  1. Thanks and LOL! yeah I agree :D no I wasn't misinterpreting your post at all. In fact everything u said was pretty much on the dot! I just said it in my post so ppl can make the right choice if they do purchase an amplifier.
  2. 100W or 200 Watter it doesn't really matter . Just because of the fact that every company rates their product differently. Yes I do agree a lot has to do with clarity and efficiency but most important thing LOW DISTORTION. That's why there are a few high end company like Phoenix gold,Hi phonics ,they rate their amps so low(competition series) -Phoenix Gold 40Watt mosfet power would have more power ,cleaner sounds than a Sony explode 400Watter. Cassiebox: Thanks for taking the time to explain what is usually impossible to understand for an audio novice. Your detailed explanations have cleared up a lot of the question marks that remained in my head about how to improve the sound system in a Boxster, as well as exactly how the improvements are accomplished. Regards, Maurice.
  3. same bulb as your dome, door courtesy.front side markers-part# 2825 I changed all mine with xenon super white bulb.they r so much nicer!
  4. I thought these came with all 986's but apparently not,,,,, since i don't use mine, I'll sell it to u. LOL
  5. exactly! crossover meaning only certain frequencies can cross over to the speaker line out put. Your door speakers aren't exactly subs more like mid range. built in crossover should be cut off at 18db/octave 87-120 HZ for the mids. I've seen many guys tried to up grade their door speakers my personal opinion is - it's not really worth it, I think factory amp is just terrible unless u upgrade your amplifier no matter what u do to it, it's not going to make that much difference. I have upgraded the whole system. in my case pair of Cliff design 5 1/2 s on both doors, 1" tweeters on the rear sliding pocket door w/ 3-1/2 s. Going with 2 or 3 way speakers is not going to sound too good I don't think. I recommend u to consider using a pair of component system(separate mids & tweets)
  6. You mean these? ACEA A3,B3/B4 API SM,SL/CF These r Mobile 1 SuperSyn, I use them every time. I believe they r the best! haven't seen mobil 1 high viscosity at walmart but, if it isn't fully synthetic ,,, don't touch em or do your oil change every 3000 rather than 15.000 miles.
  7. Yes they were hitting the caliper. 7mm H&R spacers were thrown! and I couldn't possibly use my old lug bolts. I noticed Porsche factory ball seat was slightly diff than a most after market ball seat. factory lug bolt's groove was just too wide , they just won't sit properly. So I ended up getting some longer bolts. I was looking to put the same wheels on my 01' S. PLEASE POST PICS WHEN YOU GET THEM ON. So why did you need 6.5mm spacers in the front? Was the wheel hitting the caliper?
  8. If the 12V signal did go on and off when u pressed the window switch it;s probably bad ground!
  9. Congrats! Yup, S is the way to go . Desnorkle ur 986! extra 5HP Pretty sure he doesn't want more power. next time read the post.
  10. I would check ur motor first! as rsfeller recommended hook it up to the car battery or if load isn't that great 9V battery might even work. But most likely motor should be fine just because it is brand new. Then you will need to meter those 4 sets of wires connects to the motor , while depressing the switch up & down. Try to identify your voltage signal. If u can't then we will need to trace back the wiring diagram.
  11. To be continued- Easy to short these wires. must disconnect em . Topless boxster! I like it. Time to sew a new one in
  12. Customer dropped his car off about 2 PM to get his rear window done-99 Boxster S Midnight blue. So I thought to keep this post goin- Many ppl asked which is eaier to do:with the top on? or off? However this time it was donw with the top off and JUKI machine stitched in instead of hand stititchin! I believe how to remove your top was pretty well explained by rsfeller & 1schoir! clamshell at 45 degrees, back cables detached- just pop it out 3 large bolts needs to be removed to diengage the push bar opposite side? LOL
  13. SACHS grip force would be just fine! With your friends' shop, you have certainly found the ideal way to "get to know the car better." Unless you track your car, I don't know that the "21 percent increase in clamping force" would be of any use to you. I'll let others with more experience in that arena comment on that aspect. You might search on some other forums that have more emphasis on the racing scene for Boxsters to see what you can learn about high performance clutch setups, etc... After you finish the job, along with the tremendous feeling of satisfaction that you will experience, take the $700 to $800 savings and buy something nice for you and your Boxster. Regards, Maurice.
  14. What kind of calipers u got? I believe S comes with bigger calipers,,,
  15. Thanks fellas! I'm pretty excited myself. I sure will post some pics! Sweet wheels man  Wish I had 18x11 at the rear (18x9 with 265s now) first thing I would do is throw on a set of 285s, would look tough from the back but I understand your hesitation. Post some shots of your car when its done :D
  16. Clutches are the tie between the engine and the transmission. They make it possible to comfortably start from a standstill and they interrupt the flow of power between the engine and the transmission when changing gears or idling. They are mainly made up of a clutch disc, clutch cover and releaser, although various constructions do exist depending on application needs. All clutch components have been tuned to reach the same life span. In the event that a clutch component breaks down, it is strongly recommended that the entire clutch is replaced. For this reason, ZF Trading has created the ideal solution with the complete kit product range; made up of a clutch cover, clutch disc, and releaser. The kit includes the special grease required for fitting and problem-free operation. Thanks for the encouragement! This may very well become my first REAL project. To get started, can you point me in the right direction for the parts I should be looking for? Just to begin my research.
  17. U can do it! I'm sure that many of us here are willing to help u, if its necessary.
  18. liked that MP3 audio clip u inserted ,pretty cool! u probably will get another 5k-10k it souldnt hurt your engine or tranny Good luck.
  19. I need to space out the front I think,,,I'll know for sure in a couple days.I'm gonna try to throw them on next few days. I'll post some pix then! Did you space out the front and the back?
  20. LOL.You are only dealing with 1 din. I had to struggle with double din! I guess 986 comes with all diff dash configuration,,,,, Here is pics of mine-MP4,DVD,Divx,SD card,USB port u name it . Actually it is still stuck... I will keep on trying. Gustavo
