  1. follow the chart 911_DRIVEABILITY.pdf
  2. 993 is a manual procedure, see attached I don't think there can be a 0, what is the number on the bar code? 993_Immo.pdf
  3. it is from a K40 undetectable model. usually has front and rear sensors do you have a front tag frame? if so does any wires go to it or can you see a small box in the front grill? should have a small box mounted in the rear bumper area also
  4. make sure he replaces all the bolts in the suspension. sounds like one is stretched and not holding the tightening torque.
  5. I am guessing 3.2 is a 84-89 911. the 87 and 88 had valve guide problems. if your mileage is actual then that is in about the right range. also could be the hydraulic chain tensioners if you give year and model when posting it helps with answers
  6. the 15k re-tension is important as both belts stretch. a loose belt will jump time and bend valves
  7. here is the wiring, the micro swxs that are built in to the motors are usually the problem you can manually close them with a long flat blade screwdriver 911_TOP.pdf
  8. no removing the helper spring will not make it better, matter of fact it makes the clutch worse.
  9. yes they do SUCK, the 915 trans clutch has always been like that. you can mess around with the adjustments and make it better for a while. the 901 trans set up in the early car does not have the helper spring so it feels different. if you really like the car and it is in good shape you might want to convert it to a G50 trans with a hydraulic clutch
  10. Wikipedia says: Porsche introduced a refreshed 928 S into the European market in 1979 model year, although it was summer of 1982 and MY 1983 before the model reached North America. Externally, the S wore new front and rear spoilers and sported wider wheels and tires than the older variant and they are usually right
  11. all the shims need to be on the shaft, either between the halves or on the outside. 911_BELT.pdf
  12. no because you will still have the same code still there. 27 is for the passenger side air bag , you have a problem with the airbag or wiring or both. if you are not comfortable handling the airbag you might want to bring this to a shop remember airbags are little bombs waiting to go off.
  13. I am not trying to be a smarta** but the crest that comes on the airbag is not a hood crest as the part number implies http://www.automotion.com/product.asp?pf_i...mp;dept_id=4077 I am just trying to save a life
  14. I hope none of you are putting this crest on your airbags. Q. have you thought about what that crest is going to do when the airbag deploys?????????? A. if your lucky just leave a Porsche crest embossed on your forehead if your not so lucky a Porsche crest lodged in a jugular or eye or heart, lung etc......... you shouldn't be putting anything on any airbag!!!!!!!!!
  15. the immobo is coded by a manual procedure using the key, you can't swap parts from car to car. I have a test plan somewhere, just can't find it right off. no on board diagnostics on the system. you need to find a tech with experience on this system or you will be paying to train them
  16. the power steering pump is driven by the right cam, there should be a reservoir by the engine oil filter. nice looking hot rod, if you run any road course with an oval remove the spoiler flap, you will pick up 600-800 rpm
  17. I don't have all the horse power numbers handy but, the 88 951 S and the 89 951 had the bigger turbo and bigger brakes.
  18. are you guys "topping off" the tank? in other words are you stopping felling when the pump clicks off or trying to pack more fuel in? this will get fuel in the evap system and cause problems

    VIN

the VIN in the luggage compartment started with a WPOZZ the VIN on the door jam and the plate on the windshield probably had WPOAA when the car was being built it was given a WPOZZ VIN, if it stayed in Europe the WPOZZ stayed with the car. going to North America it was then given the WPOAA.
  20. did you try banging on the dash? if it starts working then it is usually a connection in the cluster
  21. it sounds to me that the tire had a slow leak/puncture and instead of slowing down to check out the tires, speed was increased and the side wall gave out. this gives the appearance that the tire "shattered". it is hard to tell that you have a soft tire, even with the 17" wheels. harder when you go up in rim size since the side wall of the tire gets shorter.
  22. here is test plan, I know it is for a 930 but basically the same systems. $300 for a CD box? sounds like a permatune, better buy 2 unless the quality has gotten better 930_Test_Plan.pdf
  23. you are going to have to get the door panel off with out opening the door. I suspect the actuator is FUBAR and causing the problem 944_DOOR_1A.pdf 944_DOOR_1B.pdf
  24. OK, sounds like a lock cylinder but Fischer Price it for me what exactly does each door do?
