  1. My mistake. It is P1579. Car went dead, all dash warning lights came on, no power steering, brake assist, etc.
  2. My 2000 Boxster stopped dead last night. I have an OBD2 code P1576. The only thing I checked was serpentine belt and that is fine.
  3. Thanks for a great article. I still wonder how the front vibration dampers (No. 6) are oriented. The pictures for the front calibers are oriented for right front and the picture for the vibration damper is sideways. Which end of the vibration damper is topmost: smaller weight on top or larger weight on top? I re-edit: I changed my front rotors and pads and include these two photos. The vibration dampers for the LEFT wheel are shown here. The larger piston is on the top of the caliper and the smaller is an the lower. Also, the glue does not stick too well, so it is not a problem to stick the vibration dampers onto the pads. They will rearrange themselves when you first step on the bake pedal.
  4. My right door speaker rattles. Tried to remove the inner door face and couldn't get the inner door face off because of the inner door handle and the airbag. Anyone know how to remove the inner door face off?
  5. I bought a new fan and it also doesn't work. I have seen several posts in connection to problems with the ignition lock and am wondering if this could be something related to that. I had a new ignition lock replaced a month or two ago. Thoughts?
  6. I need to replace the AC/heater fan. I am buying a new fan from AutoHaus Arizona. Any advice?
  7. I had the ignition lock replaced two weeks ago. I used a local shop who works on Porsches. I did not need to buy a new key, but the lock cost $400, parts and labor. Several people said that the lock can go suddenly and the key will not work anymore, turns in the lock, etc., so I did it before my key did the same. The shop said it is not so easy to do yourself, getting the dash off and reassembling the key tumblers. I didn't want to try to lose the key function or lose the car because it wouldn't start.
