  1. vandalism. Anyone had good results from repairing someone who took a key to the 3 panels on one side of your car!?!? Are those kits worth it? Or should I just pony up the 500 deductable and get the shop to do it? Thoughts?
  2. what is the front joint boot? I changed my diffs fluid just a few weeks back and didn't have to do anything regarding joints or boots.
  3. or you can spray paint the old ones with the wurth silver power coat paint.
  4. i think it's around 14-16k. Best of luck. I ditto carsareart's comment as i too have 120k on my 99 daily driver and have been mulling my options down the road..hopefully far enough down the road where I can buy a newer model for daily driver while rebuilding the 3.4. I'm actually excited for you. It's going to be a great experience i'm sure.
  5. LOL! the valet screwed you:) This is a first. Agreed it seems impossible for a critter to get in your sunroof. Maybe it crawled up the A-Frame by chewing through from below/engine bay. Remove your trim and give a look around.
  6. yeah i know they are the left and right sides. But they seem interchangeable. I put the right on the left side by accident(indy ordered the right side, but reported the left side had the play issue). I didn't realize until after I installed it they are side specific. But yet, they fit and seemed to function fine installed on the wrong side. That is why i was wondering. I went ahead and swapped them back around anyway. Next up i guess i'll replace the rears too.
  7. Is there any difference to the front/left droplinks? The part numbers change from ending in 69 and 70, but they look identical. Can they be interchanged? Don't ask me why:) lol. Anyway, thanks in advance.
  8. had a similar sound...2/3 weeks later my water pump ceased. Def. possibility to look into.
  9. vitriolic response...ah ummm ok. Were you expecting warm embraces after your post? wow. Well in any event welcome and best of luck in your content searches.
  10. fast eddy this is a site to help you with technical issues/learning with your 911. If you are paying someone hundreds of dollars to change your oil than maybe you are right, this site isn't for you.
  11. I have various noises coming from my suspension. And with 120k miles i'm sure things are wearing or are worn out. A good way to isolate the culprits if you have no experience and are kinda looking blind like me is to spray some lubricant at a particular source in your case the shock mount and then drive and listen for the noises. IF they go away you can start by looking to replace that part. IF not, go down the line to another possible source and repeat if needed tc.
  12. wow. With friends like that....... :( - someones got the bling complex it seems.
  13. If you don't plan on touching your engine then maybe the maintenance would be on the high side. Otherwise I think you can achieve your mileage goals as some members on this forum have documented over 160k on 1999 original 3.4 engines. I have 118k on mine and bought it like you at 80k miles. As Benjamin listed yes you will have the normal component repairs with coil pak, o2 sensors, starter, engine mount yada yada. All easy to do and you learn a lot about your car in the process. Or you can pay someone a bunch of bills to turn a few wrenches. Best of luck in your decision!
  14. yes, no facts on the 05's. i was just stating my opinion, and yes, i admitt heresay. And i'm also rooting for you to get a turbo also jmo!!!!! lol. Best of luck. You deserve a mean machine that eats highway miles after miles.
  15. +1 on keeping an eye out on the waterpump. Sorry minny, i wasn't trying to critizise you. I just shudder when I see people drop thousands of dollars on repairs that one can do themselves...especially with the help of loren and team renntech:) Again, good work on the preventative maint...you've covered alot of bases and it's good to have confidence in knowing the state of components in your car.
  16. Phillip there are too many people whose opinions are to stay away from these model year 911's. Don't put yourself in harms way again. Look around some more. jm2c.
  17. you should have avoided the shop and done the repairs yourself. Great writeups for everything you had done here in the forums. OTher than that, preventative maintenance is a good idea.
  18. i'm sure you are aware, but be as careful as your "fat hands" can be in working over there. Those little black plastic hoses are brittle. Especially the hoses from the waterpump! ask me how i know:( lol
  19. the plastic jacket/coating on the head of the coil paks will show cracks, usually with some rust showing as this is what causes the failures. YOu don't have to replace all of them, but as long as you have the side tin off might as well inspect all of them, or at least that one side. But with a 1999, you probably will have several if not all whose time has come. Also, remove you air box and alternaor to change out your air and electric change over valves to correct your p1411 p0410 codes.
  20. secondary air injection system. Probably your air/electric changeover valves.
  21. priced a bit high maybe, but still insane though, you going to buy it? I will be jealous:)
