  1. Can I install these on my 2000 Boxster when I changed my bulbs a while ago the entire assembly was one unit. How would one attach these clear corners. Thank you
  2. I read it some where but I cant remember at what speed does the rear spoiler come up, Is it in the owners manual. TIA
  3. Make sure you put this in the DIY section, it is a dandy Hack.... Thanx for the writeup
  4. Had a similar problem with the idle surge and solved it. The throttle body was gunked up, take it off and clean it. It also restores power. Good luck
  5. So what happened did they replace it under warr. or did you ship the rebuilt one from U.S Im curious?
  6. It is a part of the throttle body, I thought that was my problem too. I had a surge in the idle and a minor loss of power at low rpm... turns out the throttle body needed to be cleaned out the passage was obstructed so it was not getting enough air at idle.
  7. I did a an OBC hack search in the DIY section and could not find it ? c an you point me to it ... sounds like a good one!
  8. Thanx guys actually it was not the MAF nor was it the ECU upgrade flash. The 01 MAF I had in there was correct. The Throttle body was gummed up bad, so the gate kept opening and shutting trying to breath at idle so they cleaned it out gave me my money back for the extra MAF with an apology and a 996 for 4 hours while they fixed it. It may have been because I gave a quick call to the service manager. Scott I did get the email and I mailed you back buddy...... it seems as though the hood problem is not that bad for now .I can get it shut on the 2nd or 3rd try My biggest problem is I cant get the 996 out of my head I need more power I have to look into uprade from a 2.7 but in all im happy this drama has come to an end. Thanx to all for your help
  9. I just read the work order from the Porsche dealer, those clowns put in the wrong MAF 996 606 124 00 , I called them and let them have it. They came by the office to put the right MAF in 986 606 125 01 and when they did. The Idle problem was back...... Back to the drawing board. The MAF they put in was robbing my power because the fuel air mixture was set for a bigger block. The car is at the dealer now and their saying when I put the new MAF in myself the DME was not remapped. I told them that My car didn't need that because TP told me it was e gas. But it seems as though I know more info about this issue than they do. Will keep you posted, if you have any suggestions on how do deal with this crap I would like to know. TIA
  10. After putting in a new MAF I had a loping Idle problem.... I was told it may be the MAF so i put in 2 other ones of the same correct part Number and I still had the hunting Idle. Finally I gave in and took it to the dealer After $625 he put in a MAF same Part number and the hunting idle is gone. I dont get it. Anyway I feel like I have lost power along with the new MAF, has anyone else experienced this going to the new 986 606 125 01 The idle is fine and there is No CEL but i feel a loss in power, not the same PEP, im wondering if there are others who have noticed it or if its in my head. Thanks for your expertise !
  11. Based on what I have read I would stick with the OEM plugs, is there a reputable independant garage that works on Porche's? If so than I would see if this place will ship overseas http://catalog.autopartsperformance.com/ and get the independant garage to put it in. I doubt the porshe service at the dealer will put in parts other than their own.
  12. Getting to the engine bay should be in your owners manual. Is there a Porsche a dealership there? 3 weeks seems long for an alternator? Is the car manual.. the alternators are different for tip tronic check into this & welcome to the site.
  13. Crap would it have been possible that I streched the cable just by pulling with some pliers? Thanx for the mail Loren
  14. Is there a DIY for the hood cable. There has to be a way to adjust it? :help:
  15. A while ago I got locked out of my car when the battery died I finally got in to the battery when I performed surgery on the hood lever panel on the sill. I pivoted the lever panel and pulled on the cable. Now I have problems closing my hood, how can i adjust the cable. Thank you
  16. never heard of this but I will be keeping an eye on the thread to see what the experts have to say. BTW Welcome to the site!
  17. I agree, Power wash the brakes then do some hard braking to see if that does the trick. That would be the first course of action it will cost you 2 quarters at the power wash. You can get the brake parts cleaner or the carb spray, any non residue spray but you wont get as much pressure or flowrate as the pressure wash. If that does not do it then as frank mentioned you would check for a mis alignment. Tool pants,Im curious as to why the tranny comes into play?
  18. A 98 with 4000 miles, thats impressive how do you keep from driving it? Is the squeel present during light braking or even when you hit the brakes with substantial presure? How is your brake fluid level? any leaks? I noticed your from Houston, whatever you do dont take it to Momentum Porsche, I have done some research and found some independant garages J
  19. So you will be getting the original cluster installed. Will you be attempting the Hack again?
  20. I figured as much. Otherwise why get a OBDII reader Thanx Scott
  21. Hold up you mentioned that there was a hack to read the codes thru the climate control? Is that true ? Thankx
  22. HAHaha I am from Houston the roads suck bad in Texas rock chips everywhere ... but shrink wrap... your a Champ! :clapping:
  23. Do a search on MAF there are a few extensive threads with part numbers, prices and History. what is the problem? just CEL is on? or is the car running different? if it is than please explain how? You can start by reading this thread to familiarize yourself on the MAF topic :lightbulb: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=659 BTW welcome to the site I was a newbie a while back , but now I believe. There are a few guys on here that just know there stuff.... Tool Pants, Mickeymouse, Loren...im sure there is more good luck J
