  1. Glad to see we didn't lose all the members names interested. But are we able to make contact with all these people since the post has been deleted as I don't imagine they are all on renntech. Hate to see guys miss out.
  2. thanks guys but a local vw dealer helped me out big time. They removed the old wiring without destroying the original plug and matched up the original wire and made the plug like new again. Porsche said too bad so sad $200 for new harness just to use only the small plug. They also said the motor has to come down no other way to access it. Its impossible. So I guess I did the impossible and again recieved no help from my local dealer. But thank all of you for your help this website is such a great resource

  4. Mouse chewed end off connector that plugs into the drivers side knock sensor. I need a new connector that has a short length of wire on it so I can patch into the cars harness. Do you know if that connector is commonly used in other electrical connections (like O2 sensor or crossreference numbers with vw cars, so I can cut of the sensor and just use plug) or if you can just get the plug any kind of info would be great thanks.
  5. thanks for the pics they were a big help, and sure as hell the harness that plugs into the knock sensor was all chewed up. No nest or droppings but the bugger chewed the end off right at the connector and now I need a new connector that has a short length of wire on it so I can patch into the cars harness. Do you know if that connector is commonly used in other electrical connections (like O2 sensor or crossreference numbers with vw cars, so I can cut of the sensor and just use plug) or if you can just get the plug any kind of info would be great thanks.
  6. hey guys I need some help. I have a 2001 996tt with 19k miles on it. Beautiful, love the car but for some reason I can't keep boost? can only maintain .4 .5 bar at most. I checked all the boost hoses for leaks and already replaced the diverter valves (made no difference). I am sure its the knock sensor, either its broken or loose just not sure exactly what it looks like or its location on the engine. My durametric tool keeps bringing up p0327 Porsche fault code 210 - Knock sensor 1. I am assuming its on the drivers side but I don't want to start pulling off parts without knowing its location and if "fault code 210" is any thing specific like low voltage etc. I have been running 94 octane so i don't think its bad gas, and the car idles and revs like a charm so I don't thinks its plugs or coil packs. Any help pics diagrams etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. i am located up in vancouver canada and yes the white plastic ring are on both the drivers and passangers sides rear shocks. Wouldn't a blown shock/strut be covered in leaked oil? And how would you know if a spring is shot, I didn't even know they could. Also my spoiler isn't moving at all and I get the light if I go to fast or hit the button on the dash. Have you ever heard of one just sticking down from lack off use? Because it doesn't move at all. Thanks Loren and hope you know a good shop up here.
  8. sorry I forgot to mention that this was pics of both the front and back struts/shocks, but I am sure you already realized that. :D
  9. hey Loren here are some assorted suspension pics please let me know what these are (factory?) and if there is any adjustability. thanks [attac hment=17723:IMG_0384.jpg]
  10. here are the pics its kinda hard to see the slant its sitting at, much easier in person as well as the plastic looking toothed ring on the top of the rear springs if this is an adjustable peice or not and if someone has a pic of porsche adjustables they could post to help me know the difference. thanks await your reply.
  11. hey everyone I have a 2001 996 turbo that is sitting lower on the whole drivers side than the passenger side? It doesn't look bend or twisted, the bottom of the car looks exactly what you would expect for a car with 19000 miles on it. Just looking at the rear of the car I can see its sitting higher. Has anyone else heard of this and is it something easy to adjust. I looked at the sway bar end links, perfect. I think it still has the factory struts i.e. not adjustable. But the rear has a white plastic looking toothed ring at the top, not sure if this is an adjustable coil over in the rear or not. I am not exactly sure what a set of ps9's or 10's even look like. But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
  12. jpflip yes i did reset the codes but if i hit the dash button it just comes back. funny that it doesn't notice there is a problem unless you try to run it. i guess the computer doesn't check that its operable on start up like it does with airbags, abs, traction control etc. or it does and the spoiler is just stuck (from lack of use) car only has 19k on it and i am not sure even the last time it was drivin (bought at auction).
  13. the remote light works perfect on the key. This is my second turbo I have owned and the key response to the buttons being pressed is the same as one my original car which had no fob issues. The alarm light on the dash can be activated by turning the key in the door and it does the usual, stays solid for a couple of seconds and then turns to a continuous flash. Again same as my original car. So I can only assume that it needs to be re-paired to the car. I am surprised to think that the car would lose the remote code for the buttons but still work for the ignition. And shouldn't the dealer have the ability to reset the code without the 24 digit code? I say this because on my original turbo I purchased a second key through ebay and had the dealer programmed it (I had the 24 digit code with new key) During the process they accidently erased my original key code and made the key useless, that I did not have the code for and within a couple of minutes of working with his computer he was able to recall the code and make both keys work again. but does anyone know the answer to my spoiler question in regards to durametric tool being able to diagnose relay/microswitch issues and troubleshoot this annoying spoiler.
  14. thanks for reply. the fuse is fine, looking at step 2 and i dont know what pst2 is. I assume its a porsche diagnostic tool. I just got a durametric tool but not sure how to check if it has this ability , anybody know out there. please respond soon thanks
  15. hey guys just got my new to me 2001 black on black 996 tt with 19k miles on it. but for some reason my spoiler won't move at all. You push the button on the dash and you get the dreaded light. Tried listening for any hydraulic pump whine (like its trying to lift it) and hear nothing. It doesn't seem like its leaking or corroded. My durametric tool came up with 9150 spoiler control status: present. Not sure what that means but any help will be greatly appreciated. Also my key remote is not working, I know this is a common problem but i've tried everything (turning battery around trick, trying new battery etc.) light on remote works fine and if i lock the car with the key I can turn on the alarm system. So I am confused. I await patiently for your response.
  16. ordered new hose comes in tomorrow but I still don't know why this happened? The porsche dealer was no help they say they haven't heard of this before, but anything is possible(thanks porsche). It goes into the intake through a T connector, not sure if this is a servicable part but you have to buy the whole pipe not just the connector #13 in diagram. Has anyone replaced this part already and can look into the pipe to see what it looks like(is it just a staight connector or does it have a valve inside?). Or if their is any inline filters that also run with these lines that could be plugged causing my collapsed hose.
  17. hey everyone here is a diagram from my 2001 996 turbo regarding slow responsive throttle and eractic idle. (car will idle smooth then suddenly struggle almost stall and recover). When you slowly put in throttle (car stationary) the car feels sluggish at first then after a certain point in revs just fine. Looked for loose hoses and a sucking sound but instead I found a hose that is being sucked flat (#26 in diagram) when the car is idling and when you shut it off it returns to normal. Not sure why this is happening but could that be the issue that is causing the check engine light code P0103? Not the MAF? This came on suddenly and the car was running perfect up to this point. I had already installed plugs and a new oem air filter a month ago with no issues
  18. has anyone tried using an exterior motion detector on their car and if so what brand and does porsche make one that is compatible with the already existing factory alarm. Thanks already had car vandalized once and would like to deter futher idiots.
  19. I have a 2001 996 turbo and within the first 5 days of owning it (Haven't even driven it yet) someone in my underground parking stole my turbo logo off the back and scratched up my paint in the process. Why they wanted it I have no idea, but my question is the foam and adhesive backing they left behind is it easily enough removed to install a new logo or is it better to just repaint, also on my motorcycle I had a permiter alarm installed which went off if someone even came close to it and has anybody installed something similar in their car. And if so what brand, I really don't want to mess with what the car already comes with I would just like to add an exterior motion detector to it. Thanks, someone please respond soon as I don't want this to only be the beginning.
  20. Thanks for trying Loren and for the speedy reply, your are a king among men. Stupid radio
  21. Try 8825 or 8823 I tried both codes and a multitude of others close to that number but no sucess, is there any chance you input the serial number wrong or perhaps the model number? Please try again I hate to ask, but I'm dieing. I don't know if this will help but I found a black plastic tag (pill shaped) with the words radio key secura key and it has 2 sets of engraved numbers on the back but both sets contain 5 digits (my stereo only reqires four). Is this for the ignition key? Or something else. Thank you in advance Loren and I look forward to your reply.
  22. I have 2001 996 turbo and I need a radio code Type 4462 Serial# Y5050979 24/99 CD2081 Thanks I'm lost without my music
