  1. The switches are on the passenger side ram. I just had mine repaired, the passenger side would not go up. It wouldn't make the switch and gave me a spoiler alarm.
  2. thanks for the information. I have one question, how much vacuum should there be at the line comming from the vacuum Reservoir. There doesn't seem to be enough to operate the air valve once the electric valve opens. thanks, Joel
  3. I am also having a new loud squeeling noise from the engine area on a 2001 turbo. Also getting codes p1411 and p0410. How is it possible for bad diverter valves to cause these codes. Joel
  4. I own a 2001 996 TT, and am looking to buy new tires. The stock tires are only available in high performance summer tires. I am more likely to drive in the rain and snow than go 150 mph. I was looking at going 225/40-18 in the front and 265/35-18 in the back. I think I will have to buy new wheels because a 265 will not fit on an 11" wheel. Has anyone tried this combination or have any input. I would like to find a solution to buying new rear tires every 8,000 miles. thanks, Joel
  5. I am thinking about repainting my garage floor and putting a porsche emblem in the middle of it, 2 or 3 feet tall. Anyone know where to get a sticker this tall or the best way to do this? thanks. Joel
  6. I changed my spark plugs yesterday after thinking about it for a long time. Thanks to everyone who wrote and added comments to the DIY Spark Plug Change Instructions, it was almost foolproof. After spending a Saturday changing plugs and detailing my car, it runs great. One comment, Take the advise on #5 and get a helper to take off and reinstall the bumper cover. Thanks, Joel
  7. After I parked in my usually spot (backed in, slight incline, ebrake on, not in gear) I walked towards the house only to turn around and see my car driving away. I saw her go down the hill , across the street and make a turn between a tree and a ditch; finally stopping inches from a fence. When I got to the car nothing was hurt, not even a scratch. My wife saw the whole thing and ran outside screaming " It even drives nice when no ones driving it". After checking it out I found the Ebrake off and the ebrake pushbutton had popped off and landed in the passengers footwell. Why would the ebrake release itself? What should I check? thanks, Joel
  8. When I press the lock button on the remote the doors lock without the horn. When I press the lock button twice the horn beeps and the doors lock.
  9. I just bought some CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. The directions say not to use it on Turbo or Supercharged engines. What other cleaning options are there for a 996tt? Joel
  10. The Check engine light finally stayed on long enough (slow steady flash) to throw a code P0301. Joel
  11. I think that I might have a MAF problem, sputtering on heavy acceleration and missing on light acceleration, at around 3200 rpm. I have removed the MAF and cleaned it with CRC Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner, but no change. I have read several posts about disconnecting the MAF to see if it runs better without the sensor hooked up. What exactly does the MAF do and why would the car run better without it. Thanks, Joel 2001 996TT, 16K miles
  12. The check engine light only comes on for about 5 seconds, while the car is stumbling, when I let off the gas the car quits stumbling and the check engine light goes out. While the check engine light is on the center dash says to drive to a qualified repair shop. I am in Portland. Joel
  13. I checked the faults with an OBDII code reader and it said zero faults. Does the Durametric have the capability of reading codes in a history that are no longer active? thanks, joel
  14. I have a 2001 996 TT with 16,000 miles. On heavy acceleration I get a check engine light and the car sputters and goes flat. As soon as I let up on the gas the check engine light goes out and the car runs great. This always happens when if I accelerate hard from about 3000 rpm and sputters all the way up to 5000 or until I let my foot off the accelerator. Any Ideas? thanks, Joel
  15. I picked my car up in Los Angles in January. I drove it home to Portland and had to detour for a snow closed I-5. All in all I was in the car for 23 hours and 1500 miles, I don't think I would have done it in any other car. The car ran perfect. I was so excited about finally getting a Porsche that I can barley remember the trip.
  16. Loran, It was the pressure accumulator. Thank-you very much. Joel
  17. I have a 2001 996TT with 13,500 miles. Last week the clutch was hard to depress after the car had been sitting overnight and would be ok after the car was started. This week the assist will not last over 10 minutes after shutting off the car. Also, the pressure, while driving, is not very constant. One shift, the clutch will be harder to press than the next. Does this sound like air in the line or a bad clutch slave cylinder???? and should the master cylinder be changed at the same time? Joel
  18. I am going to attempt to bleed/flush the brakes. I'm looking for the best and safest way to get all 4 tires off the ground and removed, so I can bleed all 4 brakes at the same time. I have already purchased a Motive power brake bleeder kit and except for the car still being on the ground, am ready to go.
