  1. Reconnecting old radio into car. BE2582 serial 15008971 thank you sorry I just went through the FAQ.
  2. You might want to take a look at http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-turbo-forum/600739-error-code-p1325.html. I had the same problem on bank 2, so you will have to troubleshoot using a mirror. hopefully it's an actuator, broken bracket or wiring issue. good luck and keep us posted.
  3. You might want to take a look at this link: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-turbo-forum/600739-error-code-p1325.html Are you getting a P1325? Joel
  4. I had the same problem with my passenger side front wheel bearing. Tried all the regular tricks for troubleshooting, raise the car and wiggle the wheel, check for heat, try to turn sharp left/right to see if the noise went away and put my ear to the bearing to see if I heard grinding. The bearing is torque to 340 foot/lbs so the normal troubleshooting doesn't work. If you can isolate it to the front left or right chances are its the bearing. I have the drivers side going out now. I spent all that money on a stereo and can barely hear it. guess I should have changed them both at the same time. Joel
  5. I usually burn 1 quart every 1500 miles. When my car was stored (two weeks between starts), I would let out a puff of smoke every time i started it. Now I am driving it daily and I never have any smoke at startup. I don't know if it's normal, but my car likes to be driven and runs better when it is. Congratulations on your new car, Post some pics. Joel
  6. Was this the oil after 20,000km, with a new quart added every 3,000km? Joel
  7. Congratulations on your repair/fix. Like Loren, I would have never suspected the MAF, since all the codes were on bank 2. I guess now, whenever I have a miss I will unplug the MAF and see how she runs. Joel
  8. All I know is that when I used the Durametric software the first time it "coded" my instrument cluster to a non turbo. I contacted Durametric and they said they would work on it. They came up with a new software revision that "coded" the 996 turbo cluster with a boost gauge. When I went to use the new software it said that my instrument cluster was not a 996 cluster. I e-mailed Durametric and sent them a logging of the computer clearing fault codes and trying to activate the boost gauge. After several weeks they sent some new software that ignored the kind of instrument cluster I have and loaded the boost gauge. I really didn't have anything to do with the fix, it was all the work of the pros at Durametric. Joel
  9. After working with Durametric, I now have a boost gauge. I highly recommend Durametric, they stuck with the problem until they found a solution. Joel
  10. I tried the new software update and still no boost gauge. When I went to activate the gauge it said " not a 996 instrument panel", I sent a file back to Durametric and they said they would still work on it. Joel
  11. Jp, Thanks for the heads up. I was in e-mail contact with Durametric and they were suppose to notify me by e-mail when they had the issue resolved. I guess they must have gotten busy. I will try any download the update and try it tonight. thanks agian, Joel
  12. I removed b1, b10 and e1. about 5 min. no change. now i have to figure out how to adjust my clock, just kidding. Joel
  13. I just tried it. when disconnected it runs bad with no check engine light. reconnected it runs good but boost still missing. thanks, if you come up with anything else let me know. Joel
  14. I have all the options when I operate the left lever down, outside temp, miles till empty, average speed but no boost pressure. I went to the selections for the upper display, boost isn't even there to choose from. Looks like I will call Durametric tomorrow for some more help. If I get this fixed I'm not going to use version 6 until version 7 beta is out. I tried the onboard computer enable and disable, I'm wondering if that is what killed my boost. Joel
  15. 2001 996 turbo. I was messing around in the durametric 6 software and couldn't get anything to activate on the instrument cluster. when I exited and started the car I noticed I lost my boost gauge. I called Durametric, then sent them a logging of the trouble. They said I should be using the K21 instrument cluster. I tried the K21 and It worked, problem is I still have no boost gauge, I can't get it to read on the bottom of the gauge and it isn't on the selections for the upper gauge. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas? Joel
  16. Here is a very good write up on replacing front wheel bearings on a 996 turbo. Lots of good pics. He suggests that the red/orange seal goes toward the inside of the car. Good luck, Joel http://www.pelicanpa...el_Bearings.htm
  17. have you checked your oil filter for any metal shavings? If you see anything, check with a magnet to see if they are magnetic. I had the same error on bank 2 (p1325) and had to take out the motor and replace the center oil ring on the intake cam. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-turbo-forum/600739-error-code-p1325.html good luck, Joel
  18. I've been pretty happy with Sumitomo HTR Z III.
  19. Hi Harold,

I was also wondering what happened with the P1349 fault. I am getting a 1325 fault. Same thing side 2.

    Joel

  20. My Durametric cable showed up yesterday and I hooked it up for the first time. Can someone tell me what a "healthy" Turbo is suppose to be reading for Camshaft position 1 deviation Camshaft position 2 deviation Actual angle for camshaft bank 1 Actual angle for camshaft bank 2 Thanks, Joel
  21. That is the same point that I am at. I hope to remove the engine this winter and fix the problem. I am getting the same fault and your troubleshooting has helped me get to the next step. Keep me in mind when you are working on the repair, I will be very interested.

    Joel

  22. I am having the same variocam problem. Did you ever come up with a fix to your problem.

    thanks Joel

  23. Thank-you for the information, Is is possible to check the timing chain and the variocam components with the motor still in the car. Joel
  24. I am getting an error code P1325. After reading several posts I decided to swap the actuator valves (the ones on the top of the engine) bank 1 to bank 2. I also changed the filter and oil. Went on a ride and got the same code after about 5 minutes. Any ideas on what to do next. thanks, Joel 2001 996 turbo 26,000 miles
  25. get ahold of trieullionaire. He has all the parts and information you need to install a double din stereo. I purchased an install kit from him and I was very happy with the results. Put his name in the search. Hope this helps.
