  1. I rented a base 991 before buying my 991S. I was amazed as how fast the base was. And depending on where you drive it, it may be enough for you. I drive my car on the mountains near my home and 400Hp sometimes is too much for curvy roads, with tight bends and narrow sections, but I manage. The one I rented was from Hertz and it was a bit of fun. I say go for it if it is a good deal.
  2. Crickets... Here is the latest. No go. Q1- can I use the GT4 wheels on my narrow body 991S? The sizes are the same but the offsets are different so I wouldn't recommend it. The GT4 front wheels would sit 10mm farther inside the fender than your stock wheels and the GT4 rear wheels would be 20mm farther outside than your original wheels. Even if they did fit, the fact that the front wheels base would be 20mm narrower and the rear wheel base would be 40mm wider, it could result in a diminished driving experience with greater understeer in the vehicle. Q2- can I upgrade to center lock hubs and get the GT3 wheels to fit in my 991S? Unfortunately Porsche doesn't offer a center lock conversion for the 991... We have priced it out in the past as individual pieces and it was over $20k... I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to use the GT3 rear wheel though as it is 1.5" wider than you rear wheels. Have you considered aftermarket wheels like HRE?

  4. I have been tinkering around with my photos and I wanted to ask for opinions on GT4 wheels on a 991.1 or assuming the cost is not too crazy, upgrading to center locks and going for GT3 wheels. Has anyone tried the GT4's? I heard I would need spacers on the front wheels.
  5. Apologies on the delay. I drove 2 weeks. Porsche paid for insurance. Mine was a factory collection, meaning new car collected at the factory so no issues on emmissions.

Trying to figure out why my horn does not sound, recently changed the bushing mechanism behind the airbag OK, here is the entire fuse system listing for your car: I would take a look at fuse holder E, fuses 1 & 2, which are 30Amp units for the power seat controls. If no fuses are out, I would again suggest having the car scanned to make sure they are actually activated. It should be similar to the one above.

If no fuses are out, I would again suggest having the car scanned to make sure they are actually activated.
  11. 175000 miles. Isabella just got a CEL this morning. Otherwise she is a joy to drive! Been to Mexico (Sinaloa) and back, often you will see me on page mill road - sky line - black road "avoiding" traffic on 280.

  14. Apologies but that almost seems like a 4/1 joke! LOL maybe a timeshare on tow trucks is a good idea for people with no-spare-cars.
  15. Regarding the goo in the car, my dealer recommend never using unless it's absolutely necessary (stuck in the middle of nowhere). The issue is that when you do use it , it makes a mess but also the pressure monitor sensors need to be replaced, guessing they cost some unnecessary dough if you just swap the tire.
  16. Hey I would go with the sticker on the door. I don't think that changed from year to year. If you are riding on 20's let me know and I will confirm what mine are at. Thinking its 35/42 F/R but don't quote me.
  17. given the overalwhelming replies I feel compelled to keep you updated. ;-) Got the car back Porsche Stevens Creek behaved decently, took full responsibility, they have yet to come back with additional cover but I take it the manager wil call me soon to let me know how much more. I was hoping some experts here could share some light for me, but I understand people are busy. PNA sent me a nice voucher to spend on Porsche stuff. That was nice. Anyway car is back, it drives just like it did before in Europe and I am happy no damaged was caused. My greatest fear was that there was damage and that I would have to go to a newer car.. Yeah right! But seriously, with how people are not ordering manuals I would have a rough time. I hope this does not happen to anyone. But be aware that if you order via Factory Collection/European delivery the dealer might cut some corners. Drive hard and stay save!
  18. I was tempted to order the base stereo on mine... But after some thought I figured the Bose was fine. I hardly use it given that I listed to NPR or my ipod, and don't expect much from the stereo, I do expect a lot from the 400hp as they need to create music for my ears! My only complaint about the 991 is the sound of the e-brake. Truly the most un-Porsche thing of the car. But given I live in flat Silicon Valley it's not a big deal. Hope you are enjoying your ride!
