  1. So i replaced my HU with a Clarion Mp3 player. I didn't use a hardness adapter but i spliced into the factory harness. Anywho, now my alarm honks upon arming/locking the car. So is there some wire that needs to be connected or grounded? Also what's that one wierd wire that connects to the dash piece. It looks like a ground wire, but don't know

  2. Check that the front trunk is in fact turning off the light when shut. You say you pulled all the bulbs, you got this one. What about the glove compartment (not sure this will cause the alarm to honk though, maybe pulling the bulbs has made the alarm think something is open)? My colleague's Volvo had an intermittent problem with the glovebox switch, caused the battery to drain intermittently.

    Good Luck!

is there a blove box??? lol can you show me where its all, i'm not kidding i didnt think there was a glove box

  3. Charge your battery then drive to an auto parts place and have it tested on their machine.  A battery can go bad.  Does not matter if it is 1 month or 1 year old.

    Normal draw is 40 milliamps.

The beep is because the car thinks something is open.

thats it? 40mA?? isnt that kinda low of draw? alarm, clock, radio all just only pulls 40mA when off?

  4. I really think you should not rule out an alignment. I have had several cars that the tire wear did not show any mis alignment, but when put on the machine was severly off. An alignment severly affects high speed handling. Another thing to check that no one mentioned is your wing, does it raise up at the proper speeds or is your fuse blown causing the wing not to go up therefore lacking downforce. While your at it check your aerodynamics, maybe an airdam is loose or damaged? just a thought good luck. By the way I drive my car at speeds in excess of 120 to 130 mph and it is very stable (even with the top down!) compared to my 2004 MBZe500 it feels glued down!

my car now has 30k miles on it, its a 99 btw, I think these are the original tires on there too. my active spoiler is working, i can see it in the reflection of other cars, (guilty of looking at oneself), but feel like this driving in excess speeds :drive: :cursing:

  5. Help me out here guys, my battery is 1 year old and just about 3 weeks ago I noticed the battery is discharging every week. I usually drive my car on every other friday and its never had a problem before. Is there something common that may be draining the battery? I even went as far as pulling all switch triggered bulbs. i have the battery on the charger right now and plan to run my dvm tomorrow in between to watch from current draw. any idea how much should be draining? Also i notice when i turn on the alarm it honks now, it never had before

    many thanks

  6. Refering to the attached drawings:

Are you saying that when you press down on the wheel carrier that forward suspension link (8 in the first drawing) is hitting the diagonal strut (1 in the second drawing)?

That is odd.  On my car (though it does not have the stock suspension) at full droop there is 3 inches of clearance between the forward suspension link and the diagonal strut.

If you can, take a picture of what it looks like and post it or send it to me.

We can take this offline if you want.  You can email me at eshih@pacbell.net.

The setup is much like that in my bmw, when I did the bearings on mine, I opt out on buying the bearing removal tool, and just used a dremel and cut out the inner and outer race, but becareful you do not cut into the hub. and that you can eaily press in the new bearing via hammer and wooden block, i know its ghetto, but it works

  7. Engine_Noise.WAV

Hi all, sorry I have to introduce myself with this kind of thread but I am stuck with this one.  Reversed into a car and engine now makes this noise.

Can you identify it.  Any ideas welcome.

Sounds like an exhaust manifold leak. You may have bent one of the exhaust manifolds enough to allow a leak at the cylinder head.

Should be easy to identify after lifting the car and looking closely at each cylinder/manifold joint with the engine running and it is cold. This way you can feel around the joints for the gas pressure. Besure to use jack stands!

you notice, the sounds disapates once the the engine has ran for a bit. sounds more live valve lashing to me. On BMW's this sounds happens when you are low on oil. I would start by checking the obvious, such as the oil level.

  8. while :drive: to work today, I decided to swap cd's. the replacement cd went in part way and spit itself out. over and over again. Is there a way to clean this? I think the sensor is bad. it locks up every time. Oh any way to get the code before i desect this thing? i hate to have to go aftermarker and ruin the bueaty of the car's flow

  9. Hi everyone,

Is there any way to set the climate control so that when I turn the car on, the AC is automatically in the OFF position?

For some reason, whenever I turn the car off with the AC off, when the engine is switched back on, the AC is in the on position with 1 bar.

When I turn the car off with more than 1 bar, lets say 3 bars, the car remembers this setting and turns on with 3 bars.

How can i get it the car running and the AC automatically be off?

    Thanks!!

    I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster.

    - Mike

i have the same problem, actually I hate it!, no matter how many times I turn it off, it comes back on
