  1. That would be a 986 Boxster only. To my knowledge Porsche has never produced a printed manual for the 987 or 997 series cars - only electronic versions. Just bought the 986 boxster set for $200 at "Porsche Parts at Dealers Cost". What a deal!!!!!! Me too. It helped with the PSE and HPA upgrades I just did - plus the binders look cool in the garage!
  2. Josh, The relay and a harness should have been included with the exhaust install hardware (vac lines, nuts bolts, stuff like that.) That was all inlcuded with my exhaust. The relay part number ends in ".02". The wiring harness is only for the relay they supply, and since there was no switch in the first years there are no wires for it. I purchased the switch later. Looking at the wiring diagram for the switch ( which is apparently included for later cars) the relay part number ends in ".03". The circuitry is clearly different than the 02 because the terminals are in different locations, and more terminals are used. That is as far as I have gotten. I am hoping someone will chime in with an answer at some point. I had a friend that is an Electrical Engineer, but he has since moved and I have lost contact. He could have resolved this in a minute or two! Kevin
  3. Um... for what model and year of car? Ooops, sorry Loren. 01 986S. The problem as I see it is that the PSE "kit" for an 01 does not contain the switch or the switch wiring harness. The original install docy from Porsche doesn't list a switch or the harness, either, so I don't think they are missing. Also, the relay is version "2". The terminals are different in the "3" (both activity and location) according to the wiring diagram for the switch so I don't see any way to use the "2". Of course I chickened out after I had the tuning pipe apart, the relay box out and everything... I only know of one other person trying to retrofit this to a year that didn't have the switch available - and we are both lost. So, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me the best way to handle a retrofit is to ante up for the harness and a "3" relay to be wired as if the car was an 04 or later. Can anyone confirm or deny with any conviction? The other thing is I can't figure out if the PSE, which I successfully installed minus the vacuum/electrical lines, is actually open or closed as a default. (The vac input to the flap actuators are capped) The tone is throatier, but not really much if any louder than it was. If this is "open" there is certainly no point in pursuing the switch any further, but I really expected more based on what I have read. Perhaps it is because my prior toy was a '92 Miata, S/C'd to 10lbs and a relatively free breathing exhaust (read: too loud!)... Thanks for the help, it's kind of a pain being a newbie! Kevin
  4. Has anyone out there retrofitted the dash switch to a pre-04 986S? I have the switch, and the manuals (+TSBs) but I can't figure out how to do it. If you know, or know someone that has done it, please spill. I don't need "wire a switch" response, what I need is what wires go to and from the switch in an 01S. I understand my relay (series 02) has the capability to quiet the system via the gr/pk wire from the speedo, what I want to do is not have it speed dependant but be able to switch it at will. TIA, my PSE is literally only half installed as we speak and I am getting desperate... :cursing: K PS, I know, I don't ask much... :)
  5. Yup, me too. Thanks for taking the time to document your install. My 01 S is almost due...
  6. Loren, As if you don't do enough around here, could you please take a minute to send the diagram to me as well? I have a NOS PSE that didn't come with the switch or the wiring. The diagram would be a big help, Thanks.
