I'm the proud owner of a '05 Turbo S Cab. I have 2k miles on the car and have noticed a disturbing anomaly with my oil pressure gauge. Between 2 and 3 thousand RPM's the pressure will drop from approximately 4 to 3 bar. The spike is sudden almost as if the oil pickup has starved for an instant. As soon as you bring the rev's above 3k the pressure pins at 5 bar and stays there. The oil level has been 1 qt low to full when this happens.I'd like to find our if anyone has notice this potential problem. Thanks for any input
I think the manual is pretty clear on this. Oil pressure gauge moves with revs broadly speaking.

Most spoiler bolts are held in place by Loctite thread locker - so they will snap when they break free. If you are putting the screws back in a new spoiler then be sure and put Loctite on the thread so they don't vibrate loose.
It is done. Loctite and them some. Massive torque needed to shift them!! I have applied plenty of loctite to the new spoiler. Nice big and carbon!! mmm

Hi Loren. It is from the stock 996 Turbo rear wing. That diagram looks like the aerokit.
The pieces I apparently need to remove are in the bottom of part 1 and attach to the mounts at the top of pt 2 in the diagram. I have a 14mm allen socket (as required) and am struggling to remove them.

To fit into the new carbon wing from Eric at Bumperplugs, I need to get the old bolts out of the old Turbo rear wing. They are hex (allen) bolts that appear to screw in.
Anyone know the size tool I need to get them out or any other suggestions. It is bigger than a 12mm Allen key

I just participated in a group buy on Rennlist for the new Carrera GT key from Brandywine. Following several recommendations I am trying to swap the components from my '04 C4S key into the new CGT key. Unfortunately I am at a loss concerning the metal "key" part: there seems to be no way to remove it from my old key without breaking it.
I am trying to avoid the time and cost of going all the way to my dealer to have the new key reprogrammed. Apparently this method has worked for many others--is there a difference in MY'04 keys?
I know that I am also supposed to move the small capsule containing signals for the steering wheel lock.
To make matters worse, I now cannot snap my original key shut all the way, even though I replaced all components perfectly!
There is a small catch which clips into a notch on the metal key. You need to pull that back and then the key just pulls out. Just persevere with it - it is terribly easy really when you work out how the key is held in.
And the old key definitely goes back together. Sounds like you might be rushing it a bit :) . Check the PCB module is correctly oriented to sit flat.

I have the OEM (ie B&M) SSK in the Turbo S. It is heavy between 1 and 2 but fine 3-6. It is still notchy ie accurate compared with a regular shift.
This is apparently completely normal.

DIJON, France (AP) - Eric Clapton won't be driving in France for a while. Police said they clocked the rock star speeding down a highway at 134 mph and suspended his license.
Radar caught Clapton whizzing down a highway Tuesday in his Porsche 911 Turbo at 53 mph above the speed limit, police said. He was stopped near the town of Merceuil, south of Beaune, near Dijon and some 190 miles east of Paris.
Police confiscated Clapton's British driver's license, suspending his right to drive in France.
Clapton, 59, took the bad news well, agreeing to a photo session with police.
After paying a $922 fine, he then rolled away in his Porsche - this time in the passenger seat with his secretary behind the wheel, police said Thursday.
Clapton can still drive in Britain, but he will have to recover his license through a diplomatic route, police said. A court hearing, at which he need not be present, will determine the time his license is suspended in France.
The French police are getting tougher on British speeders at present. 134mph on a highway was pretty aggressive though even for France.

Brakes
PCCB brakes are really over cost considering the eight piston Brembo brake options available are about half the cost.
They are standard on the Turbo S and essentially you get them for free vs the old Turbo pricing. Agree that I would not have specced them as an option given the price.

there are many directions that you can take if you want to start modding your car. You can narrow it all down if you specify weather you will be tracking your car or not. Once you decide that, it will be alot easier to figure out what to change and what to keep.
Thanks. Car will be primarily used for road driving although a bit of tracking/Nurburgring driving will be on the cards. Don't think the PCCB's will really suit a lot of tracking (even the new version).
Sounds like the PSS9s could be of use. Will probably look to chip the car and add a better exhaust. Probably some interior upgrades.
How does the PSS9 adjustment process work?

Um, well thanks. Already regularly spend plenty of money on driver training. Not exactly the response I was looking for - not fair to assume that everybody buying a new Porsche is unable to drive it well.

With a new turbo on the way and lots of options for playing with things given Carnewal etc, I was keen to get thoughts from the board on the five key things they would change from a factory spec car. These can be functional or visual enhancements.
Car is a 996 Turbo S manual with PCCB (version 2). Short shift.

The Turbo S order guide for the US says that you can fit GT3 wheels at zero cost. Any thoughts on the difference if any other than looks between the two? How do they look on a turbo?

I have that exact same set-up on my tt plus GT2 rear ducts. I have yet to test it's effectiveness in track conditions, but I have no clarence problems with it.
There is a TSB that states that the ducts are not to be used in the TT with ceramic brakes. Check the TSB about the ducts.
Is that just a non-approval, or does the TSB mean there is a potential problem with using them? I read one of the TSB's which seemed a bit vague. Maybe I was looking at teh wrong one. Do you have a TSB number?
Squeaking from front wheel/suspension
in 996 TT, 996 TT S, 996 GT2

Hi guys. Slightly odd problem. I have a quite loud squeak coming from the front of the car when moving. Thought it might be a wheel bearing but it happens when the wheel is unloaded laterally but rolling and seems too high pitched to be a bearing. It seems to take ages to put a car in for service in the UK, any thoughts on whether this could be something to worry about and get emergency assistance to sort out?
No noticeable changes in handling with the car.
All advice appreciated.
