  1. 04 Boxster S hit and run  ! Can someone help me to understand what is needed to remove the front bumper cover and what clips or fasteners I may need to replace when it is reinstalled. Do you have a break-out view of the front bumper that may show what needs to be removed? I have good DIY skills but the more details I can get the better I will be. Thanks
  2. 04 Boxster S with a CDR-23. I need to identify the speedometer sensor wire color? Can you please help?
  3. Warranty ended this Sept. Do you have the instructions for the door panel removal and part # for any clips that may become damaged during the process?
  4. After looking over the wiring diagram for a Targa shade (blinds) switch, its internals appear to be identical to the diagram for a 996TT spoiler control switch which I've attached. BTW, if you find some other switch which has more desirable graphics on it, you should be able to transfer its toggle (cap) over to the body of a Targa shade switch, or 996TT spoiler switch, and use that combination. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, I'll order the Targa switch today.
  5. I would like to thank all the folks that provide the information on this site. I would be in the dark without you. After review of the wiring digram (provided by this site!) of the power window switch I conclude that it can't be used to control two garage door openers and have the illumination lights hooked up too. Can be forced to work if you want to power your garage remote with a battery (not connected to your car in anyway). Can not share the ground of the car or it will short out. I would not recommend trying it. Reviewing the other posts it is concluded that the Targa Switch is the best looking candidate anyway for a garage door hack. Part #:996.613.211.910.A05 Before I order one I was hoping to see a wiring diagram. Any one have one. Another choice I have seen is the spoiler control switch. This one will work very well to control two garage door openers and dash-illumination, but doesn't look as good for a garage door. Thanks
  6. I figured out the switch except for what two spades would be used for the light (internal to the switch, lights when you turn on your dash lights). If I use an adjacent switch for the "light" power what are the wire colors. (2004 Boxster S) Also what color is/are the wires to the powered cell phone connector. Is this wire always hot?
  7. Thanks for the info. What color wire is the "cell phone connector", and is it powered all the time? or is it so obvious I should not ask. I am using a power window switch for the hack, I have figured out the switch wiring except for the internal switch light connectors. I figure to take the power from an adjacent switch. What color wires would this be on a 2004 boxster.
  8. Anyone have a similar problem? When I first put down either window I hear a click/pop sound when the window reaches the bottom. Typically it will not do it twice in a row, which will make it hard to figure out what the cause is or how to fix it. Any ideas?
  9. Getting ready for a couple of DYI hacks on my 04 Boxster S. 1st one is the garage door opener hack. I am replacing one of the blanks in the center console and would like to mount the opener under the hood in case I need to get to it. Two questions. Any recommendations as to where I should take the power from for the remote, and how to run wires through the front “firewall” into the front trunk. The garage remote uses 9V battery, do I need to convert the 12V to 9V? I understand the easiest place to get power for the light in the switch is from an adjacent switch. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
  10. thanks, I did a search and found the bad news. I'll keep in touch if I hear any thing new
  11. 2004 Boxster S with Bose Amp and Speakers and 6 CD changer (P73 option, Sound Pkg, Bose (Digital) Are there any additional inputs available on the back of the radio unit? Trying to hardwire an aux input to the radio unit (ie. my iPod) Don't like the i-Tunes option of transmitting through the FM
  12. Just order some Porsche parts from Sunset Imports. Very helpful and knowledgeable people!
  13. Saw this on a hack. Is this the right part to use with this switch or should I use a Porsche part. VW/Audi Part # 443-972-995 socket on the switch
  14. 2004 Boxster S. Doing a garage door opener hack. What is power window switch part number, and approx cost. Any recommendations for the best price?
  15. Do you still have the problem? What year is your Boxster? Have similar problem with 04 S with fiber optic cable. The dealer when adding Cd changer cut the cable and tried to fix with tape. Does not well. If you have fiber optic cable connecting your unit then look to the cable and or connectors.
  16. I purchased a very nice trickle charger from Wall Mart for less the $25 (auto sensing type) that turns off when battery is fully charged, and comes on again when needed. The unit came with 3 hook-ups. Cigarette lighter, alligator and permanent mount. Used it last winter to keep the battery charged. Worked great! Will have to check at home tonight for the manufacture name.
  17. not to mention that the windows won't go up until the roof is latched not even by activating the window buttons.
  18. Jeff you indicated in your Aug message to use an "electrical gauge you like that reads 0-5 bars" The gauges I have seen are in PSI. Can I use these. How do I determine if the sender unit is compatible? Is there a voltage or mili-amp range I should be looking at? I was considering a digital readout, if I could find one to match the amber porsche boxster color.
  19. Where do you plan on mounting the Pressure gauge.
  20. how is the cover held on? If with straps I would be worried about scratches.
  21. 2004 Black Basalt Metallic Boxster S /w Natural Brown Interior. I would like to add a little extra accent lighting to the interior, but I want it to look stock in color and style (match the radio & dash orange yellow lighting). Any suggestion as to what Porsche or after market lights / LEDs? match. Any suggestions to wiring that would best used assume light source will be located in center of dash around CD holder tray. I would like to use wiring that would provide dimming capacity control with all of the other interior lights.

  23. Is there a way to install a small switch that could be tied into the alarm system and would trigger if the lens cover were disturbed.
