  1. You can also find inserts for the center armrest compartment that will allow you to put drinks in there, though its less convenient and your arm will hit the cup if you're not careful. I simply got a travel mug for my morning blast of cafffffffffeine...too many mornings of trying to juggle a coffee shop cup in my hands while driving a manual in the snow almost left me wrapped around a tree with coffee burns on my legs. ;-)
  2. Tool Pants, how hard is it to retrofit Cruise Control, anyway? I've heard its complicated...
  3. Don't forget that a lot of high-performance brake systems actually have a "normal" squeal, because the compounds are harder than other brakes. A little noise coming from the pads does not necessarily mean that the pads are wearing or that there are any problems. Of course, if the noise drives you nuts, feel free to clean the pads and try to get rid of it for a while. Its simply an inherent noise (from my experience).
  4. My car has never quite run right, and perhaps its because of a dirty/faulty/POS IACV...I've replaced the MAF sensor, had the O2 pumps checked, had vacuum seals checked/fixed....and the engine still sounds like it wants to die when I apply gas at low RPMS, especially when the engine is cold. Once it warms up, the engine runs fine, but until then, it shakes and shudders and lacks all power until about 2000 RPM. So Scott suggested it might be the IACV...and just in case it is, I would like to be able to change the part myself. Is it possible? Where is it? What tools would I need? Due to flying all the time, I don't have much time to do other research on the topic. Any help at all is appreciated...I would LOVE for this car to actually run right for the first time in months! -Kevin :help:
  5. So wait...does the french have anything to do with it? Hmmm...looks like a Nova Scotia license plate, but....it doesn't at the same time.
  6. Called over to the parts bin, and got some good info there. Here's a link to the discussion on 986forum.com http://www.986forum.com/forums/showthread....d=9323#post9323 Hope that helps! I'll let you know how it goes.
  7. Hi Okay, I'm having a tough time finding this part online. The MAF serial numbers are: 0 280 218 009 996 606 124 00 This part is for the 2000 Boxster. I can't find this part number online ANYWHERE. I find a bunch of MAF's, but I'm not sure if this one is discontinued. I've figured out (I think) that its the old version of the MAF. Now the question is trying to find one! The Parts Bin doesn't have any of these numbers on their website. I even called Bosch, but the reps haven't gotten back to me for a while. Any help would be great. If I can't find this part, how much should I expect to pay to get the DME reconfigured to work with the new sensor? I'd like to get this problem solved as soon as possible. -Kevin
  8. Important question- What size bit is used to take out the MAF? I'm trying to have somebody do this for me, as I'm in another state right now and not near the Boxster. Thanks!
  9. There is, of course, the opposite argument to that. (I'm not claiming to be the authority one way or another, just providing fuel for conversation). If the gas pedal is too far forward, then under heavy braking, it might make for an improper balance if the brake pedal is pressed almost all the way, and the gas pedal is too close to you. I agree with the entire thread, in parts. After moving from my Acura into the Boxster, the pedals are set up completely different! I thought at first I was retarded, because I had been doing toe and heel shifting for years...and I couldn't do it at first in the Boxster. But then I realized you have to actually be BRAKING, and not just slowing down, to get it to work smoothly. There you have it, my $0.02, mostly a summary of what others have said.
  10. Scott- That's a pretty impressive engine compartment...I assume you painted most of the pieces, or are those "aftermarket" parts? Seems to me a high-temp paint would do the trick, but not so sure it would work well on the rubber/flexible parts. kevin
