  1. I read the forum about taking an old screwdriver and using it to pry out the tube. I don't know if I'm exactly comfortable sticking an old screwdriver in there to get it out. Can they be easily removed just by reaching in with fingers? I'm not exactly sure how far down the tube goes. Anyways, called Sunset (Man are they the best) ordered 6 new tubes and the 12 o-rings. Figured, if one's leaking... might as well be on the safe side and replace em' all. I'm glad to hear i don't have a serious problem on my hands though.
  2. Hmmm... I did a search for this and couldn't find anything. Anyone know the correct link? THAdvaNceKS!
  3. Hey all, So I decided to replace the spark plugs yesterday, after 77K and noticed upon removing the middle spark plug on the passenger side of the vehicle.... oil all over the spark plug well, and on the coil pack. Thus far, is hasn't caused any issues.... I did an oil separator replacement not too long ago as well, and read that oil can get into the spark plugs, so I'm wondering if it's old oil before that. The other spark plug wells appeared to be fine and dry. Any ideas?
  4. Well it's deffinately a valid key #... hope it's the right one :) Ordered a couple up. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Thanks again!
  5. Could this possible be it? Looks like someone scribbled in WL (Wheel Lock ???) and looks like 023, not sure what the #s above it are.
  6. Hey guys, :o I lost my Porsche Weel Lock Key for my 2000 Porsche Boxster S. Problem is, the nearest Porsche Dealer is pretty far away, I already have a flat and can't really drive the car there, and I need help getting the right Wheel Lock Key. I'm wondering based on the pictures I'm posting, if there's anyway to get the right key ordered and sent to me. Please see pictures below: This is the Wheel - Flat as you can see Pic of the actual locked bolt Another pic of the locked bolt A Picture I drew up of as close as I can get to the actual Locked Bolt Pattern Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! :renntech:
  7. So, I finished the AOS install... all is well and good. Had a few fumes from the exhaust at first, but I also changed the oil and filter today as well. However... I have a slight problem.... Somehow, in the midst of putting the wheel back on, tightening it all down, and going for a drive, I came back and my wheel lock key is no where to be found... I have no idea where it went. Spent the last 2 hours searching for it. Anyone know where I can get a replacement key besides the dealership and what part # i should order?
  8. The AOS is the same whether e-gas or not... the new AOS may look different to the one on your car but it will fit ok. Clean any oil out of the Y-tube you've got and return the new J-tube. Did your AOS come with a new bellows pipe for the bottom connection? If not you will need a new one. Yea I ordered it from Sunsent, the bellows is already attached to it. So you're saying I can just re-use the Y-tube I have and there's no need to order another one?
  9. Hmmm I must not have done my research this time... what's the difference between the "e-gas" boxster, and the other one? Also, I ordered the "J-Tube" so I'm not sure what the part # (or #s) that I need instead. I was replacing the AOS as a precautionary since I'm creeping on 75k. Didn't want to take any chances... unless there's a difference between the e-gas one and the other one where I don't really have to replace the AOS because it's not an issue? I guess what I'm asking is... since there's no J-Tube on my car, do I need to replace that Y-tube assembly instead? If so, is there a part # (or #s) associated to what I need. All I ordered from before was the J-Tube, the AOS, and the Kluber Glep.
  10. Hey guys, My parts for a new AOS arrived yesterday, and I opened up my engine bay and am noticing some serious differences between Mike.Focke's explanation and pics of the AOS. He explains that you need to "Remove the J-tube connecting the oil separator to the throttle body..." Well... I can't find a J-tube that looks anything like what's on my car. Upon closer inspection of this picture... this doesn't exactly look like the same setup mine has. Here's the image from Mike Focke's site: And here's mine: Notice, there is no J-Tube, but there's a Y-tube in front of the Throttle body. ?? Here's a different angle shot. I'm confused... now I'm not sure if I have the right parts for this job. thoughts?
  11. There is also this link, http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...mp;code=flagman It's listed under special offers listed as, "Knurled thumb Screw Kit." I too had the same problem. Had to pull them out with pliers and screwdriver. Then I saw the above link and just ordered those. I believe 5 bucks goes towards Renntech, which is a good thing. Keith Thanks guys! I ordered those thumb screws, looks like a much better design.
  12. Actually, after I had to "pull it through" It appears the bolt / nut assembly was pretty much stripped and/or rusted out. So I'm going to need to replace them for sure anyways. Any idea on what the part # is for the bolt and nut? Thanks again Loren!
  13. Hey guys, I was gonna change my pollen filter this morning, and removed the battery cover, and then proceeded to take out the torx screw on the left side cover to get to the pollen cover. However, the screw just keeps turning and isn't coming out. I also tried the right side, and same thing. How do I get the screw out? I tried applying some back pressure underneath and that doesn't seem to be doing the trick. ???
  14. You could use a hair dryer to heat up the tube a little bit. Also, did you disconnect the tube from the other side? I found it easier if it's disconnected from both ends. A lot of people had trouble taking the tube out and putting it back in. Mine came out with a little wiggling and went in without too much fuss. Good luck! azzar0. Finally got it! Thanks for the help! ;) Actually I was trying to put it on by leaning over the driver's side at an angle and pushing it on. I found it snapped right in, once I took off my shoes, crawled to the middle of the car, and then used both hands to push it on. I also cleaned up the engine bay a bit of all the dust and grease. Much better now ;)
  15. Hey guys, I removed the throttle body today, and the air intake assembly from the throttle body housing. I cleaned up the throttle body, and have been fighting for the last 45 minutes to get the intake tube back on the throttle body. It will NOT go back on. No matter how hard i try. I can get it to go on the top, but not on the bottom. What am I doing wrong? I tried applying a little grease to the lip, and this didn't help. now i'm stuck cause i can't get the dang tube back on. Help!
  16. Hey guys, While I have my "bird's" engine compartment exposed, I figured I should clean some stuff to give her a tune up. Any instructions for proper removal of the throttle body to clean it? I saw some posts on what to use for cleaning (i.e. brake cleaner etc.) but was wondering steps etc. to actually remove it, or precautions I should take beforehand. Don't have my bentley guide yet, but it's supossed to be here next week. Thanks! :renntech:
  17. Wow, SunCoast is awesome! WAY cheaper than any other parts shops I've ordered from in the past. THE AOS was only $83 compared to Pelican's $118. And New spark plugs only cost be $43. Got everything you guys recommended ordered, and they said they're shipping today! ;) Can't wait to get to work on nursing my baby! ;) Thanks!
  18. Any recommendation on the spark plugs, fuel filter, etc I should use? I'm ordering parts from Pelican today. She's sitting in my garage already in "maintainence" mode! :) Oh and fyi, not that it really matters because I'm replacing it anyways, but where the heck is the Part # on the AOS? Also, Pelcian lists the "J-tube" as Part # 996-107-145-06-M100, however, says it's for Boxster 1997-99. Will this work on my 2000 Boxster S ? Thanks!
  19. No idea, I don't have any service record on it.
  20. I have the same issue, only sometimes the remote works (but i have to be super close to the car, and even then sometimes it doesnt work) and sometimes it doesn't work. The key works just fine. I replaced the battery with a new one, and same results. ???
  21. Just out of curiosity, what does "one" honk mean? It happens occassionally but not all the time. Sometimes, I'll turn the key and both doors will lock. Othertimes, it only locks / unlocks the main door. ???
  22. It's possible the connection in the back is loose, and the lights aren't "officially" locked in. I had this problem originally when I replaced my headlights with the litronics. A good test is to try pushing with some force on one of the headlights to see if the xenon comes on. If it does, it means your litronics aren't properly locked. If that's the case, The most likely problem is that the "headlight" hex key is warped like mine was and wasn't strong enough to turn the locking mechanism to the point where it actually locks them in. An easy workaround, is to take a ratchet with an extension and a 10mm socket. You have to apply SIGNIFICANT force to really lock them. You'll know they're locked when you a CLUNK. The original Porsche HEX key is easily warped and can't take all that force without turning in the lock. Give this a shot, and let me know.
  23. Hi all, I figured I'd post this since I keep reading things about "common" problems occurring on the Boxster S. I'm looking for ideas of things I should consider replacing given I bought my 986 used, and she has 73K on her now. I've already checked and/or done the following: 1) Replaced Transmission with a brand new Trans 2) Replaced all 4 Tires - 18" Pirelli P-Zero Nero's M/S - OEM Tires 3) Replaced Clutch with a brand new Clutch Kit 4) Checked Belt for wear and tear... looks brand new 5) Checked AOS, and replacing as a precausionary item 6) Replaced Coolant Resovouir Tank sensor Just trying to figure out anything I can do as a precausionary to running into "bigger" problems down the road. Don't really want to end up having her crash and burn to a point I have to tow ;) Appreciate the help!
  24. Hmmm I'm wondering if I should replace the AOS just as a precautionary... I'm not having any immediate problems, but I'd rather be safe than sorry later. I'm going to inspect it first, and check the part #. Seems to me, if I have the ORIGINAL AOS, It's almost better to replace it with an 04 or higher version anyways since this seems to be a common problem. Not to mention my babe has 73k on it already. What do you guys think? Also, Anyone know where I can get the "puck adapter" for my floor jack for a good price? Thanks!
