  1. Is that really a TRG car? I would think they would do a better job on it than that. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but a GT3 cup car it ain't.
  2. Sounds mechanical now. I had the same thing.....light on, clamshell moves, then clickity clack sounds and then nothing but a flashing light. What was it? It was the flaps on the side that fold down when the top is up and come back up flush with the rest of the back dash area when the top is down. They had to replce them since they were getting stuck. Mine was done under warranty so I have no idea what is cost.
  3. AS long as it is "touched-up" nicely (i.e., paint, clear, buff, polish). What you don't want is obvious touch ups because they will be inaccessible once the clear bra is on. Just make sure that the chip is touched up even with the rest of the paint job. Avoid craters or bumps.
  4. Quality of the installer is the most important. If you get shotty work it will look so cheap (orange peel, wrinkles, bad cuts, eneven, discoloration, etc.). I paid about $1K for mine and it was worth every penny. You can't even tell that it is on.
  5. I have the clear bra on my 996CAB and had the front bumper, hood, and fenders done. Absolutely love it. Very easy to maintain and have NO rock chips. Especially love it when I track the car. But......the clear bra is one of those things like tires and exhaust. Totally subjective and what one person loves, another hates. Go with your gut.
  6. Thanks for the compliment! It also helps at stabilize the car better at higher speeds when I track it.
  7. Actually it is $99,911 USD which is posted on the Porsche site (see below). I would buy it if I could choose a different color and wheels. I am with you as well, I would prefer a GT3. Only 50 will be made. (1) For one lucky PCA member (1) For the Porsche museum (48) For 48 lottery winners of those interested in purchasing it. 4. The Vehicle. Pursuant to this Offer, there are forty eight (48) Vehicles that will soon be available for purchase. Each Vehicle available for purchase features the following: Azurro California exterior color, Full Leather (customer choice of standard colors), Powerkit X51 (381hp), Sport Chrono Pkg, Sport Shifter, 19” Sport design Wheel, Black Instrumental Dials, Sport Seats, Rear Center Console Ext. Color, Thicker Sport Steering Wheel, Stainless Steel Door Sills “PCA logo”, Badge on door trim “PCA x/50” (MSRP of vehicle: US$99,911). Vehicles are subject to availability. Although each Vehicle has a MSRP of US$99,911, PCNA cannot and will not require the Dealer to sell the Vehicle at any particular price, and the winner and the Dealer must negotiate the price between themselves. Additional options on Vehicles requested by Selected Registrant will increase the Vehicle’s MSRP.
  8. I did the supercup lip spoiler on my 996. Do a search and you will find the thread.
  9. This is the very reason why I just hold my factoy top swithc for all of 15 seconds. Besides being convenient, the risk is just not worth the 15 seconds.
  10. I figured as much but wasn't sure what type of "pro racer" you were talking about.
  11. Never turn the engine off??? Now that is an idea I like! :)
  12. The GT3 runs 8.5 fronts and 11 rears.
  13. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showforum=45
  14. As I am. 0W-40 till technology changes. If Mobil 1 made a 5W-50 then I would buy it. But as long as Porsche and Mobil are standing at 0W-40, so am I. I do appreciate all the input from you guys! I am very educated now to oil and its properties. Learn something new everyday. Cheers, Dell
  15. My thinking is that a 0W-50 oil would be the best protection?
  16. Looks like a switch to the EP line is where I need to be to get the 10W-40 or 10W-50 oil since i can't get ANY of those combo's in the 1 line. Concur?
  17. O.K., so I did some more research on the oil I currently use and then the one rec'd by Jim (50W) and below are the data for the oil respectively. Can anybody please interpret some of this so I can understand it in "plain English"? After all the reading I have done, I am still stumped. Thanks to Jim for the links.....very informative. MOBIL 1 0W-40 // MOBIL 1 EP 15W-50 Viscosity, ASTM D 445 // 445 cSt @ 40º C 80 // 133 cSt @ 100º C 14.3 // 18.2 Viscosity Index, ASTM D 2270 187 // 153 Sulfated Ash, wt%, ASTM D 874 1.2 // 1.42 HTHS Viscosity, mPa·s @ 150ºC ASTM D 4683 3.6 // 4.43 Pour Point, ºC, ASTM D 97 -54 // -42 Flash Point, ºC, ASTM D 92 236 // 241 Density @15º C kg/l, ASTM D 4052 0.855 // 0.866 Thanks again!
  18. 212? I assume that is F? Do you have any documentation that you could point me towards. Thanks everybody! Thanks for helping me learn about this stuff so I am not just doing what I am told by a piece of paper but rather making informed decisions. BTW, I would be curious to know what the cup cars in the GT class are running (just the Porsche's) during those grueling long days at high RPM's???
  19. Jim....QUIT SCREWING WITH THE NEW GUYS!!!!! :P FYI...Jim is quite the comedic antagonist againt the use of clear bra's!
  20. Looks like I will just stick with the 0W-40 and stock up next time I see it. Didn't see anything as 1999P911 rec'd like the 15W-50 other than the "SUV" formula in the EP line. Maybe somebody can explan the pro's and cons of 0 v. 5 for the winter (W) weight and 40 v. 50 for the high end on the blends. I have read extensively on this and still don't see what I gain and in fact can possible hinder by deviating from the 0W-40.
  21. Well, the 5W does make more sense than 0W out here but I am not sure about the 40 v. 50 weight issue for the higher temps. It sounds like they (my local dealer) should be using and rec'd the 5W-50 for this region. Low about 20 F in the winter and high about 120-125 F in the summer. Thoughts on that logic? FYI....Mobil 1 doesn't list a 50 weight oil just the EP line and it is 15W-50. Also, they don't list a 5W-40 or 5W-50....just in 5W is the 5W-20 and 5W-30 in the 1 line and 5W-30 in the EP line.
