  1. Great idea! The black, square pads, put pressure on my Techart side skirts, which I never liked. I'd like to implement your pin setup. Can you tell me where to buy the pin and what size of spring you used? Is that a plastic washer too? Thanks!
  2. I just happened to replace the "tension roller" (bearing) last week. When I ordered it, Suncoast confirmed the 996 part is superseded by 997.102.117.00 -- cost $89.05.
  3. Purchased both part numbers below from Suncoast. Unfortunately, neither is correct/corresponds to the part needed in photo above. Fortunately, they're allowing me to return the parts. I'm going to follow up with Suncoast again, see if we can nail this down. Not Correct 986-501-815-00-GRV 996-501-815-02-GRV
  4. I managed to bugger up this horseshoe-like part that provides resistance when screwing in the hard line to the stainless steel brake hose. Is this part an off-the-shelf item at an auto part store? Or will it be a Porsche only part? Thanks for the help.
  5. Thanks for telling us about Jehnert. The rear doorboards are exactly what I've been looking for! I have 6.5" MB Quart mid-range speakers that have been sitting in my garage for two years. Galaxy S, Xoom.... you're not a fan of Android, are you? LOL. (Me too! Java Developer) Have you heard about Torque OBD 2? http://torque-bhp.com/software/torque-android-obd2-adapters/ (I have no affiliation with this product.) Could be a nice addition to your teched-out car. - Doug BTW, here's a link to my DIY sound system install: http://dougturner.dyndns-ip.com/porsche/sound_system_2009/
  6. Just had a "duh" moment. Didn't realize that photo was shot from the engine side. Thanks the hand holding! LOL
  7. Thanks very much Loren. BTW, just donated. EDIT : Is the photo you posted for a 996 or a Boxster? I removed the six T40 torx-headed bolts and moved the passenger rollbar assembly to expose the area beneath it. The relay carrier is not there! This has turned into the case of the missing relay carrier. Where else could it be? The car is a 2000 996 C2 Cab. Thx.
  8. Can anyone help me locate the relay carrier #2 that holds the relay for the engine compartment fan? From the research I've done here and other forums, the location for a cabriolet is NOT the same as a coupe. Attached is a photo taken of the area behind the rear seat backs. Thx in advance. - Doug
  9. Here are some of my photos of an install I did last year. It may give you some ideas on routing wires, etc. My DIY Sound System Install
  10. Thank you Loren. I know, I'm due for a membership. :) Unfortunately, my transmitter may fall into the "less than .000001%" of the cases, since a multimeter proves voltage is full on the new battery, yet after replacing it, the LED is still lit.
  11. Unfortunately, after replacing the battery, the LED is still solid red. The microswitch is NOT stuck in the down or on position. When pressing it, one can hear the distinct "clicking" of the switch. Any other advice? Currently I'm physically unlocking the driver side door with the key. Once I'm inside the car, and close the door, I hear the door locks actuate, and a solid red light appears on the door switch in the middle console. I've never experienced that before. I use the switch to lock and unlock the doors, and the red light on the switch turns off. Sounds like I need a new pcb board in the key?
  12. Recently, the red light on my ignition key to 2000 C2 Cab came on, and hasn't yet turned off after 3 days. I searched here and a few other forums. One thought it was static electricity problems. Is it a warning to change the battery? Thx?
  13. I did a DIY removal of the bumperettes. After removing a few bolts, the aluminum bumperette frame is exposed. I ended up removing the whole rear bumper frame, then drilling out the rivets that hold on the bumperette frame. Best advice is to have a quality body shop plastic weld the EXACT SAME plastic type (vw, audit, etc.) to fill in the holes. Afterwards, a paint job. You can install the bumper yourself. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996/175...ete-photos.html
  14. How many miles does the engine have? Any damage there? Could be some demand for the engine. I say part it out if possible.
  15. A local shop in Kansas City replaced my worn-out canvas top with an aftermarket GAHH top that has the rear glass window. The top is very high quality. Total cost parts & labor $2300. I do a lot of work on my car, but the canvas top is not one I would want to attempt. The shop does ALL of the convertible top work for dealers in the KC area... and it still took them 1 1/2 days to complete.
  16. Hello everyone. While putting the center console back together last night, after running speaker wire to subwoofers in the rear, I forgot to connect a wire an electrical connector (below). Where the heck does this go? I appreciate the help.
  17. Wow, a lot of educational material has surfaced since my posting on this thread. Perry, did you end up posting a PSS9 installation pictorial? If so, please share. If not, could you please email me Bilstein's instructions? Sending you a PM with my email address. Thanks!
  18. I think your combo would be fine IF you had the correct aftermarket suspension components to prevent the rubbing. I have 19" Champion Motorsport RG5 wheels with rear Pirelli P-Zero 295/30s and front Michelin Pilot Sport 235/35s. But also have the Bilstein PSS9s coilovers. What will also help a lot is to roll your fenders. Lot of good info in this thread too: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996/142...eels-996-a.html Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing!
