  1. the alum bumper bar will be exposed w a TT bumper. some trim the sides, some use spray paint or black tape to cover it up. the bar has nothing to do with structural integrity. it's just wider on C2 and will protect the front end/radiator better.
  2. front will fit but with a gap under the radiator. u can use a plastic sheet to cover up the gap. rear won't fit as TT is a widebody. you'll need to cut bumper in 1/2 and take out a center portion.
  3. Wow, that's a very generous offer. Wish you well with the give-away and finding a buyer with good use of it.
  4. excellent paint job for whole car would be $5k+ easy in CA where labor is expensive. to repaint the door, you are probably looking about $600-800. any minor scratches that isn't too deep can be buffed out. it's better than a full repaint. if you can feel it with your nail, it probly needs repaint.
  5. why not just put all the jack, tool etc in some bubble wrap? The styrofoam serves the same purpose.
  6. if ur ok w 90% perfection, touch up would be fine. i doubt touchup will give you perfect result though. it really depends how anal u r
  7. I need to swap mufflers next wkend. Anyone with a lift?
  8. It would seriously affect resale of the car. I would not do it. Just trade for another black, plenty of them on the market. Many parts of the car cannot be repainted so your car will always be two tone when someone does a PPI on it or look closely.
  9. not sure about ignition's connection to light switch. I'd change the light switch 1st. clean the contacts at the headlight if you're experiencing only 1 light failure.
  10. I heard great reviews for Adv Leather's restoration work. I may need to take my MB there to fix a few things. For condition, I use Zaino, which gives a great leather smell.
  11. Most 99-00 996 have lower mileage between 30-75k. It should have no problem making 150k but i would not bank on over 200k. Just look at 993 or 964, most have major issues w engine at some point which turns into a money pit. If you are going to put a lot of miles, I'd recommend a Japanese car. They run forever. I know that's not what you are looking for though!
  12. Flashing red lite when pressed is normal. It means it's transmitting. If no light, battery in key is dead.
  13. Get it from dealer. It's about $15 or something like that. Raggtop is also a good choice. It's $27 though.
  14. I have a set of 4 in black for $75 + actual shipping. These came from a 996. I have a set of custom llyod's mat now with red script and border. If you are interested in my OEM one, let me know.
  15. You can't replace just 1 if you have only 50% tread left on the other side. The min on the other side is 70%. Replace both rears.
  16. check fuse. is there power coming out of the harness? i'd start with that to narrow down the issue.
  17. I really don't think installing a used top is a good idea. Material isn't that expensive so I'd go with a new GAHH's top. I think there is a how to on this on this board... Sorry but I don't have a link to it. Maybe you can do some searching...
  18. my switch was replaced under warrant around 25k mi. it failed once but only on one side. in your case, i'd think it's the switch. replace it.
  19. Did u check the clutch fluid? Mine was hard to shift due to low fluid.
  20. I think your fluid is good til about 60k. Can't remember what the manual says under severe condition. I think it's either 60 or 90k. Can't hurt changing the fluid but it's not really needed. There is a dedicated radiator just for tiptronic fluid. Just my opinion.
  21. I don't think 21k mi and a track day will require ATF change.
  22. stick with what the manual recommends. why are you changing atf on a new car anyways?
  23. At least it's found. I've had cars stolen and never identified. Sorry to hear about it. Time to start looking for the next ride!
