  1. Yes, they were surprise to see an XM factory unit for a 911 since it was not offered for MY 2005, but they entered it in the PCM. So before they entered it in the system, my PCM read: Satellite Radio: Found: Yes Entered: No After the dealer entered it in the PCM with the PWIS it reads: Satellite Radio: Found: Yes Entered: Yes Even so, I can not access the Satellite radio unit. Thanks
  2. I have tried the same installation, and everything fits as described here, however I am not able to access the XM tuner from the radio. I am pressing either the FM or AM button to cycle but I do not get it to display or activate. If I press TRIP/MAIN, I can see that the PCM lists the Sat Radio as FOUND and ENTERED. I have PCM ver 2.1 with no phone button. Any suggestions/Help?
  3. I used the NAV TV version, which is the one that DICE labels as their own. It works well, but I am using a PCM with Nav. I'm not sure if it will work on your unit. If the compatibility charts list yours, then you should be Ok.
  4. Is it possible to remove the third brake light without removing the panel? My third brake light has moisture inside the lens, I would like to clean it up. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the responses. I ordered the parts today from my dealer. They should arrive before the weekend. I will give it a try by going DIY. I found it interesting as well to find a bolt loose to the point of falling. It does not seem to have caused any damage. I bought the car used, so no idea about any past work done in that area.
  6. Thanks for your reply. What about any other requirements beside putting the bolt and retainer? Alignment, or other? Thanks again.
  7. While driving under normal conditions, I heard a noise coming from the right rear wheel. At first it sounded as if the tire had picked up a rock, but soon it turned into a louder sound as if something was hitting the inside of the fender well. Upon inspection I found that one of drive shaft pan head screws (see picture) had come loose and was missing. As a result, the drive shaft retaining plate was held by only one screw instead of the two required. This caused the retainer plate to hit the body of the car thus producing the noise I heard. The question: Is there any special instructions like torque requirements when re-installing the bolt and plate? The car was not driven much after the incident, but I would like to know if an alignment or other procedure are required after the installation of a new bolt and plate. Thanks
  8. Anybody on the question from Berty? How do you access the satellite tuner, through the CDC button maybe??
  9. Thanks for your post Arnie, I will be looking into the amp warning next. Marco
  10. Screen shots of my PCM software level. And another... Nav screen software level nav unit software
  11. You are correct the Durametric has limited programing capability (but is thousands less dollars than a PIWIS). Is the Durametric capable tp do updates to the MOST ring?
  12. Thanks for your help Berty. I'll be sure to post the other PCM information. What do you think about this DIY alternative to the PWIS? http://www.durametric.com/
  13. Thanks Berty. I wil post those. I do have a question, Arnie mentioned the use of a PWIS to reset the warning icon. Is the PWIS similar to the VAG-COM used on VW/Audis? The local dealer has not been very helpful or don't seem to have much knowledge of the upgrade process.
  14. Very interesting and definitively educational article. Thanks to all for this great information. Recently I placed a call to NAV-TV inquiring about their Porsche compatible products (Satellite radio, Bluetooth, Ipod), and the tech support guy recommended that before trying any of them, to first update the PCM to SW 3.0 He said that it should be an easy process, and that a Porsche dealer should be able to do it in no time, and for free. Well not so easy, I called my local Porsche dealer. The service advisor said that he was not familiar with it, and that he was going to call me back once he found out some information. This was about three weeks ago, and I have not heard back from him. Looking at this article, I was able to check my SW version. My PCM SW version is at 1.0, it looks just like Arnie’s EXCEPT the amplifier software. Mine has a Red Triangle instead of a check mark. The triangle seems as a warning. The SW version for the Bose amp is 17500. Any ideas to be able to perform the upgrade??
