  1. Just an update, car passed emissions today with no problems. New MAF sensor $252 at Pelican Parts 5 minutes labor. Just a tip for the connector, take the unit out of air box and depress button, then using a 3/16" flat blade screwdriver lift the small lock tab up 1/16" and the plug comes right out. I tried the "shop manual" way for 15 minutes and it was not coming apart. There is something about Porsche/Audi/VW connectors that they are made to stay connected :D Love the forum :renntech: Thanks, Steve
  2. I am palnning to change fluid next weekend, what tools are used (Torx, Star Hex etc)? I have a 2001 C2 manual 6 speed. Thanks Steve
  3. dr914jr No K&N, the CEL has cleared and the car seems OK. I failed NY emissions because I cleared the codes but didn't allow the car enough miles for OBD II to report the status. Of course I bought a new MAF sensor from Pelican ($252) and am wondering if I'll pass with my old one. Ah, I'm going to put in the new one and drive 100 miles this weekend. Hopefully that will solve my problem. Steve
  4. Thanks guys, I just cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner and it actually got worse, rough idle and CEL came right on. Checked wires and all. Guess I'll give it one more try then replace the MAF. Wire wasn't visibly damaged or dirty but I guess you never know. THanks again
  5. Hope you guys can help me diagnosing what might be wrong with my 2001 C2. I am getting codes 1128 and 1130 idle adaptation both banks. Have this coming up twice over the last 350 miles. I have done plugs, air filter, oil, belt over the last 500 miles. I have checked the MAF wiring, vacuum hoses etc for leaks. Runs great at 775 rpm idle and no problems in rev range, Durametric shows no misfires, no other codes. Please share the multitude of experience on Renntech! Thanks
  6. Check Pelicanparts.com they can get everything, decent pricing sometimes cheaper than Sunset or Suncoast. Good luck
  7. That is cool :clapping: How much to make another set? I would love 1 Steve
  8. I had the CEL pop up 2 weeks ago, changed the air filter last week, and yesterday read those same codes with Durametric. Reset codes, drove 150 miles yesterday and codes have not reappeared. Figure I had an air leak at the Throttle body or around the MAF that I may have fixed during air filter replacement. Dealer may have left something loose on yours, check the hoese clamps, MAF connector, oil cap and any vacuum hoses for leaks. Steve
  9. I attempted to change my fuel filter in my 2001 C2 and I guess the picture shown at the top of the post is after the transmission bracket was removed. This is the most service unfreindly installation I have ever attempted. Finally after not being able to remove the ground wire off of the lug, I surrendered and reinstalled the under tray panels before I broke something. Any tips/photos on actually getting the old one past the coolant pipes and the new one back in. No wonder they made in non serviceable for 2002. Car has 48000 mi and I am doing all the fluids and filters, guess I may have to go to a dealer or indy shop. Thanks Steve
  10. Hope Loren or someone can help with a part #. Just got my 2001 C2 and need the plastic knob on the fold down seat drivers side. Just got my car from Arizona on Wednesday and just love it. Cant really drive cause of the weather but have gone 15 miles before the snow hit. Thanks Steve
  11. Pendenjohn If your warm oil pressure is only 1 bar (15psi) then your bearings are worn or you have an internal oil gallery leak. When the car is moving under load what does the OP gauge read? If it doesn't rise to 3-4 bar then the sending unit may be bad, if it does it would seem your engine is worn. I would use the 15W50 as the heavier weight oil will provide a little more 'cushion' between the bearings and bearing surfaces. If you notice any heavy knocking sounds (not ticking) it's time for a rebuild or Porsche remaufactured swap. Good Luck Steve
