    Man, why would they paint the bumper cover on the car, that is very quick and dirty and you ended up with very quick and dirty. Take it to a detail shop and tell the original shop you are filing a claim in small claims court. Even if you dont maybe you can get them to pay for the buff out of your car. Good luck man.

    Finished the install this weekend. All went well using fabspeed MkII tips and the MKII lower heatshield. Did not change the muffler heat shield/mounting brackets on each side and had only 1 of the 2 holes align, just used hex head #10 self tapping sheet metal screws and secured into the plastic brace. Solid as a rock and looks great. Also had to order MKII license plate lams as those are different from the MkI's. All in all love the look and will post pics as soon as the stripe kit goes on. Steve

    Gator Thanks. I have MK 2 tips from fabspeed and I ordered the MK2 heatsheild and small bracket that mount to the bumper for a MK2. I have the Euro bumper cover with no cutouts and have removed the brackets from my bumper bar (drill out 2 rivets on each side). I think it should fit without too much trouble. I'll let everyone see next week as I am getting my parts back from the paint shop this Friday. Steve

    Loren Thanks for the reply. I am using a 99-01 front Aerokit nose so thats no problem. Do you think the mufflers have to be replaced or jost the tailpipes, seems that tailpipes fit all 996 model years when I look at vendor description. I guess a little fab and parts hunting may be in order. Thanks Steve

    Guys I am faclifting my 2001 996 C2 with Aerokit Front Bumper, Aerokit II rockers, GT3RS rear deck and wing and a Euro Spec 2004 Rear Bumper cover. My question is has anyone tried this and do the existing anchor points match up. I priced the different parts shown for 02- and its $627 from Pelican. I'm trying to avoid spending my 3rd radiator kit money. Thanks Steve

    Anyone know the part #s for the wire harness retaining clips? Need some for the MAF harness and the Aerokit wiring under the decklid. Thanks Steve

    If I understand the 2 answers Loren thinks I should add 10mm spacers to move my wheel towards the ouside of the car. Dharn 55 you think I am going to be already too far out and they will rub. Planning on using the 285/18s that give the proper rolling circumference. Sorry if I'm not well versed but 10mm is a little more than 3/8" is it that tight? Thanks again Steve

    Loren I am looking at GT3 replica wheels in 18 x 8.5 ET52 and 18 x 10 ET 54 will these work on 2001 C2? Thanks for the help. Steve

    Bruce You went with Bilstein HD ? If you have the part #s I would appreciate it. My 01 has 49000 and the stock shocks don't seem to be able to keep up with the small bumps, lots of chatter when encountering small multiple road imperfections. Thanks Steve

    Bosch platinum +4s. Ordered from pelican changed my Beru's at 47500, tell you the truth not much difference, maybe slightly smoother idle at start up. Good idea to install when engine is out, pain in the *** in place. Good luck with getting back on the road. Steve

    I am not an expert but believe it will bolt in no problem. The car has to have e-gas pedal 2000.5 and up, I think there are differences with the air con/power steering connection and I'm not sure but you would have to change the DME (engine computer). Any one else? I understand you can get a 997 3.6 cheaper than a 996 3.4 or 3.6 from Porsche.

    Scuba You don't have a replaceable filter it is integral in the tank. Count yourself lucky because I did mine on my 2001 C2 and it was the dumbest installation ever. Got it done but you have to squeeze between the coolant hoses and the ground wire doesn't want to come off.....etc. Not very mechanic freindly, guess it keeps the billable hours up for the dealer techs.     I replaced the fuel filter on my 1999 C2 yesterday and the ground wire was difficult to remove. I cracked the plastic cover on the connector using long nose plyers and a screwdriver to remove it , but it's still useable. The filter can be removed by passing it through the tunnel to the rear and squeezed between the rubber coolent tubes were they bend up to the engine. Got it done last weekend :renntech: Broke one of the coolant tube clips though :angry: reordered through Pelican, no problem. Thanks for the help.

    Thanks hi8 readthrough some of them, lots of tips so I think I'll figure it out. I just don't like cutting into wiring harnesses, can cause alot of problems with German cars. Thanks again Steve

    Perry As you can tell by my sig we're 'paisans'. I have tried the search here and not much comes up, I believe Loren posted the schematics for the stereo and the amps so at least I'll be able to check the pin outs. Hi8ha, car is 2001 Carrera 2 with factory door speakers and amp.

    I used this spot for the gps antenna from my DNX 5120 and it was perfect, there is a steel base under the cover that the magnetized antenna sat right in and by opening the plastic where the alarm wires pass down you have a clear shot to the back of the center stack. :D

    Has anyone done an amplifier upgrade using the stock wiring? I have installed a Kenwood DNX 5120 Double DIN nav unit using all the factory connections with preouts going to the stock amp and I need more power to drive the speakers. I would like to swap the factory amp for something more powerful and was wondering if anyone knew of harness plugs that could be used to interface and the wiring schematic to go with it. Car is a 2001 Carrera 2 with door speakers/factory amp. Thanks, Steve
