  1. Suncoast now stocks them... http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//RS40DPS.html
  2. I'll post up a link I found tonight (It's saved on my home PC) I know you need to remove the driver side intake manifold and it's a about a 10 hour job if you DIY... Suncoast parts just posted a Newly available Cup Motorsport version of the AOS which will work on boxter/Carrera that seems to be a lot more robust...I just had my Porsche mechanic install a new OEM AOS on my 2000 996 C4...a recent track day overwhelmed my original AOS and it appeared I had destroyed my 3.4L but it was just the AOS.
  3. Is this just a preventative once you reach a certain mileage or will it help with the transfer of torque to the front. I sometimes wonder if my C4 is really transfering up to 40% drive to the front but I think it has more to do with how warmed up the car is and how well the viscous fluid is thickening up. What type of fluid did you use and do these front diffs have a limited slip...either physical or virtual? Great write up...thanks! :renntech:
  4. I don't know if we're seeing the front axle providing drive because it is in the air but from a stopped low traction situation I would hope you would see some front wheel rotation if the rear diff is spinning.
  5. I suspect it would be the TC, Traction Control, Trac, mode of PSM that would "freak" and the only result of that would be dethrottling of the engine along with braking of (both..??) spinning wheel(s). Will disabling PSM also disable TC/Trac...?? Probably not, since it is the PSM's TC/Trac sub-mode that is used to "virtualize" a rear LSD. So, with PSM/TC/Trac is the VC worthless, can/will it ever come into "play". Does anyone have the part number for the center viscous clutch and how hard is it to replace it? If they start to wear out around 70K I think I'm due for a new unit as my C4 had no front drive this morning when I got stuck on a 20 degree slope with 1-2 inches of fresh snow... I haven't found any DIY articles on replacing this so I'm trying to figure out how much this is going to cost or if I can replace the part myself.
  6. What is involved in replacing the viscous clutch. I believe it is located in the front differential so i would think it would be an easy change out. My 2000 C4 seems to not deliver front drive as much as I think it should. Today when I was stopped on hill on about an inch of snow I could not move forward. I got out and and had my friend try and accelerate but the rear tires would just spin and I didn't see either of the front tires even trying to rotate. PSM was on so I'm not sure if i should have turned it off or if it even has anything to do with the viscous clutch. I'm not sure what the definitive test for the C4 system is but i suspect at around 70,000 miles the viscous clutch starts wearing out and it's ability to transfer power tapers off. Does anyone know how much a new viscous clutch cost?
