  1. They wrapped the electrical wires and the 2 orange FO cables in a cloth tape (reminds me of what I used to use on my hockey sticks :D )--nice, neat job. You have to look pretty closely to notice them. Where did you have it installed?
  2. I had my V1 installed to the right of the rear view mirror, and the installer ran the wire from the fuse panel (where he got power), removed the drivers door weatherstrip and ran the wire up that area to where the A pillar and the headliner support intersect, and fished the wire between the A pillar trim and roof (took a while with stiff wires, etc.) and then between the headliner support and roof, to the right side of the rear view mirror. It wasn't easy to fish the wire between the A pillar trim and the roof, but I wanted to avoid taking the A pillar trim off (his first suggestion) because I didn't want to risk introducing any squeaks.
  3. Jeff, that's about how far I got--I guess I should have stopped taking things apart sooner! :D Seriously--anybody have instructions?
  4. I'm considering getting the leather steering wheel airbag cover for my '04 Carrera. Is this something I can install myself? If so, does anybody have instructions? TIA.
  5. FWIW, I paid $350 for the CD changer install at Carlsen. Apparently they've done a bunch of these, and clearly know how to do it. It's definitely not brain surgery, but then again, our brains don't use the MOST bus (yet! :D ).
  6. When I had my CD changer installed they used part number 996-622-705-00. This is for a C2, Bose, no telephone. It looks like Raman has the wrong part number, unless the Boxster part numbers are different.
  7. Well...almost done...you may want to put your stereo up for sale on eBay, since you'll probably not use it anymore... :D :D :D
  8. The console surround is easily removed. Use a plastic spatula and carefully pry the lower outside corner (careful not to damage the leather dash), then pull with your fingers toward you, and repeat on other side.
  9. This thread talks about the plug. I installed it a week ago and like the slight increase in engine music. :clapping: And they'll send you a free sample! http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=811
  10. In the interest of giving credit where credit is due, the light mod was from Ed on funcarsonline, with lots of assistance from Loren! :clapping:
  11. Actually, this post from that forum explains it: :D :D Leute, Leute, Leute! Jens
  12. So Jeff...as a new years gift to those of us wondering...what is that thing???
  13. My '04 Carrera came with a multimedia owner's manual, like the Boxster one shown above.
  14. You can see the dimensions here (the 8th one from the bottom): http://www.niagaraplastics.com/prodcentp.a...htm&tabletype=1
  15. The light is attached to the outside of the circular fan frame on the engine compartment lid, at about the 5:00 position, sticking out to the right. Perhaps the bulb burned out--the clear bulb cover faces straight down, so it's easy to miss if the bulb doesn't light.
  16. I got these in the mail yesterday. I have PSE--will installing this cap make a noticeable increase in sound, or will the lovely music of PSE make this unnoticeable? And could somebody explain what this mod does to improve sound? I see it blocks off the smaller air hose, and inside the airbox there's a "muffler" so this cap prevents some of the air (that used to go through the small hose) from being "silenced" by the muffler? Is that it?
  17. OK, Jeff, now that we know where it goes--what is it already??!! :D
  18. When I looked at the diagram you posted, it looked like it was pointing to the hole that's further back--closer to the windshield--not the one in the center of the hood...no wonder I couldn't figure out what it was... :D Sounds like a job for Eric at Bumperplugs..or is it Hoodplugs...get that baby painted to match...
  19. The suspense is killing me! I checked my car again last night and I cannot for the life of me figure out what purpose a rubber grommet in that hole would serve. Maybe it would hold the spare in place on rough roads... :D
  20. OK--it looks like we all give up--what is item 18 in Jeff's post?
  21. When I installed the spoiler dash switch, getting the blank out took a bit of effort. Grab it from the back with pliers, and rock it one way while pulling.
  22. I just checked my car, and all I have at that location is a hole, where that item would be presumably be inserted. My guess is it's a spittoon, a ROW item, but unavailable in US (and particularly in CA), since we frown upon smoking around here... :D
