  1. Today right after getting gas, I noticed my ABS and TC off buttons were illuminated... The battery meter is right under 14 though.. but when I put the headlights on it drops slightly.. Could it be the alternator again?? I'm completely lost.. Edit: The lights went away on their own. Im not sure whats going on..
  2. Try 6477 or 6475 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I have tried 6477 6475 6473 6479 6481 and 6469. Do you have any other suggestions?

  5. Installed the new alternator. Note: putting it in the car isn't easy eaither (at least its easier than getting it out though!) Car is running like new again ;) Thanks for the help everybody
  6. update: took the alternator out. Found a nice DIY on renntech...not an easy job! The links I posted in my original post were a great help though. Took the alternator to autozone. They tested it and said that it failed.. ordered a new alternator.
  7. update: I recharged the battery for 5 hours and the car started right up. All of the lights were on on the bottom console. The battery indicator/voltage regulator was reading about 12. When I put the headlights/AC/Radio on, the reading was dropping slightly. Im guessing it means that the alternator is no good. Before I go ahead and replace that, how can I check to see if the voltage regulator is bad?
  8. The battery is only 2 years old. I don't think its the battery because the car shut off while driving 20mph! I thought that the alternator would keep the car powered if it is already started. Would a dead batteyr have the car die after it was started? I think it is either the alternator or the voltage regulator. But I am open to suggestions
  9. I have a 99 996 6spd. For the past few months, it has been a little slow to start. I have to leave the kay to the crank position for 2-3 seconds some times for the car to start. Tonight after filling up with gas at the gas station, the car would not start. It was making clicking noises and the interior lights were dimming. I got a jump and the car started right up. I did not note the battery charge levels, as I was just focused on getting home safely. In the car, the ABS, traction control and battery light were on. When I was a block away from home, the headlights were weakening and interior lights dimming. The car shut off while I was going 20mhp. Luckily, I was a block away from home and able to push it to the house. I'm pretty sure the alternator is bad. Any other thoughts? Right now, the car is not starting. I am assuming it will start with a jump. There is just the clicking sound coming when you try to start it Also, how difficult is a DIY for an alternator change? How can I tell if my alternator is weak or completely shot? I don't want to go out and buy another battery and have it die in a few weeks. Does anyone have a link to an alternator DIY?   10. yep. Took the seat out,changed the 15amp fuse, and the problem is gone! Thanks for the help everyone
  11. I have a 99 c2 manual. Ever since I have had the car, the keyfob did not work to activate/deactivate the alarm. I did not care much and just used the keys to do it manually. Last week, the entire locking mechanism of the car stopped working. Symptoms: -doors wont lock. Well the drivers side door will lock, but it won't lock the pass side. -interior dome lights/footwell lights do not work with the key in or out of the car. -hood/trunk latches are locked and I cannot open them. -switch inside the car to lock/unlock the car does not work -rear defroster does not work *car starts/drives fine. Windows work fine I have searched through tons of old threads to try and diagnose the problem. My guess is that its the alarm control module under the seat. Does anyone have any other suggesitons/ideas? Is this pricey to fix?
  12. any updates with the problem? Im having the same problem. except my hood and turnk are also locked. Interior dome lights are not working, and only driverside door is locking

  14. very interesting. Does anyone know someone on the East Coast who does this? or instructions for a DIY?
