  1. My passenger side air vent is missing the vertical rib that control all the little louvers that control the direction of air flow. Someone let me have their old one (some kind). I have taken my air vent out of the P-car. How do I separate the outer part from the inner. I have separated the 2 tabs that I can see but cannot find any others. It still in not coming apart. Any suggestions? - If a pic if needed, I can post. LMK. Thanks
  2. On a 99 C4 6 speed narrow body 996, will the following wheel size fit? Fronts : 18 X 8 with 50mm offsets. Rears : 18 X 11 with 63mm offsets. I do not want to roll the fenders.
  3. Will 11" wheels OEM Turbo twist fit on a 99 C4 narrow body car?
  4. I did the service myself. Kinda - took the oil and filter to Jiffy lube. Had them drain the oil and dispose of it. Put in the oil filter myself as well as the pollen filter while they were draining the oil. Paid $50 to Porshce mechanic to actually come out to my house and inspect the car. He brought his diagostic computer with him. Pays to be nice to these guys. Anyway, cost - about $175. With the money I saved, bought new tips. :jump:
  5. BTW - an update - I purchased the Porsche gear oil from Sunset Porsche in Oregon. Cheapest by far, same product as all others. Here's their link. http://www.sunsetimports.com/porscheparts.php
  6. Thanks Loren. Are these the only items I need in order to exchange the tips?
  7. I have a 99 C4 Cab 6 speed. Ordered fabspeed tips. Seems like I'll be needing the band clamps to install the new tips. Loren do you have a part number for both of these clamps? - I have the stock exhaust. Thanks
  8. I got the fabspeed sport tips for a 99 996 C4. Any directions on how to do this install and avoid any frustrations? Thanks
  9. How many bulbs do you need to replace. I am thinking of doing this mod myself.
  10. Did you take pictures of the process and/or document the process? - I know many would be interested in this record when the time comes.
  11. Thanks for your input Tool Pants. Do you know the proper way to shut the trunk?
  12. I have a 99 996 C4 6 speed. Need this coolant drain screw. Loren, could please post the part number? Thanks
  13. Loren - do you know the part number to the coolant screw. I put it down somewhere and now cannot find it. :censored: Seems like I'll have to purchase a new one.
  14. Ok. Let me start with this. Loren, would please tell me how you test your fluid. I will do that first. If it needs changing, I'll perform 1999Porsche911's method. :) 1999 - Thanks for your response. In case I need to change the fluid, please see the attached picture. Are the arrows pointing to the coolant drain screw? If so, what size hex key do you have inserted in the screw. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
  15. I only thought to do it because of postings either on this forum or other similar forums where people had stated the fluid should be exchanged about 2 to 3 years. Is that wrong?
  16. Hmm - you're right about pressing near the emblem to close the bonnet. Is there another proper way to shut the bonnet?
  17. Do you have a pic or a diagram of where these two are? Thanks for the procedure both of you. I think I will give 1999Porsche911 suggestion a try.
  18. I noticed my hood emblem was loose. Upon investigation I found out that one of the plastic pins was broken. The part where the flat part of the pin is bonded to the emblem has come detached. I have removed the emblem but the pin and the nut holding it in place remain. Any suggestions on how to remove the nut? - I need to hold the flat part of the pin from rotating while I unscrew the nut. Problem is I don not want to bend the flat part because once I remove it, I will simple super glue it back on to the emblem and reattach the emblem with the nuts. Can this be done or should I just order a new emblem and spare myself the hassle?
  19. Unplug the sensor (Item 3 is the sensor). Remove the two T20 security Torx screws (Item 4). Replace the sensor and tighten screws. Plug electrical connection back in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do you unplug the MAF? I thought it would just disconnect but it does not. I don't want to pry too hard. Am I missing something or should I just yank at it?
