  1. Just Google it then check prices and ensure your car is in a container. Outside that recommend drop off at port and then have them deliver to your door. Reason for this is that they have experience in what is required to clear the port. If you are coming over under a SOFA agreement you will need to get your tax exempt status paperwork filled out and sent to the importer to clear the port, if you are shipping without that then you will have to check what taxes and tags you need for your car. I shipped my car from NYC to Germany to my door with no real major problems. Lastly the obvious ensure you insure your car, I did mine through USAA but I am military. Good Luck
  2. I guess I take a different view, first I assume (I know that is dangerous) that it was insured during transport? If so I would have it replaced by Porsche were you will have a warranty and new windshield without any cracks. However if you did not insure I would go with the repair route over the find the lowest bidder and end up with potential rattles. I have never had a windshield replaced on a Porsche but Chevy did my old Corvette and it was perfect, I think Porsche mechanics are up to the level of Chevy mechanics, don't you. Either way you will be OK it is very small crack, best of luck!
  3. Not sure I understand why do you need to reprogam the updated MAF and what is the advantage if any ie is it worth replacing a good MAF for the updated MAF for performance? Thanks
  4. Lived in Germany for now the last 6 years and have seen mainly BMWs, Mercedes and Opels with the volume determined principally by what part you live in ie Bavaria BMWs and Audis, Hessen has Opels, etc... but have never had the privilege of seeing this car. Just curious where did you find them, I am in Stuggart in the Centrum about once a month and all I usually see is the several speed cameras and Mercedes Polizei cars. Nice picture but should they not be on the Autobahn, well I guess A6 is clogged as usual. Thanks Derek
  5. Loren is correct you need the PST2, wish I had one, to turn it on but once it is turned on here is a website that shows how to set it up, I have not done this yet but it is a future project when I get back: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/b...box_obd_mod.htm Hope the link works, note this is on a Boxster but I think they are the same. Derek
  6. I bought this product about a month ago (on ebay) and can say that as far as performance it did very little to nothing to help top end, 0-60 etc... To the ears it does sound better with the additional intake noise so I would say I do like this product but for what you get it is overpriced in my opinion. Would agree very quick and easy to install, 10-20 minutes is about right for most people.
  7. Thanks, was afraid it was the clutch, could I get it replaced sure! but I think I will wait since the car will go in the garage for storage while I am gone and do not want my wife to worry about it and if we must we can take the Volvo, just not as much fun but much better storage for the luggage. The strange thing is if I drive it and change above 4000 rpm there is 0 lag in the rpms but I am still learning as a Corvette guy who married a German and changed to Porsche.
  8. Hi hopefully this is not a dumb question however either way I will ask it. When I am driving on the Autobahn in say 4th or 5th gear at a speed that places the RPMs around 2000-3000 and then step on the gas (HARD) the RPMs rise by about 300-500 before it seems to catch and begin accelerating. Outside that from a stop and go, no problem. At high speeds and high RPMs, again no problems. Please advise, and if it is the clutch about how long do I have before it goes, looking at taking the car to Italy in about 4 weeks for a vacation with my wife before I head back to Iraq. Thanks Sorry, car is 2000 Porsche 996 CA4 CAB with 34000 miles
  9. The point of tax is valid in your consideration, if you are moving as part of the US Government be it military, GS etc... you can exempt yourself from taxes via the status of forces agreement but if you are moving private then add 15-17% for the tax. Also I have driven both left and right hand drive cars and would ask the simple question would you drive a right hander in the USA? If the answer is yes then go ahead and ship but realize as mentioned above that once you are off the major roads and get back into the small towns with their round abouts every 2 kilometers life becomes much more difficult, especially at night when hardly anyone is on the road. With that if you want to keep your car come to the mainland of Europe and hit the German Autobahn for some full speed driving, just realize the roads are crowded and Sunday AM when the trucks are clear is a good time to hit the roads. Good Luck
  10. Just returned from vacation in England (I currently live in Germany) and according to the magazine I read it said buy used Porsche 996 for the cost of a new BMW 330i. I would say kiss your car goodbye and purchase on this side of the pond.
