  1. Tough to argue whether they caused it or not. The guys you recommended said the same thing. Thanks for the recommendation by the way. I was on the phone with them for a while and they said the same thing. The car has been in Joe Rizza Porsche. They said it was an intermitent problem. I am picking up the car tomorrow. I will ask what the codes are. Thank you both for the help. I will keep you up to date. Thanassis
  2. Well Loren, to your question.... their comment was that this was an intermittent problem. I asked them to close the car up so I can pick it up...no more work on it. They have thew car since Monday and they say they cannot get to it untli Monday again....geez. They say they get improper gear ratio and temperature fault codes. Is the car ok to drive 20 miles -- basically to another dealer. Thanassis
  3. We are talking about the transmission right? Are the valves exposed when transmission pan is removed? They say they get improper gear ratio and temperature faults now. T
  4. Car is at the dealer...asked them to check why my tiptronic on the 2000 boxster is not upshifting properly and red lines when in manual. They said it was normal and no code faults were found. Since I had a leak in the pan, I asked the dealer to fix and service the transmission. Now, after they service, they say the are getting fault codes...improper ratio and temperature fault. Need some quick advice as my confidence on their service is shaken. I am about ready to tell them to close it up and I go pick the car up and take it somewhere else. Can you please provide some thoughts and quick advice? Thanks T
  5. PDF's of parts catalogs posted here.... http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLookup/Pa...p_Main_Page.htm T
  6. Will do and report back....thanks Tool Pants and all that replied.
  7. Yesterday I went for a ride and put my 2000 Boxster with tiptronic on manual. When I put the car in first gear, it shifted up from first to second fine at about 6,000 rpm's. After that the car would go past 7,000 rpm's and would not shift up. I tried this when in second gear and when in third gear. No upshift. I would appreciate any help / thoughts / ideas. T
  8. I know this has been addressed a few times but it has raised more questions for me than answers. I have a 2000 986 and would like to top off my colant reservoir. I have read the Pentosin, PEAK, TEXACO, etc. recommendations. Lauren....what product would you recommend? Thanassis
  9. Can someone post links to DIY's...I have been "hunting" the site and I have a hard time locating. * Replace front brake pads / sensors * Replace spark plugs (stock from Sunset Imports) * Replace polyrib belt (stock from Sunset Imports) * Replace fuel filter (stock from Sunset Imports) * Replace air filter, cabin filter * Clean radiators azzar0, happy 60th :)
  10. You could have someone photoshop different types of stripes on your own car. Just an idea. T
  11. Sometimes rough handling the handbrake up and down a few times does the trick. I had the same problem 2 years ago and never had a problem again. T
  12. My guess is that the gauge measures the gas in a non-linear way because of the shape of the gas tank. This is also the reason why the dial takes longer to drop from full tank to half than from half to empty. T
  13. I recommend you buy new sensors since you are going into the trouble to do this yourself. It could happen that an old sensor will short -- it happened to my front sensors on a 2000 Boxster. Thanassis
  14. This might also be a tracking device! LOL!!!
  15. Loren, Is there a way to know whether the 30,000 mile service was done on a 2000 Boxster? I was told it was done but I have no record. Thanassis
  16. I like the top....don't bother painting it.
  17. Hi RennTechers, I have a 2000 Boxster with tiptronic transmission. When in automatic mode, the gears shift at about 2,000 to 2,500 RPM's. Is there a way to make the car shift higher at about 3,000? I was told there is a computer on-board that "learns" as you drive and sets the RPM's over time. Is this for real and how can it be reset? Thanassis
  18. In my Boxster 2000 with Tiptronic, I have noticed sluggish reaction to pressing the acceleration pedal. The engine revs up first for a second or two and then it "engages" to move. This happens both in Manual and Auto mode. This behavior has shaken my confidence in crossing roads with heavy traffic and I usually wait for a clear road so I can cross. Is this normal behavior? Any ideas why is this happening? Thanassis P.S. This is a great forum and recently became a contributing member. I would urge everyone that is using this blog to contribute....I have learned so much in the last year and have been able to do some simple mods myself like the pin 18 hack.
  19. I live in the Chicagoland area and I am looking to repair some dings in my driver side door and also do a small repair to the front bumper. I would like to find someone that does paintless ding repair. Do you guys recommend anyone in the Chicagoland area for that type of work? Many thanks, Thanassis
  20. Sounds like a nice add....can you post a picture if you get a chance? T
  21. Will use for navigation, play a collection of music DVD's, and connect the video iPod possibly control via emulation on the large screen.
