  1. found the problem today!!!! :clapping: it was the ball that the Left side arm snaps into. it apparently worked it's way loose, and fell out. a quick trip to the auto parts store for am 8mm x 1.25 picth nut and some locktite, and it works like new However..... I noticed that since this happened, the top developed a leak!! I'm hoping these two are related! any input?
  2. when I lower my top, the left side seems to be exceptionally loose. it lags behind, and I have to help it along to keep it even! is this adjustable? Is it somthing I can do? or is this better left to a top shop. by the way it's a 98
  3. It was my last day on my old job.... and I was leaving to go to my farewell dinner. I jumped into my 98 2.5 and turned the key, and nothing!, zippo! All the lights work, and there seems to be plenty of juice in the battery, but it's as if the ignition switch is discomnnected. no clicks, no draw on the battery nothing. I took it to a local guy, who thinks it might be the alarm..... more specificly, the key. Is this possible????? If the key is bad, won't the car turn over but not start?
  4. It sounds almost like an alternator whine. it increases in pitch as the rpms go up.
  5. Last spring I noticed that my left side dash speakers were cutting our from time to time. As the season progressed it happened more and more, and each time lasted longer. One day it cut out completely. I swapped out the right and left side, and it seemed to be bad speakers. I purchased a pair, plugged them in, and all was right with the world. Last week, I was driving, and noticed a whirring sound coming from the left dash speakers.. I shifted the balance full left, and cranked the volume a bit, and it cleared up. since then the whirring comes back from time to time, and each time I clear it the same way. Think this is just coincidence? of might there be an underlying problem??? Any one??
  6. For what it's worth, I just went fron 17 to 18 inch on my 98 2.5 boxster, and noticed the car is definitly what I would call "Jittery" it reacts to every little input. I figure it is due to the shorter sidewalls. It sort of feels the way you are discribing it.
  7. I went to do an oil change yesterday, and low and behold, the oil drain plug is stripped out.  I mean the torx hed is stripped out. so I can't remove the plug. Fortunatly, I haven't yet drained the oil. Any idea how to get the plug out so I can replace it????? I'm sure I'm not the first to have this happen.
  8. actually now that you mention it, I did go to 18 inch wheels recently
  9. I recently noticed as I pulled into the local 7-11 that my 98 2.5 5 speed was making scraping noise on left turns as slow speeds. it doesn't seem to happen all the time, only occasionally. any ideas? I believe it's coming from the rear of the car. Also it seems more likely to happen after "spirited" driving. I was thinking maybe rear wheel bearing????
  10. I have a 98 2.5 with almost 80K my last 3 oil changes were with amsoil 10w-40 Is this a good thing? or should I go to a 0w-40???
  11. Just another option! I replaced mine with full red lights I purchased from Suncoast. I believe they were from the 550 special edition model.
  12. I just sent them an e-mail and am looking to become a US distributor. I'll let you know when I get a response.
  13. This is very interesting, as I just purchased a conversion kit myself, and was just waiting for warm weather to install them. I nevver stopped to think about the aiming and such...... I guess I better research this some more befor I install them. Anyone want a plug and play HID kit cheap!!!! LOL
  14. I too installed the B & M on my 98. It's much more notchy, but frankly I feel it's worth the trade off!!!!!
