  1. just a point... I was speaking to the Michelin tyre rep at a PCGB track day at the Silverstone GP circuit a couple of months back. Apparantly, they have modified the design of the Michelin Cup to make it much better in the wet; what are the build dates on your tyres ? David (had Pirelli's, now run Michelins )
  2. Ian - keep us informed on how you get on with this stuff - as another UK based 997S owner with the need for more power I'd like to know how you get on. David
  3. try here - this may help you out... http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=237188
  4. blimey - I've hit the rev limiter in 5th gear regularly - you guys can't be trying hard enough ! David
  5. you could always spin the wheels & paint by brush.... lol not really sure how my wheels were done - factory painted I'm afraid ! they are a base coat of red, then the black is applied on top, I do know that much from the stone chips as for paint - std is OK, it just needs to be baked David
  6. not a TT, but a 2S on the same tyres; I had mine adjusted to 26psi cold all round by a well known motorsport company on a trackday I did last weekend. Made a huge difference - the car was totally neutral. and no, don't drive on the street with these pressures ! you need a lot of heat in the tyres for this to work.
  7. Kurt - yes, the new one appears more flexible - but it isn't ! it's just all the clips that are holding the original in place. When I took mine off, I expected the paint to crack - but it didn't. Just got to get round to getting it re-finished now. good luck ! David
  8. just pull, you wont break them. when you've removed the plastic rivets (one each side) then the flexible lip just pulls out. I started at each side, & worked intowards the middle. It's very flexible plastic, & won't break. David pic with new black lip
  9. I had a wave from a cayenne in the village that I live - made my day ! And she was rather pretty too !!!
  10. agree with the comment on the ride height ! I haev the aerokit on mine, and I'm already on my second front spoiler lip It catches on the most innocuous looking things !
  11. Hi Kurt - I see now ! best way I've found to jack the car is to raise the car with a jack at the rear side lift point; the chassis is so stiff the front will come up too & you can then get a stand fitted to the front side lift point. Repeat on the other side & the front of the car is in the air. David
  12. you need stands ?! I replaced mine last week - there is ony one plastic rivet per side, near the wheel arch that pulls out vertically downwards; the lip then just pulls off, pulling outwards all along. Start at each side & work in to the centre. took me about 10 mins to R&R. I now have the black GT3 lip on a red aerokit David
  13. are you just trying to permanently enable the PSE in sport mode ? If so, you can just unplug it in the engine bay 10 sec job max David
  14. hmmm . my UK MPG sits at around 22 for mixed driving, and 26 on motorways. Track use - 9mpg ! David C2S
  15. apparantly it's due to compliance needed with Swiss drive by noise requirements - obviously a world std for setting - mine does it too. I also disconnected the lead....
  16. agree -I have the sport seats in my 997, and had teh sport seats in the 996. The 997 seats are way more comfortable than the 996 sport seats, which are still good ! David
  17. Thanks Loren - I already have the aerokit; I want to replace the lower lip spoiler with the GT3 part, rather than the aerokit, as the painted finish scratches too easily on our poor quality British roads ! David
  18. I have an aerokitted 997S, but the body coloured chin under the front PU is getting very scratched. Anyone know the part no. for the GT3 black part, which I understand is flexible ? I'm assuming that it will be a direct bolt on replacement, so will need replacement clips etc. Thanks David
  19. No, it was on a C2. Fairly straightforward, but well worth it ! David
  20. can't give you spring rates, but I can say this. I have an X74 C2 (2002); driven back to back with a GT3, there is no difference in ride comfort (i.e. they are both hard !) If anything, I would say the X74 is slightly harder in the rear. I couldn't tell any difference in cornering flatness either, but it is purely subjective when sat in the driving seat. David
  21. Izzy - how's the car ride after the spring change ? Did you change any other suspension components ? I'd be interested to know ! David
  22. Did you use spring compressors on the copil springs ? I did on my install, and found that I didn't have to to contort the control arm at all for removal. Should have mentioned - kit went in fine, took about 8 hrs start to finish. Had an alignment carried out, the car handling is in a different league now ! David
  23. Just a concluding update - car all back & fixed It needed a new torque convertor Talking to the guys at the workshop, it seems that when the car went back in Feb to have a new torque convertor, the transmission rebuild company actually re-built the original torque convertor... Probably explains why it only lasted 4 months ! All smoth shifting now (fingers crossed!) David
