  1. Congratulations on the purchase. That oil pressure range is normal. Oil pressure will also be higher when the engine is cold. GL
  2. It’s is a **** shame but, it is only a clutch. It could be worst. Asking the dealer to inspect/grade the product they are selling is like asking a high school student to grade his own test. Did you not take the car for a test drive yourself? GL
  3. Ross, I have the same problem with my 99 996. Mine is only at the corner and it’s been that way for some time. Please post the result of the fix. GL Lee
  4. Loren, I have a Duramtric reader. What should the readings be for TRA and FRA? Thanks for the quick response. Lee
  5. The easiest way but non-reversible would be to cut it off with a Dremel. I would just leave it; you never know when you’re going to need a spare. GL
  6. The CEL on my 1999 996 C2 came on on the way back from the Porsche Parade in Charlotte. I received codes 115/P0102 mass airflow sensor Type 3; short to ground/below lower limit/lean mixture threshold and 108/P1602 voltage supply Type 2; open circuit/no signal. I have a K & N CAI but I replace it with the stock unit this past Sunday. The CEL came on again just yesterday and I get the same codes. Prior to the trip I received error code P1123 and P1125 but they haven’t returned since going back to the stock filter setup. I think it may be the MAF sensor. My questions are 1. Do MAF sensors go bad or deteriorate over time? I have the original sensor. 2. Are MAF sensors easily damaged? 3. Is there a test or an inspection procedure to tell if one is damaged? 4. Could a bad MAF sensor cause the error code P1602? :renntech:
  7. Do Optima batteries last longer than standard batteries? At $150 the cost is almost twice as much as a standard battery. If it does last twice as long I don’t see the reason to get the Optima. They are pretty and trendy and it’s lighter but that really should matter to anyone except maybe the dedicated track junkie. Additional to use the Optima I would have to buy or fabricate an anchoring system. IMHO
  8. FYI: the standard Porsche warranty on parts, engine included, is two year unlimited miles. I have about 6 month left on my new engine.
  9. Lee, the part numbers for my 99 were 996.542.076.04 and 996.542.075.04 on the invoices from Sunset. Thanks, and have a great weekend. Lee
  10. Sure you can just make sure the diameter stays close to that of the approved tire sizes. If you track the car you may want to look into the effect of changing the width of the rears in relation to the width of the front tires. There is a lot of information on this site and you can also search the forums on rennlist.com. BTW I like the wheels. Good luck.
  11. Thanks for the information. I’m sure I can change it out without too much problems. I’m curious as to what goes bad on the regulator. Any thoughts? Thanks Lee
  12. The driver side window has just recently started squeaking when opening and closing and it’s been getting worst. I tried cleaning both the window and the seal to no avail. The window seems to work just as before but the noise is getting worst. I did a search and one poster said he had the same problem and ended up needing to replace the regulator. Is there a way of testing the regulator? Is there a DYI on replacing the regulator? Thanks in advance for the help. Lee :renntech:
  13. Welcome aboard. That should be covered in the owner’s manual, but here is a link to a parts catalog. You will need to setup an account. https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinfo/VFMod...et&login=ok
  14. You can replace the Cats with bypass pipes but in some state your car wouldn’t be street legal.
  15. This is another issue that has different schools of thoughts. Check post #23 in the following link. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...hlight=break-in
  16. That’s a loaded question. Do a search of engine failure on this site and the 996 forum on Rennlist.com and you’ll find out why.
  17. It’s more than likely due to worn bushings; a common problem. Check this link. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...hl=horn+bushing
  18. I have a 99 C2 and I found it strange that there is no warning light if the hood isn’t closed all the way. On at least two separate occasions the tire store didn’t close the hood all the way and I didn’t notice it until I set the alarm and the horn beeped. I looked in my OM but I didn’t see anything about a warning system for the hoods or doors for that matter. One would think this would be standard for safety reason. Good luck.
  19. There should be two rubber grouments part # 999 702 246 40. GL to you and AXEL. :D
  20. No it shouldn’t affect the rest of the warranty. The way I understand it legally if a mod doesn’t contribute to a failure the warranty claim can’t be denied.
  21. Porsche dealer quoted me $1,200 without an alignment. I installed them myself in about 12 hours. The springs and shocks came out without any special tools.
  22. No issues with spacers, they are quite common but, 20 inch tires on a 99 maybe. IMO there are no benefits but it’s been suggested by some that the 99 wasn’t designed for 20’s and it may cause problems with the suspension. GL
