  1. Their experience is with 'Wheel Dynamics'. Is Wheel Enhancement their new name or did you just confuse the two companies?
  2. Will definitely check out Wheel Enhancement.. Those Carrera 5-spoke wheels do look nice! If anyone is selling any wheels, send me a PM! Still looking for recommendations.
  3. Looking to get some 18" wheels for my 986. Any recommendations? I kind of like the 997 turbo wheels, but would probably need spacers. Here are pictures of my 986
  4. Came across these, but not sure I like them too much. http://www.amazon.com/Daytime-Running-Driving-Universal-Vehicles/dp/B004DGS1WQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291233389&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/HIGH-POWER-DAYTIME-RUNNING-LIGHT/dp/B004DHLAGE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291236257&sr=8-2 They should be less than 8 inches long and less than or equal to 1.5 inches tall. Any recommendations? These will go on a Fiberwerks bumper like the one pictured below:
  5. Yes, that is the immobilizer under the drivers seat. You can't drive it until its programmed. You can get a new immobilizer from Porsche for $340. I tried saving money by buying a used immobilizer only to have the Porsche tell me that used ones can't be programmed. It will cost about $120 for the programming.
  6. I had a similar problem. Had to buy immobilizer from Porsche for ~$340 plus $129 for an hour (programming) Let us know how it all turns out
  7. Interested in knowing who's used it and how it turned out.
  8. Where can I get this rear end? Spoiler, bumper, and tail lights?
  9. I guessed my radio code to be 9860 and it worked. 986 being the model porsche and 0
  10. Vigor: It's still not clear from your answer whether the shop will remove the entire top and frame assembly and then sew the new window in without stripping the canvas from the frame. If they are not stripping the canvas from the frame, as long as they do a good job of sewing the new window in, they really can't mess up the re-installation of the top and frame assembly back onto your Boxster. Also, there are a number of factors to consider depending on what model year your 986 is. Regards, Maurice. I am not sure. Will call and ask... BTW, it is a 99 model Vigor: It's still not clear from your answer whether the shop will remove the entire top and frame assembly and then sew the new window in without stripping the canvas from the frame. Ask them how they will protect your drain trays -- this is where they could mess things up and you would not know until you had problems unless you knew where to look. If when I pull another top -- I will try to figure out a mechanism to put a plastic insert or something in there to keep the foam drain trays from being perforated. mike Mike Do you know where I can find a diagram of the drain tray locations? Had an immobilizer burn because of water getting under the seat and it would suck if it happened again. Thanks!
  11. Vigor: If the upholstery shop is willing (or able) to do it without stripping the top off the frame, the price is not outrageous. They need a long-throated sewing machine to do it that way (a Juki machine) and removing and reinstalling the complete top and frame assembly is relatively easy. If you are talking about ebay tops that are just the canvas (i.e., without the frame), you will still have to strip and re-install the top onto your frame. It's not an easy DIY, but it's doable with some good instructions available. Regards, Maurice. Maurice, Thanks for the quick response... The shop states that they have to remove the top, then sow, and reinstall. Not sure how great of a job they'll do, which is why I'm considering getting brand new. I am also looking at used tops from wrecked vehicles.
  12. My convertible top window came off recently. Any easy fix? Took it to an upholstery shop and they quoted me $350 to sow it back on. Some tops on ebay go for around $500 so I am considering my options. Any ideas?
  13. So I took the car to a porsche shop today where the could actually program the immobilizer. The one I purchased online was from another porsche which could not be programmed. Had to buy a brand new one for $391 + the $109 programming fee. They still could not turn the car on. No fault codes were showing up as well. They stated that its the starter relay and starter. Decided to take it with me and try to mess with it on my own. When I got back I tried to push start it, but it still won't turn on. Now I'm thinking it's not the starter, but that the immobilizer is still not programmed correctly. One thing they did do was make the remote function with the new immobilizer, which was not working before. So what do you guys think? Could they have not programmed the unit correctly or what? Feel a bit disappointed. Note: this is for a 99 boxster that had a burnt immobilizer due to water damage.
