  1. I'm over here as well. Deploying for a few months, but will continue to check for these.
  2. The TRG units and the Tarret units are the choice of most of the track guys I talk to. My stock versions are about to be replaced as they are failing as well. Likely accelerated D2 larger than stock sway bars.
  3. Lots of companies out there for flashes. If I were to flash mine I would go with Kevin at UMW or Markski at 911 Tuning (Protomotive tune). My car came with a GIAC tune through Champion Motorsports. They updated it for me at no charge and I am pretty happy with it. I'm very happy with their customer service! Kevin at UMW is a fountain of knowledge and will go through a litany of options for you to choose from. Just have some time to talk with him ... Like I said, lots of knowledge.
  4. The 997 shift mechanism fits right in, and shortens the throws nicely... My turbo S actually came with it from the factory. Thank you to the PO.
  5. The LED taillight discussion has occurred ad nauseum on 6-Speed. Long story short, not likely to happen D2 the limited market. Not enough 996 widebody cars to make the production profitable. Which Navigation disc do you have? You need the CD based Nav for your car. The latest part number is 000.044.901.21 with a price tag around $300. I have the same system and the DVD only works in the 997s. There is a place in New York that adds an I-Pod connection, but don't know any other way to get one. Just search Becker radio repair.
  6. Impressive! Sounds like you guys came up with a nice package.
  7. The two work as a system. Changing the actuation of the wastegate without changing the programming could be inviting disaster. Think of lean running conditions brought on by having the boost come up faster than the fuel programmed for the given condition.
  8. I talked with Kevin at UMW about the boost levels the stock fueling system can handle and he uses 1.285 bar as the threshold. My car was boosting over 1.3 bar and I can tell you it was dumping boost and pulling timing to try to keep from knocking with its tune. I haven't changed to Kevin's tune yet for a number of reasons, but I will prior to taking the car to the track.
  9. Concur with what was said above... Proper maintenance and treatment would mean a lot more to me than mileage.
  10. Simple. Just use something to carefully push the center pin through all the way. Pull out the rivet and you're done...
  11. The air duct is very easy to remove, and eases access. All you do is pull to the side and it pops right out.
  12. I just did this and had to remove the glove box to get to the air guide and the screws. Joel
  13. Which Falkens are you running? I was looking at getting the FK452s in 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 to run on my 2005 TTS.
  14. Okay, so I dug back into the fender again today to see if I could kill this one off once and for all. Nope! The P0455 code was present, but the CEL hadn't triggered yet. The car creates negative pressure when it's running. (0.4 hPa atmospheric to -1.8 to -2.4 while running. It's cyclical.) The carbon canister loads up after running for a few seconds then the load reduces. The main cap on the top of the tank is tight. There is no residual dye anywhere to be seen from the smoke used when pressure testing the tank the first time. I used a black light as the dye shows up under the black light. The pressure normalizes to atmospheric according to the Durametric shortly after the car is shut off. Telling me there really is a leak somewhere. Any way to know if the Tank Leakage Diagnostic Module is leaking? Which hoses should hold a vacuum if I use a vacuum tester? Loren, thanks for your help so far. Can you offer any further insights? Thanks, Joel
  15. Very nice! I rode in a very similar car around Sebring, and it's an outstanding ride. You don't have to join a car club to do track events, but it helps to get involved with one to find out where events are going on. Joel
  16. It's a good thought, but it didn't leak any smoke when I put smoke into the gas tank. I figure if there were a leak it would have manifested itself with the smoke. Regardless, I'll take another look. It doesn't take long to remove the fittings and the ring. Thanks, Joel
  17. Thanks, Loren. I'll pull the fender liner again, and see if I can pull a vacuum on one of those. v/r Joel
  18. Okay, I've searched, have seen the diagnosis for the P0455 code, and am running out of airspeed and ideas. The car is a 2005 996TTS with 33k+ miles. I've replaced the gas cap, had a smoke test performed with no obviously leaks (none that we could see...), and tested the charcoal canister EVAP valve function with the Durametric. I can hear and watch the carbon canister valve actuate, but not the tank control valve. Is there a way to test that valve? I pulled the fender liner and have two replacement valves that didn't seem to change the function. The CE typically comes back not long after the tank is refilled, and after resetting the code it won't return until refilling the tank again. Strangely, it won't return for every tank. As far as I know the gas cap is on tight. I've taken some data logs on the Durametric and would like to know what the readings should be for the tank pressure difference and the carbon canister load. I'm confounded. I hate to have to drop the tank to see what's on top, but is that where I'm at? Ughhh. Joel
