  1. Saw adv for this tool on Ebay- sounds like it might be useful but isn't fully developed yet. Will updates be reasonable for early purchasers as functions are added? What about control unit or key programming?

Question- what is latest (last) software update # for pst2 before PIWIS intro? Somebody trying to sell me version 24- is this it? Will 24 handle CGT or 997 systems? Who knows this stuff? Is this the right forum?

    thanks from renntech rookie

THe last USA update or version for the PST2 is version 24 for the PST2 and yes it will work on the Carrera GT but it won't work on a 997.

Email me for a little more information if you are interested.

  2. I just finished removing the dashboard off my Boxster, I throught it could be a very hard task. I am not a expert on fixing/reparing car, I just interested in making my car looks better. Last month I decided to upgrade my car interior component to Arctic Silver color, so I start removing all the interior component that came in factor black color off the car and send them to paint shop. But when I try to remove the airbag strips, I damage some sport on the dash, which require me to hire someone to fix the dash leather for me. If I know that removing the dash is not that difficult, I could remove the entire dash out and then remove the airbag strips screw at the back instead of pulling them out by force.

If anyone want to remove their dashboard that require any information, please feel free to reply to me.

I find that even with the Porsche workshop mannual is not explaning the process in too detail, some steps are missing on mannual and I can provid you the missing puzzle.

    Cheer

I have done some work on my 964 and I agree that the workshop manuals are not complete. However I have found that by using the dealer PET which has exploded views of every system, shows every part where it goes, how it comes apart and details every model, every year, and every version ( as opposed to the PDF version that deletes alot) it is easy.

If you want the dealer PET email me..

  3. The problem is created by Porsche. They put a price of about $2,000.00 for the 986 workshop manuals with wiring diagrams. It is the same price if you spend about 20 minutes to download them from the Porsche tech website. And they refuse to make the dealer version PET available so we can not get complete parts information on our cars. We still have to buy the parts from Porsche, and if we keep our cars running well it looks better for Porsche.

BTW my 986 manuals have all the updates thru 12/2004 unlike those others that have poor outdated versions. I don't copy protect them, put website watermarks across everypage and I keep adding new and updated information to them. I also have the complete OBDII manuals for the 986 and the Diagnostic manuals.

  4. I recently bought a 1975 911s targa.  This is my first one and advice on what I should do to check it out would be helpful.  It runs and I drive it weekly.  I has been having hard cold starts.  I have changed oil and air filter.  Any suggestions after that.  It does leak a little oil and clutch is real stiff.  Help me relaim this beauty.

I have the complete collection of Porsche workshop manuals on CD from the 356 up to the 997, 987 and Carrera GT. Ofcourse that includes the 72-83 911 manuals, about 200 TSBs for the same model, and more..

  5. I have the "Basic" 987 workshop manuals and I can tell you that the PDF manuals posted so far on the Porsche tech site are incomplete. If you download them you do not get updates so you will have to repurchase them. I can help you get service information on the 987 including complete part numbers, exploded views, and the "Basic " workshop manual...

  6. I have seen the manuals from VIP and they are incomplete and they do not have the current information or updates past 2000. If you want the current 996 manuals, including the OBDII manual, TSBs, Diagnostic manuals and more email me. I also have the current dealer PET update 194.

And I am the one that supplied the 964 manuals to Don...

  7. Where did you get the newer style? Do you have a part number?

I have a 1990 C4 and just performed one of the best upgrades (non-performance) yet.

I upgraded the wiper arms to the newer style (two hold down springs instead of one).  The blades are now firmly pressed against the windshield.  Highly recommended!

  8. I have the Porsche 996TT manuals in electronic form. They are clear, clean and completely readable and useable. I also have the OBDII manual, TSBs, and Technical diagnostic manuals. Email me for more information.

I have also seen the CDs from workshopUK and they are very poor quality, barely readable, not kept up to date, with his website marked on each page. I don't think they are even worth the time to download...
