  1. very nice mate, very nice indeed !
  2. cheers bud. I've ordered it (one with the louvres at the top) so will soon see thanks for the reply matey Perry
  3. installed the B&M today and is was easy it has to be said, took about 30 mins. but in my case the central console was already out, thats the time consuming bit. the porsche short shifter is even easier as it already comes installed in a replacement plastic frame rather than having to strip your existing one down to apply the B&M bits and bobs
  4. in the end as I also had the upper dash trim pieces out for spraying I removed the plastic cage (4 screws) that holds the climate control and CD storage trays, the center console then just slipped straight in thanks for your input guys
  5. Hi Eric yes it was just painted in my garage but has had plastic primer, 3 coats of colour (speed yellow) and seven lacquers. its been flatted down, cut back with G3 and then polished back up to lustre. Then meguires 3 pack polish treatment so it actually looks better than the outside ;-) Have read the B+M shifter install guide but it doesnt offer any guidance on refitting other than 'twist it in' was hoping there might be another easier way that members have found? Thanks for your reply tho bud, its a 2000 Bocster 'S' by the way :-)
  6. Have just spent the last couple of days spray painting the center console and a few other bits and I'm struggling to get it back in with scratching the lovely new paintwork :( Are there any tricks you can do to get it back in? I'm assuming a fair few owners with silver/painted consoles have fitted short shifters (arriving tomorrow :D ) so there must be a few tales of woe and consequent remedies? I managed to twist it out, but not keen on treating it so roughly now its freshly painted. I've searched but to no avail on this occasion so apologies if the problem has been covered before? I did read on a post something about undoing the hand/park brake cable so the handle can stick straight up in the air? wouldn't have a clue on where to start to do this tho? any assistance much appreciated as would like to get the car bag on the orad tomorrow really as obviously its the weekend and need to hit those roads :D many thanks Perry
  7. does anyone on here have the GT2 front bumper with 18" rims and standard suspension? trying to find out what the ground clearance is at the front? many thanks
  8. Thats great Loren thanks I'll leave her running for a while with the defrosters on full blast to make them more flexible thanks again Perry
  9. just to confirm as I am attempting to remove these defroster trims (left and right) at the moment. I can just lever them up and out and nothing will break? seems very tightly in place???
  10. doesnt that kit have widened arches (new wings and rear quarters) ? if so the front amy not match up with stock wings? love the spoiler on the back :-)
  11. Thanks Loren but unless i'm missing something (quite possible) after a rather lengthy down load (dial up) it seemed to be great guide for removing your steering wheel but not the questions in the thread ref air bag lights etc with an after market? sorry if I've missed some thing here? many thanks Perry
  12. any cahance of some info on this please? as I'm looking to do a similar thing thanks
  13. Thats great, many thanks for your reply since asking the question I've been doing some surfing and at the moment I'm considering a turbo style front produced by 'design911' specifically for the boxster, GTR side skirts (ones with the vents) and a gemballa rear lip I've just asked them if the new speedart wing for the 987 will fit the 986 and am awaiting a reply, if not then I'll have to re-think the wing/spoiler. its a shame the back end of the boxster is so different from all the other models as the wing/spoiler options are rather limited in comparrison. I have a spare rear lid so I could mould a spoiler on of some sort (not too bad working with f/glass) but as said options are limited, with the angles of '911' wings being so different there wouldnt be much left once cut back to suit the 986 rear end. unfortunately living in the UK 'top up' driving is a regular occurance, so the colour is quite a significant factor unfortunately.
  14. looking to do some body mods to my 2000 Boxster S and wondered if I could use some 996 parts? Do the side skirts from a pre-facelift 996 shape car fit a pre-facelift boxster? also are the front ends interchangable? I'm assuming the rear bumper/cover isnt due to the different shapes? Seems like the aerokit type options for the boxster are limited and wondered if I could look at 996 or any other model parts as well? (aftermarket rather than oem) Also rather like the speedart wing for the 987 but don't know if the rear end and automatic wing are the same? as it appears that the new speedart wing replaces the auto wing so all needs to match up on the 986 as well? any guidance from those in the know would be great before I pace any orders for gear. Was also looking at a yellow replacement glass widow soft top as the car is speed yellow. does any one have any experience of light coloured soft tops at all? think it might look cool as I don't have a hard top but don't want to spend out a load of cash only to find it looks off colour after a while? sorry for all the questions but looking to spend quite a bot of money (for me at least) and don't want to make any cock ups when theres such a wealth of knowledge on here :notworthy: thanks guys/gals
  15. looks very nice mate! I was looking at a similar conversaion with a UK supplier/fitter. one of the the options was a yellow top and as my car is speed yellow I ws considering getting this done. havnt had any experience of light coloured sof tops tho so dont know how paractical it would be in all honesty?
  16. sqeeze it both sides at the end nearest the interior away from the screen and pull it up ;-)
  17. cheers bud, found the speed pulse in the HU harness and alls working fine now :-) apart from the dash speakers being crap, going to try bypassing the amp before I replace them
  18. Well I removed the cluster from the car and checked the bulb, all seemed fine? So to double check if the bulb was ok I swapped it over with the bulb behind the digital speedo screen, and voila! alls well on all three screens now. must have been a loose bulb/connection, so now I have TV/CD/Tuner/DVD and sat nav up and running without the hassle of a faulty odometer. Thats not saying I can see the screen with the top down of course! :D Thanks again for your help guys, very much appreciated!
  19. cheers guys! I'll check the cluster out later today and keep you updated on my findings thank you very much for coming back to me on this Perry
  20. I did read about bulbs going , but you cant see any numbers at all in that section unfortunately. I assume that if its just the bulb that you could still see the numbers? or is that not true?
  21. Have been wiring in my double din unit and sat nav and now the odometer isnt working (total miles or recent reset) There is no display whatsoever now? The rest of the cluster is all working fine. I needed an antenna plug adaptor, so i'm presently running with no head unit in the car. And have also disconnected the sat nav incase there was a problem there with the speed pulse wire? (cant see why speed pulse would affect odometer tho) Are there any wires in or around the HU harness that I could have damaged in the process or fuses I may have blown to stop the odometer display working? The sat nav unit was under the drivers seat quite tightly, but couldnt see any wires there that may have been pinched? (UK car so no big box under the drivers side) no warning lights visible and have pressed most switched in the cabin and everything else seems to be working ok? any assistance from people in the know such as toolpants :notworthy: would be very much appreciated obviously thanks Perry
  22. I'd be interested in those as well if Jinster doesnt take you up on them Perry (UK)
