  1. I was able to get the Chrono working in my car by replacing the malfunctioning PCM2.1 and a cluster reset.
  2. Fixed it by resetting the cluster, it has an acoustic speed chime over 75 mph.
  3. Hi Loren, It's seatbelt and whatever else(headlights?) has the same sounds, speed goes off and flashes the warning on the multi function display. Jay
  4. Just replaced my PCM2.1 with an Alpine iLX-207 HU and the HUR NAV-TV210, 2008 997TT with the Bose Amp. Now I have my seat-belt chime coming on at 76MPH and off at 71 MPH WTH!!! Anyone have any thoughts I have a Durametric Pro and went into the instrument cluster and turned all the chimes off. Another interesting thing the car is equipped with the Sports Chrono it hasn't worked since i purchased the car in August 2018 not it does work. It's not the speed limit warning in the MFD.
  5. digging up and old post but: Have a issue with a new to me 997 car equipped with the Sports Chrono package however its not available in the Multi-Function Display same with the radio and Nav text, that should be there when cycling with the MFD stalk. I also don't see the Cruise control indicator on the dash. The high beams only work when pulled to flash not the forward position for constant on. I went into coding using the Durametric and enabled all the options I have however not working. I suspect its reverted back to handover /delivery mode as the Carfax has 3 key reprograms in the history. Anyone have thoughts will end up at the dealer however after reading this i have my doubts forking over $200 an hour.
  6. Matt thanks for doing this I purchased a 997.1 and it seems to have been reset to default somehow.in the process of upgrading to the Pro cable 1)Windows and cabriolet top don't function when using the key in the door handle or FOB. 2)The Sports Chrono cant seem to get the "Chrono" to appear on the MFD menu 3) I think the audio and telephone information should also be in the MFD. Can someone confirm these can be enabled with coding.
  7. Thanks Silver Guys wants the money wired and then ship the car, for sure a scammer photos were stolen off eBay.
  8. So I think I found a deal to good to be true however need someone local to verify the car exists before flying from California to purchase it. Anyone in the South Carolina area can drive by this dealer and report back if this is a legit dealership. http://eastoverautosales.com/?gtcd=911 Please PM or reply back if possible. TIA A search of the VIN states it sold last year https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-marketplace/977808-2010-997-2-turbo.html However this is a slightly different car.
  9. Old thread but been looking for Durametric codes, when I found this discussion about the Durametric/Siemens ECU. I have a 2011 958 TT I will keep searching and email their support. Got a check engine light on the way home Friday I was able to read it before shutting the engine off. Another one that comes up often is chassis system failure. If I try to raise to the highest setting.or once in a while on the road. 10. Looking for some help on this topic at 160k on the odometer and figured the lifetime fluid is done. I was only able to get about 1/2 gallon of old coolant from the radiator. I could not find a drain plug on the bottom as described in the 955/957 instructions. The lower radiator hose was very difficult to remove and disconnected it at just below the intake and pumped out the old coolant. This is not 4 to 5 gallons and described in the 955/957 DIY. I have done Airlift pressure bleed/fill on my 996 and seen the write up for the 955/957 or refilling won’t be an issue Need some help understand how this cooling system works.
  11. Anyone that changed their Transmission fluid after 80-90K, have any issue with slippage? I was told by (2) Indy's don't touch it until 160K. The dealer has the same response. whats the difference if you do it at 90 or 160K. I guess its cleaver marketing by the dealer to sell cars? Why would the Indy's refuse the work? Not sure with synthetic fluid if it has different properties than older conventional transmissions and fluids. Perhaps just a old wife's tale passed down and not a factor with a modern transmission.
  12. Thanks for the additional information, Its a bit disappointing the Durametric doesn't have this feature,Anyone have any pic's of what the fluid looked like when changed early? I have 33K on my 2nd transmission. 160k on the ODO, I was thinking of just changing the fluid and and leaving the filter until 60K. However not sure if the fill tube is removable VIA drain plug. Any thoughts on just replacing the fluid? On my 996 after the filter change, I drained the tranny again after 1000 miles to get the remaining fluid that was in the ATF lines, cooler and torque converter. No surprise it was dark, however not as bad is the initial drain.
  13. So I'm about to service my transmission at the next oil change, will get the filters and fluids from the dealer (Sunset or Gaudin) the fill fitting is a Part # VAS6262-2 fill plug adapter. Its a VW tool plenty of them on Amazon. I have a fill pump with a shut off I made for my 996. There are plenty of write ups for the 996 on how to fill the Tiptronic. The only thing different on the 958 is the fill tube (above the drain plug) that regulates the proper fluid level. As Loren suggested get a 3rd party (good accuracy) digital thermometer one with a remote probe. After the initial fill start up run through the gears, get to the correct temperature then add fluid or close the plug, (if the new discharged fluid has slowed to a drip). Seem like a bit of a challenge as the fill tube will be just enough space to get the probe in. I plan to have an IR gun as a backup and measure the temp of the pan and the fluid with the probe as it discharges. Guys please correct me if any of this looks wrong.
  14. I'm looking to change the transmission fluid on my 2011 CTT, you don't need the special service tools listed below to fill it up? Part # VAS6262-2 ( screw in adapter )Part # VAS6262A ( tool for filling up transmission )
  15. Could you share the type of fluid used on the transmission oil change?

  16. Hi Loren, Thanks for the tip, I just had the clam shell off when I replaced the Cabriolet cable assembly. The connections are solid on both ends. The problem is very predictable the last inch of travel when closing the light goes out. The pop up spoiler light works all the time,do you a schematic on the circuit? there must be some interlock between the two lights. Jay
  17. Loren, Thanks for the information, any tips on where to start looking? I have checked at the light itself and the the connector to the Clamshell assembly under the sound or heat insulation. the issue seems too predictable to be corrosion unless there is a contact block with exposed contacts.(like a slider contact on a minivan side door). It seems to be related to the clamshell, as I mentioned raise the clam shell an inch light works. Jay
  18. I have an issue with the 3rd brake light working intermittently,on a 99 C2 cab. The pop up spoiler light works all the time when raised. However the light on the Clam shell doesn't wont work consistently, and seems to affect the cruise control as well. Is there a micro switch on the pop up spoiler that is bad and affecting the light on the clam shell? If I open the Clam shell an inch by activating the top the light comes on,close it it goes out. I have searched around but no results.
  19. Does anyone have "PIWIS" or the PST2 I need to have my 996 Cabro top re-calibrated. located in So Cal. didn't win the lottery yet. :thankyou:
  20. Update! Got the clam shell open.... back seats removed, pop up roll bar removed, clamshell electric motor removed inserted a 1/4" extension into the clam shell transmission then cranked it open. I will add some fluid, it closed but needed a bit of help at the end of the travel. now I have to figure out if the motor is bad or the micro switches are bad.
  21. I'm at a loss here. I'm stuck in the closed lid position. I tried the emergency close mode listed in the owners manual, Turned the crew at least 90+ times counter clockwise with no results. Did the cables snap? if they did I should be able to pull the clamshell open by hand. There must me a latch that's stuck or broken in the close position. while cranking the screw it seemed to lose tension after turn 10, now it seems to be just spinning. Electric motor runs for a ±10 seconds then times out. any tips would be great I haven't seen this problem posted. Can you tell me where the (3) latches are located? BTW:looking through the open flaps with a flashlight the rams seem dry, not indicating a leak.

  24. Is it possible to overfill the ZF transmission? I left it in drive and filled it until the fluid escaped through the plug Then closed it. I used Izzys DIY, I also didn't get over 35C. In park the fluid was always dripping so i moved it back into drive.I also did the coolant changed with the Uview tool and had the purge clip up or open on the tank. So not sure if that would affect the temperature as it would not warm up past 35C.
