  1. Thanks JFP, thats similar to the bentley 986 manual I have, 2005 edition printed in 2010. It basically talks about how to do things on the outside of the engine but they don't seem to want you to dig deeper. The most in deepth would be removing the cylinder head cover. Any suggestion where I can get more info (book) on disassembling/rebuilding a 2004 986S.
  2. How much coverage is there on engine work - engine disassembly/assembly, head removal, camshaft change, crank case etc..
  3. I have a 2004 Boxster S, how can I tell if I have traction control?
  4. Thanks mcmike27 and when you say WARM I'll assume you mean above 180 water temp.
  5. This is all good info for the new Boxster owner But whats everyone doing for shifting Rev's? I just bought my 04 Boxster S in Dec 2010 and am enjoying it and yes it does seem to smile back when you let her go. Its an everyday car for me highway and city, but she's definitley more at home at highway speeds. She seems to shift alot smoother above 4000 rev's but I've never taken her past 6000rev's for a shift (I think she's grinning at this stage). 85% of the time I'm shifting before 5500 rev's. I'v been flying by the seat of my pants, at what rev's should I or should not, be shifting gears? What about around town should I be pushing the rev's in 1st, 2nd and 3rd?
  6. No, no other weird electrical anomalies. Do you know a part number or another name for the clutch switch, I can't find it on Pelican.
  7. Hi, I'm new to this. I recently purchased a 2004 Boxster S and I think I'm starting to notice an intermittent starting problem. It just doesn't start at times. When this occurs the dash lights up but then there is nothing else, no click no whir nothing. Its almost like I haven't followed a proper starting procedure or the electric signal is not getting through to the starter. When it does turn over (the signal gets through)there is no hesitation she fires into action and she runs beautifully. The battery is new. Is this a "clutch starter switch problem"? or is there a starting procedure besides - insert key and turn?
  8. Just bought a 2004 Boxster S last week in Houston and brought it too Koby Motors (8623 Windswept Houston, TX 77063)to get a PPI done. I feel they looked after my interest and would use them again if necessary. They are on the internet. They were refered to me by another Porsche garage in the same area (can't remember name)I found them from the PCA Houston website. On my drive home I stopped into Baton Rouge,LA (Harris Porsche). Check engine light was on, they fixed me up in no time and I was back on the road. Mechanic/Technician Vincent (Vinie) Carollo top notch, real cracker jack. There was another mechanic/technician (can't remember his name) he also seemed to be ontop of things. They worked together if needed. I wouldn't hesitate returning to these guys, even the Service Managers were good.
