  1. For anyone considering this change, I have completed the swop using the jumper lead as suggested. In essence the c1 block number 6 output needs to be linked to the A socket switched amplifier 12v output. This provides a trigger for the DSP system. As an aside the new head unit is ipod compatable and I have installed the becker control unit it all works a treat and looks factory fit which I prefer.
  2. Incidentally, should have said the second diagram is for the Porsche cdr22 (220) in the US.
  3. I recently purchased this unit, I am aware that I need to instal a jumper lead to get the factory fit DSP unit to fire up but even though its referred to in many posts I can't locate it? Does anyone have the information to hand??? I've attached images for the rear of both units. Additionally I noted that the telephone earth an live are to different pins is this significant?
  4. I have purchased a Mexico pro becker unit and want to replace my cdr22 stock unit, I have the DSP system and understand I need to fit a jumper cable to get it to fire up.. Can anyone help with details of how to do this???

  5. Thanks for the reply.... As always you were spot on.... This is a valuable resource I've contributed to make sure it stays available
  6. My dealer has a dura metric tester can this be enabled on a Porsche 996 carrera 4 with memory seat function useing this device
  7. Help! The felt rubbing strips on my cabriolet 996 rear 1/4 windows have worn down to the rubber so I contacted Porsche who sold me the trim strips for a very reasonable £27 each side... All good I think and set about changing them..... Dilemma! There appears to be no way to remove the trims from the alloy carrier bonded to the glass despite the trims themselves looking like they simply slide in. Phone call to Porsche, "no we don't know" so my question is simple...... Does anyone have any experience of doing this job and can they shed some light? To clarify the position I'm talking about the felt strips which the front windows run over as they are closing not the window seal to the rear 1/4 panel. Regards
  8. Mine was torn through badly in the same way, I repaired it by using a hollow door seal as you would find inside the boot(trunk) of a car and bonding it inside the tube section with clear flexible glue. I simply cut the hollow tube away from the boot seal openned up the hollow tube of the window seal cut the shape to fit whilst dry then used the glue as easing solution to get it deep inside the fitting and allowed it 24 hrs to cure. To date it has held up ( a year) but I do ensure that I lubricate it with a very very small quantity of silicon grease (on both sides to prevent the same thing occurring).
  9. Does anyone know if the rear spoiler (fixed with hydraulic lifting lip) from a 2001 996 turbo would be compatible with my 996 carrera 4 Convertable 1999

Well research is king, it appears the answer is a resounding no.... Deck is over long on a narrow body car and the ram motors foul the air box in any case!!!!

  10. Wow i must be one light footed driver, I run my 996 c4 cab as a daily driver on 95 octane super unleaded and see between 24 and 29 to the gal regularely. Before you ask, nope I don't make contributions to green peace or have a save the planet sticker on the rear screen I do use the cars potential when I feel the need and wouldn't go back to a Japanese cat if I was paid. I do think the extra Ron makes a difference in performance and economy
  11. Ok so just crossed 100,000 took a little less time than I thought but the car is my daily driver 996 3.4 carrera 4 cab 1998..... A real early example with a made for exhibition code under the bonnet It's a great car, uses no oil engine has almost full oil pressure at 65 mph and purrs Ownership hasn't been cheap, but I think the bills were to be expected at the change from 99999.... New coil packs (one failed) a full service to include the diff/gearbox oils together with a refix on the exhaust. The last two bills I'm expecting are for a couple of rear tyres which are currently running 4mm each. I can't tell ya (let's face it you all know what I mean) how much I enjoy that silly grin when I use the car and that's worth the costs. For what it's worth I ran an mr2 convertible for 3 years and the costs were much the same part per part. So there you have it my car so far...... I intend to put a thread in on retro fitting an iPod / iPhone adapter onto the cr22 /220 later this year till then thanks for the ready supply of information to be found in like minded folk
  12. Thinking about installing the Bose sub to my dsp equipt c4 conv

  13. Just bought my first 996 (1998 Carrera 4 cab).... Owned prev by a friend and well cared for. Showing 96,689 miles so will be crossing 100,000 this year, engine original which still runs sweetly. Spend the last night or two going over the history and it appears the worst set of bills so far was for a jammed roof rebuild @ £2800 in 2008, strangely that is the only thing which has a problem..... Occasionally the operation is hesitant. Hey ho, it's still one he'll of a car which has been on my dream list for years....... Here's to 2011 Shaun
