  1. A lot of people use compressed air to unblock the tubes, just try to blow them through. Off the top of my head I can't think where the rear drains exit. I think the front ones are behind the wheel arch liner at the front so could be the same at the rear.
  2. That would be good to see a write up as there might be a few more Targa roof problems in the future now they are starting get a little older.
  3. Indeed it had seized the scavenger pump bank 1-3 with a piece of chain roller and this in turn snapped the chain and cracked the cam sprocket. IMS to crank pulley sheered off and 10 bent valves with 4 normal followers and 6 vario cam plus followers also required as they had dint's in them. I upgraded the IMSB and fitted loads of new parts to future proof it a little. It took me a couple of months to rebuild the engine but its all back up and running now and I'm able to enjoy the car for the last couple of months of (UK) Summer.
  4. When they install the Targa roof at the factory they do it through the windscreen, that's the easy way, but you will need to remove the screen. There is probably another way that's not so easy, but finding answers may be hard to come by as not many have removed the roof. OPC will charge a fortune for this work and even they won't of done the work before. There is a place in Wigan (UK) that's breaking a Targa, My advice would be to insert/glue a tube into the shortened drain to extend it and see how that goes.
  5. I agree with you on this, my rear LEDs always get positive comments but I have Facelift Litronic headlights and these are great as they are.
  6. Hi everyone. I've found this thread from searching as I've had the same problem with a snapped cam chain, I've only just started breaking the engine down to find out what had happened, this what I discovered. Marcm, what was the outcome from your engine failing, did you ever rebuild it? Would be great to know how you got on. I'm looking to rebuild myself so all help would be appreciated.
  7. I have had my 2001 Targa since December and I have been more and more glad I bought it over the Coupe and some of the Cabriolets had faults so I steered clear of them (no disrespect to the Cabrio's though). It felt like there was no difference between the Targa and Coupe when test driving before I bought. There are a few minor squeaks from the Targa roof over rough roads (in the UK they are really rough at the moment) but totally silent on smooth roads and when last weekend the sun was shining the roof was open all weekend. At least you have the choice to open or not. There are a few Targa haters out there but just enjoy your purchase if you do go ahead with it. It is more of a exclusive club but it may come with a few other problems in the future as there are more components that could go wrong. As for issues, there are just all the usual Porsche issues to worry about. But thats another thread or two.
