  1. Very nice, congratulations on the motor. What wheels are those??
  2. The engine mounts are hydraulic dampened so look for any leakage. The rubber can develop cracks, sags or tear away from the outer metal casting. Porsche often gives a minimum height for mounts, I'll look through the manual and post them if I find the info.
  3. It's often much more cost effective to get the alternator repaired then replaced.
  4. A bad mount puts the whole power train out of whack and could be the cause of the vibration but from your description it sounds exhaust related. I was thinking along the lines of the exhaust system being too close to a suspension component or heat shield because of a poor mount.
  5. I would start with cleaning the throttle body/idle speed motor. How did you check for a vacuum leak?
  6. Both are good brands. I believe Suncoast has Porsche parts for just above cost.
  7. Replace the mass air flow sensor, I've cleaned loads of them and never had any long lasting results. Let us know how it all turns out.
  8. I have not noticed this and it's sounds like your dealer is feeding you a line of BS. Ask to take another Cayenne of the same year from their lot for drive and see if it acts the same way. There is a TSB issued on a ignition coil problem(V6 only?) but I believe it also triggers a check engine light when the problem occurs.
  9. Had to say what short term damage occurred but if it's over revved enough times the connecting rod will try and escape the engine case. There is always a risk of damage each time this happens but to what extent who can say.
  10. One other thing to check, in rare cases the wheel brngs can cause a problem, be sure they are tightened correctly and don't have excessive movement.
  11. If you blew out the slave cylinder trying to operate the clutch then something is very wrong. I would start at the pressure plate loaded/unloaded height measurement and thickness of the disc. By loaded/unloaded I mean the height of "fingers" to the wear surface of the plate installed and just sitting level on the bench. Hope this makes sense.
  12. This is a new one to me also, please report back with any findings.
  13. I had this happen once on a 986 but loads of time on VW's. I collected as many of the pieces as possible but sure I missed a few.... so far so good with no problems. Try your best to find them but don't lose any sleep over it.
  14. Many things can cause a leak but there is a plastic line near the firewall that seems to have a short service life. I believe the engine needs to be removed for repair.
  15. If the '87 still uses ceramic fuses it wise to replace them. They might look fine but develop corrosion at their ends andcause loads of intermittent problems.
  16. What part of the country are you moving to? Each province has different rules/laws for imported cars. And yes I'm sure they can be removed but check with your local regulations.
  17. Loads of info about batteries if you do a quick search. And welcome to the forum.
  18. So you joined Renntech just to slag them? What reason did they give to refuse taking care of the problem?
  19. Welcome to the forum. I still have a 1970 914 thats been a fun little car over the years but at the moments it's hiding under a few feet of snow.
  20. Thanks for the pics trevorc... I haven't ran into this problem yet but now know how to sort it.
  21. I have a question. Where does the coil break/fail, is it on the rubber insulator the connects the coil to the plug? Any pics would be great.
