  1. Maybe I'll take it to a shop, then. I really didn't want to give up on it, though.
  2. I've tried researching and debugging this issue on my Boxster for months now. I must have read about 1000 topics, but nothing has 100% the same issue as I am having. To put it simply: My windows work, as in, they go up and down when you open the door handles, but that is it. The centre console switches don't work, and the they don't drop when I lower the convertible roof. More detail: The drivers door window drops and immediately raises again when I open the outer or the inner door handle. If I hold either handle open, the door continues to stay dropped (1in), until the handle goes back to the original raised state. The passenger window drops when I open the door, and stays dropped 1in. When I close it, it returns to the normal height. I think this is correct? The window switches in the centre console do not work at all. I bought a new one to test if it was either switch, but it still doesn't work. When inspecting the old switches, there was a lot of sticky goo under the console. I presume a previous owner spilt something all over the centre console.. The windows do not drop when I open the roof. From research, this seems to be the microswitch where the latch attaches to the windscreen. I don't think this would stop the window switches from working, though. I'd also like to add that my alarm does not work, at all. I've no idea why. The horn beeps twice when I try to lock it, so I presume it is because it thinks something is open.. Things that I think could be causing it: Microswitch on the outer door handle Microswitch on the inner door handle Microswitch in the door lock mechanism However, from research, these all only seem to link to the window staying lowered when the door is open. I've seen nothing about power window switches not working. So, does anyone know WTF is going on? :D I've read a lot about the window regulator causing issues, but could it be an issue considering the windows still "work" (you know, drop sometimes)? It is also very strange that neither switch works... Is there anything I can do to test if power is getting to the motor, or something? Maybe using a multi-meter? I have the Bentley Manual, but I am struggling to understand the electrical diagrams. I hope someone on here can help me with this! I don't want to give in and bring it to a shop/dealer! :( Thanks!
  3. Both windows not working at the same time, insinuates a central issue somewhere - unless of course, real bad luck and two motors or regulators are out, at once! Do the windows lower when the doors are opened? If yes, regulators should be good. Mine did. Do the windows lower when the convertible latch is undone? If not, bad motors/bad wires/bad window buttons is all I can come up with. Mine didn't, which led to the electrical issue identification. Try swapping out the (C3 and D1) fuses for other ones, check battery charge, battery disconnect and reconnect after a few mins and press down the close end of the window buttons for a few seconds, check microswitch at the latch (using a pen, to see if it pulls down the windows) - some of the checks that I came across my research while debugging this one. Hope this helps. The drivers side window lowers and raises straight away when you open the door handle (interior + exterior). If you hold the handles open, it stays lowered. The passenger side window stays down until the door is closed. The windows don't move at all when the top goes down. Nothing happens at all. I might try and replace that switch... I have ordered 1 replacement dock lock mechanism to see if that fixes any issues. The window switches do nothing. Are you saying that if I unpress the little button where the convertible top latches in, the windows should drop? (sorry, they have never worked!). Thank you!
  4. ****. I am having the exact same issue, and I got excited to see you fixed it. But it appears that my fuses are all just fine..
  5. All the fuses are fine, I'm not sure how to check the relays? I also removed the drivers seat and checked the fuse in the alarm box; it was fine. There was no sign of water damage or even dampness. I removed the window switches and cleaned them up with electrical spray but still no luck. The connections looked fine but I have no way to check if the switches actually work. Should the heated seat switches work in place for the window switches? The car runs great and drives great, other than the clutch which will be fixed in the next few weeks.
  6. Could you find out what my code is? Becker1 CDR-220 Type 4362 Serial No. Y5023155 24/99 Many thanks, Rob
  7. I recently bought a used 2001 Porsche Boxster S, 91k miles in California (where I live). It was fairly cheap, but as a result of that, I am having some issues. I have searched the forums and found some information, but nothing directly relating to these issues: The central locking does not work. Pressing the lock butting on the key fob does nothing; if i press it twice/three times, the horn beeps twice, but nothing happens. Pressing the lock button inside the car does nothing. Locking the drivers side door locks the door, but not both doors. I am going to remove the drivers seat tomorrow and check the fuse in the alarm box. There does not seem to be any dampness around there, however. Neither electric windows work. The buttons seem to be a little sticky so im unsure if it is the buttons or the windows themselves. When I open/close the doors, the windows do lower/raise a little as they should. The clutch is slipping in high gears. Lame. In my old Nissan 240sx this was an expensive fix. I'm sure for the Porsche it'll be worse.. Estimates? I presume I need to fix the IMS issue at the same time.. The roof opening/closing is intermittent. It would not work earlier, and bashing the panel a little and then trying again fixed it. However it still randomly stops working sometimes. Parking light is on. The passenger seat electric reclining adjuster button works going back, but not forward. It doesn't seem to push forward at all. :/ The two alarm sensors where the convertible "Push" lever is have no covers; is this correct? Long list... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robert
