  1. Becker offers an adaptor that uses the aux inputs on the back of the radio. However this eliminates the CD changer that uses these inputs so it is one or the other.
  2. What year car are you putting them in. I can send you a wiring diagram, PM me with your email. However, if the car did not have power seats you may have a problem. Each wiring harness is made specific to the options in the car, so if it did not have power seats the wiring may not be there to provide power/contrals, etc. I know that when I added seat heaters (OEM) to my 2000 Cab I had to add wiring to accomodate the relays, switches, etc,, You may need the fusebox diagrams also, which I can send you.
  3. Great car. I have a 2000 C4 Cab and so does my business partner. both Blue, mine has a beige interior and his the grey. You will love the car, and the CPO is a great addition. How much longer is the CPO for? And if you don't mind saying, about what did you pay for it?
  4. My buddy has a 2000 Ocean Blue cab, blue top and light grey interior, and tinted windows. I don't have pictures but it looks pretty good. The only challenge is the plastic rear window. I don't think you can tint the plastic windows. I guess you could tint the newer glass rear windows. This is the only thing that has kept me from tinting the windows on my 2000 cab.
  5. Go with the Librarian, I did and they are great, best purchase I have made for my car.
  6. The PSE uses vacumn from the engine to open and close pneumatic valves on each muffler. There is a vacumn resevior so it is possible that there is enough vacumn left to open and close the valves a few times after the engine is switched off, but it does not use the battery/electricity to actually actuate the valves themselves, only the relay and switch use electricity. However, if wired properly the power to the system is cut off when the ignition is turned off. On a properly installed PSE you have to turn it to quiet mode every time you start the car, and the vacumn closes the valves to close off the muffler bypass.
  7. I agree, all the guage rings are essentially the same. I bought these on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Aluminum-Ga...1QQcmdZViewItem They fit and look great. Use clear silicone to install whatever rings you may buy. Don't spend the extra money for "OEM" rings they are not worth it. I have bought from Bumper Plugs, and they are a great vendor, I highly recommend them, but the "OEM" rings are not worth any extra.
  8. You can buy a RemoteTop from Wilhelmy-IT and it will give you the function of using your key to open and close the windows and sunroof.
  9. Do a search here and at REnnlist.com. There are lots of threads on this, including pictures of the install adn how to mount the 4" in the dash. I did it. You use the frames from the stock speakers to mount the Mids and silicone to mount the tweeters. I used 5" in the doors and with some dremel work they fit fine. I know Newport996 has the 6.5" in the doors, but i don't know how he got them to fit. You will have to run new wires to the dash as the stock set up doesn't use crossover, but uses resisters, so there is only one set of wires. Look at the threads, them if you need some help let me know.
  10. Save the money of the head set and repalce the speaker first. The best head set will still sound crappy with the standard speakers, while the stock headset will sound much better through a good pair of speakers. I stll have the stock head set running through Focal 100KP's in the dash and 5WS in the doors and it sounds great compared to the stock set up.
  11. Here is an RMS tool for sale on Ebay, http://motors.search.ebay.com/porsche-996_...itsearchZSearch About 2 hours left at 1:00P.M. Thurs, Central Time. They are asking $125.00
  12. Left side is 996.555.071.12, Right side is 996.555.072.12. As per Loren, you need to specify a color.
  13. OK, here are some numbers for you. The caps are 996.555.457.00, C50 in graphite grey, B50 in space grey. My PET shows only graphite grey for MY99, but you should check to make sure of your color. The front cover is 996.563.551.00, 01C in black. Please check this number with your parts source as it is hard to tell if this is the right cover on the PET diagram. Good Luck
  14. Smoked is the way to go. I have one on my Ocean Blue C4 and it looks great. Really disappears unless the brake light is lit. The clear would show up much more. I have a cab so I put them on both the stationary light and the spoiler light.
  15. The wiring harness is listed in the TSB you supplied as 996.612.070.51. A;sp ;ool at the instructions, section 2.3.4 which discusses thejumper to deal with the light.
  16. The cans themselves are compatible/interchangable, but the pipes that bolt to the cans (on the output side) and extend to the rear bumper are different on 99-01 and 02+ as the bumpers changes and the position of the tips changed. Therefor, you have to use the tailpipe pieces from the arlier years on early years cars. If you look in PET they actually show different tailpipe pieces/part numbers for 00, 01, 02, 03 and 04. but the 99-01 have the same rar bumper/outlet position, starting in 01 the rear bumper was changed. Also, now that I remembrer it, the support backets on the earlier cars (996.111.227.02-left and 996.111.228-02-right through 01 and 996-111-237.02-Left and 996.111.237.02-right for 02+) are also different, the bolt patterns is slightly different, so when I put the new PSE cans on I had to change the brackets that attached the cans to the carriers on the engine. The attachment to the cans is the same so the brackets can be interchanged.
  17. Hate to disagree with ScottArizona, but the tips and pipes on the exhaust side of the 3.6 cans won't work on a 99-01. Thre rear bumper was reconfigured and the tips are in a different location. I know this becuase I found a set of 3.6 PSE's on Ebay (about $500) and installed them on my 00 C4Cab. I used the old tailpipe sections from my 3.4 exhaust on the new cans, they work fine and fit perfectly. I sold my new tailpipe pieces to another member that had a 3.4 PSE he was putting on a newer car. So you can use the 3.6 cans, but will have to reuse the older tailpipe pieces on a 99-01 car.
  18. Again, the heater elements for the seat cushion and the backrest are separate parts, so if one is bad, the other should be working, it would be unusual for both to go bad at the same time. Problem is probably in the relay or the wring/connections. Swapping the relay is a good idea. Also, go to www.dennisvogel.com and look in his boxster section for the article on adding heated seats. It has all the wiring diagrams, illustrations, part numbers etc., which could be helpful to you in diagnosing the problem. I used this article with some mods to add heated seats to my 996.
  19. I purchased a warranty through my dealer from EasyCare. My car is a 2000 C4, so it went out of warranty in 2004 with about 32,000 miles. The EasyCare was their "Gold" version, not quite bumper to bumper but good coverage. It goes for 4 additional years, and up to 75,000 miles, with a $200 deductible. Cost was about $2,500 (a good portiuon of which goes to the selling dealer). The price varied according to the deductible and the tyep of coverage. Unfortunatley I am out of town now so can't check exactly what the coverage is of the price, but it was alot less than $3,500. So far it has paid for a RMS replacement no questions asked, or even an inspection. Also paid through my Indy, not just through the dealer ( the dealer charges $149/hr, the Indy $99/hr and I was having other work done at the same time, the clutch needed replacing so the RMS covered the R&R of the trans, I papid a couple of hours to upgrade the throughout lever/bearings). You might want the check out EasyCare, the seem pretty good.
  20. Threre is also a relay under the set which could have gone bad. Do both the seat bottom and back fail to heat? They are separate elements so if both are not heating it would indicate the the problem is not the cushions themselves.
  21. Use a zip tie on the switch. This is what I and many others did. Works fine and is easily reversible. Much easier than wiring changes. The only real disadvantage is the possibility of banging into something (garage wall, etc.) if you try to start it when it is in gear.
  22. If you have summer tires you really don't wsnt to do drive it in the mountains, particularly if there is any chance of snow. When I first got my C4 it had P-Zero's, on the first slight snow I tried to drive it and it was quite dangerous. Even without snow these tires get extremely hard when the temperature is below 40F and have nowhere near the adhesion you have grown to expect. I guess chains would be helpful, but are cumbersome, particularly if there is only a slight amount of snow. What yu really need is winter tires. I use Dunlop Winter sports, and they are great in the cold and snow. I have driven them in 4-6" and never erally had a problem. Other brands like Blizzaks are also supposed to be quite good, the rubber compounds in these tires are made for cold conditions. I guess if you live somewhere that does not get regular snow in the winter, winter tires may not be worth the cost, but don't risk your car on summer tires in these conditions. also, Porsche has recommendations and specs for approved winter tires.
  23. That is alot of oil for every 1,000 k (620 miles). I typcially get my oil changed every 5,000-6,000 miles and an very seldom down even a quart over this mileage, and I just replaced the RMS which was seeping.
