  1. RR GT3, Although I have a different car I may have a solution for your CEL. I installed a Tech Art exhaust with 100 cell cats on my 997 turbo.. Shortly after driving I got a CEL. I reset it and I got another CEL. After doing some research and talking to some tuners the answer was an extension from the O2 sensor bung to the O2 sensor. The extensions are about an inch and a half long. The extension changes the perameters to the ECU so it doesn't throw a CEL. After installation of the extensions...Voila... No more CEL. Just thought this may interest you....
  2. Oh okay.. I'm not sure you'll get much more sound with the cats.. They are expensive and a PIA sometimes.. Also remember if they are not the highest quality (aka EBay) you might not pass smog when it's time for testing.. If that is a concern...
  3. Never reving above 4k rpm? Why? Your engine hates that...Drive the car hard... That's what it's made for.. You will have fewer problems and maintenance down the road.. As for the smell.. I agree with Logray. I love that smell. If you are concerned do what he said and get it on a lift to see if you have some kind of "rub". Hope you solve your issue...
  4. If you reallly want sound consider the K & N intake.. I know it has some haters but my good friend has one on his 997 C4S and it sounds awesome.. Around 5k rpm it just screams. He's a real Porsche fanatic as well. He has never had any issues with CEL or fouling a MAF. He has left his exhaust stock. Something to think about if your looking for more sound... Here is a link. They claim a gain of 23 hp.. This is highly doubtful.. But it will sound awesome... http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?id=1543
  5. Do you have aftermarket mufflers? They will produce a much sweeter sound than the cats.. You don't have your stock cats? I tried every combination of cats, not cats, and mufflers with my 3.4 996 and found that the stock cats with the Fabspeed mufflers produced the sweetest sound and the best performance...
  6. That is cool! Where did you get the Porsche crest and how did you adhere it to the paint? It is actually a magnetic "sticker" that you can peel off at any time without damaging the paint. Can you tell me where you purchased it? Thanks ! http://www.ebay.com/...=item2a1b12a4fe Awesome... Thank you...
  7. If you go for the cheap tips you will be sorry. They do not fit well and you will probably retrurn them... Fabspeed makes great tips. Pricey but great quality and fitment. Like Logray says you can always polish your existing tips... Or if you do decide to get new ones you can go for the black chrome which doesn't show the dirt as much. I have chrome Fabspeed tips on my Turbo and I clean them everyday... Seriously.... DO NOT buy anything from Vivid.. They are the worst...Anyone but them.. You've been warned... :censored:

  10. Personally I would stay away from the Sport Cats for your car. They are a waste of money. They do add performance to a Turbo but not a normally aspirated M96 engine. ( No matter what the claims are.) The best bang for the buck on a 996 is a set of good hi-flow muffers and CPU flash. You won't get a lot more HP but the car will be more responsive and fun to drive.. Just my 2 cents...
  11. Perhaps an indie with a PIWIS tester can search for faults to try and trouble shoot your TPMS messages... There are a lot of Porsches in Arizona...No good indies????
  12. I sent the info to your e mail... Remember if you want the wheels completely repainted you will have to take them off the car and remove the tires. Wheel places usually charge quite a bit for this.. (as much as $200 per wheel.) This guy just does touch ups... Also if you have him do touch ups DO NOT drive your car for at least 24 hours (If the weather is warm.. If cold 48 hours.) If you dont let the paint dry completely brake dust and dirt will get on it and ruin the finsh.. (ask me how I know..)
  13. If you need new sensors DO NOT HAVE THE DEALER DO THE WORK!. 4 new sensors should cost you a little over $400. Go to a reputable tire and wheel shop (or Porsche indie) that works on high end cars. They should be able to help you. If you want to know how bad your dealer is trying to screw you here is an example (see link below) of the sensor price (for your car) from Suncoast Porsche. http://www.suncoastp..._Code=987WHELAX I hate dealers.... $1,200 ?????
  14. ER, Be cautious on buying wheels and tires. Be comfortable with the fact that you'll never see any of money you're going to spend (re sale.) I put on a beautiful set of Victor 5 spoke 20's matched with Perellis on my 997 Carrera. I'd only had them on the car about 3 months when I decided to trade the car in for a Turbo. They only had about 800 miles on them. The dealer wanted the car with the stock wheels so I put them back on thinking "no problem.. I'll just sell the 20's" Well that didn't work out too well . They are sitting in my garage.. Basically brand new witth TPMS sensors.... No one will touch them.. I have tried to sell them with absolutely no luck.. You can have my 20's CHEAP if you want them. I don't know if you'll like the style.. Here is a pic..
  15. I saw that review. Chris Harris is the best.. The car looks awesome..
  16. That is interesting. I have a mobile wheel guy who has worked on all my Porshe wheel scuffs. When I had my 997 Carrera he had no problem matching the silver on the 5 spoke rims. He's not exactly a "factory trained technician" either... Maybe it's because I'm in L.A. and there are so many mobile wheel refinishers.... I guess they know what paint to use. Enjoy your new toy!!!!
  17. Incredible.. Keep us posted once you have it apart. I just had my Tech inspect my 997 Turbo. It's my daily driver as well. Asked him if there was any preventative maintenance I should be doing (I have 55k miles now) he said "drive it more." Nuf said....
  18. Have to agree with Francois. Hard to beat the Turbo's "smile factor"... :jump:
  19. Francois, Great to see you here again. The Michelins (Pilot Sport) are still probably the favorite. I go through tires so fast i don't see the need to pay what Michelin wants for those tires. I don't track my car so I have opted for the Bridgestone RE-11"s. They have great dry and wet grip for street use. They are quiet and wear decent. They are about 30% cheaper than the Michelins. I went through the rears in about 6000 miles but that's how I drive. My friend has a 2007 C4S and has already worn his Pilot Sports to the wear bar in 5000 miles.. He drives hard as well... Here's a pic (fronts) of the RE-11"s. I'm sure others will chime in here with their recommendations as well (probably tell you that the RE-11's are crap  .) All the best....
  20. Looks awesome! I would have never thought that color would work but it does... I ask as well... How much for the wrap?
