  1. Ok, confirmed: both my Treo Windows Mobile 5 PDA and my HTC S710 Vox Smartphone hang when trying to pair with the TOOKI. Again, no problems with the Blackberry 8100 or the Moto PEBL. tmc
  2. Got the car back today: Overall, WOW this works just like having a Tequipment phone module! However, I wasn't able to pair my HTC Windows Mobile 6 phone. It just hung after I entered the four-digit security code during the BT handshake. I was able to pair both my old Blackberry Perl and my wife's Motorola PEBL. So my guess is that, if you have Moto or Blackberry branded phones, you'll be fine. I have yet to try my Treo 750, but I'll report back once I do. tmc
  3. Is the GAL sensor wire (pin A-1) the same as a speedometer wire? In other words, does it pulse once per rev of the wheels? thanks tmc
  4. Had the Dension in another car (a 987S) and it was "ok" for iPod use. I found the user interface clunky, but I have no proof that the Nav-TV would be any different. The bluetooth module to the Dension was crap, though. It treated a call as though it were a CD playing. You had to switch modes to CD changer mode to answer. Very bizarre. tmc
  5. Got my TOOKI today and will have it installed tomorrow in my Targa 4S! I'll report back on how it goes. tmc
  6. Traded my 07 C2S (which had a factory short shifter) for a new 08 Targa 4S yesterday (:D) and the shifter is, well, short! I negotiated to have a short shifter put in with the dealer, and will bring it buy next week, but I'll be damned if it doesn't feel short as hell already. Do C4S / T4S already include the short shifter?? If so, I'll swap my shortshifter kit for another goodie. Thanks all :renntech: tmc
  7. Worked like a charm. I had read elsewhere you needed to remove the battery, but you really don't. If you have a fish tape (standard electricians' tool), it is a piece of cake. A bent wire hanger might even work.
  8. Yeah that's good, thanks. I'm installing the bluetooth interface and leaving the mic in the trunk would make for awkward phone calling, to say the least. tmc
  9. I'm trying the Dension install on my 2007 987S. How do you get through the firewall from the battery area to inside the cabin? Anyone done this? tmc
  10. You might be suffering from the new console design, if your car is a 2007: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9741 tmc
  11. I know you're many states away, but anyone in RDU, check these guys out: http://carolinacustombuilders.com/ They built our spare garage to maintain my P-car hobby along with my woodworking hobby: It's wide so I can put a workbench around the perimeter. There's a tablesaw in the middle, boxster on the left, 911 on the right B)
  12. RonCT, Thanks that's the kind of advice I needed. I guess I can buy a watch and press the pedal harder. tmc
  13. Yeah that's really all I want. On my 987S, I bought sport chrono and just push SPORT every time as part of my pre-flight checklist. Do you know of any third party solution to my 'dilemma'?
  14. I did not order the Sport Chrono wart on my car, and only want the throttle remap that the 'SPORT' button gives. Does anyone know if throttle remapping is done using ECU flashing or other firmware, or via other techniques? tmc
  15. Also, see this: http://tinyurl.com/2vc69e especially the second page. tmc
  16. There's a pretty extensive discussion of this on Rennlist, and frankly it doesn't sound all that good: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...520#post4313520 Key points: Porsche MOST bus does not support the mute capability A phone call is treated like a track on a playing CD. Thus when a call comes in, you have to switch to CD changer manually to answer it. I'll wait or put in a dongled Parrot BT adaptor.
  17. Eric, In 2007+ vehicles, this is now screwed down. You need to... 1) Get an old credit card and pry up the shifter boot from the back, it should snap off. Under the boot are four screws, remove these. 2) In each wheel well in the back the carpet 'triangles' need to be removed. They are screwed on with a large (30?) torx screws that are embedded in the carpet. 3) Once the carpet triangles are off, there is a torx screw, one per each side, that holds on the alumi-look trim. Remove these. 4) Now the rest of the B&P procedure applies. Hope that helps your customer. Tom
  18. The wire you want is the one farther towards the center of the console, i.e., not the one nearer towards the edge. tmc
  19. This should help: http://tinyurl.com/2l5gbl
  20. Got mine from Suncoast: http://tinyurl.com/3y99ou Tom
  21. (Guys note the original post was over a year ago.) In any regard, I put an AVIC-Z1 in my 2002 Targa and it works and looks great. My only quibble is the glow on the buttons is blue, whereas the rest of the car is amber. A small thing, I know, but somehow annoying nevertheless. Tom
  22. Looks like an extremely minor tweak. In fact, it appears the major sheet metal has not changed. Why? Donno.
  23. You're probably right. In fact, MAX AC is a nice feature, especially in the South. Hmm, so what should I spend my money on? :) j/k
