  1. Wow - i just briefly looked at it, I did not realize it was so extensive. It looks like it has everything I need. I will let you know how it goes.
  2. Loren - sorry I do not think I was clear, but I have an opportunity to buy heated sport seats and was wondering what other parts I would need from Porsche to make it work. I know I need dash switches, but what about the wiring and stuff.
  3. This is also posted on Rennlist. Does anyone know or have experience adding heated seats to their car. I am thinking about adding heated sport seats to my 01 C2 Cab that does not have heated seats. I thought Loren would see it here quicker.
  4. Does anyone know if the 3 button 986 (Boxster) remote head will work with a 2001 996. I know I only need the 2 buttons, but I want to make sure it will work. p.s Happy New Year everyone
  5. They do not flash unless you do the mod that Loren mentions.
  6. Is there a DIY for cleaning the MAF and tightening the bolts for the Air Intake Throttle Body. I have tried everything to get rid of error code 1128. Replaced air filter with K&N filter, checked all hoses and no air leaks. Still, every 150-200 kms, the CEL comes on. I would like to try cleaning the MAF and tightening the bolts a try before I take to a dealer who will empty out my pocket.
  7. You can get a new spare key made without the remotes BUT you still need to program it for the key recognition. Any Porsche dealer can do it.
  8. That is what I thought. I checked the fuses and they are okay. Where is the DRL relay?
  9. Just noticed something today while driving my car. My car does not have daytime running light, either that or my light are out. Can someone confirm that in MY 2001 daytime running lights are standard.
  10. 2001 C2 Cab - Artic Silver on Black Called the dealer today about getting a new key and getting the remote part programmed for my car. The service advisor asked if I had the 16 digit serial number??? I told him no, that I only had the remote part of the key and I wanted to order the metal key and have them program the remote. He advised he could not and that the key is useless unless I have the code. Is this true, anyone else heard of this. Anyone know where I can go in the Toronto area to get the remote programmed.
  11. Dan - not to discredit you, but does anyone have any other opinions to this. I just bought my first Porsche and will probably take out a few times in the winter and want to make sure I am doing everything right.
  12. What are you asking for the it, I may be interested if your buyer is worried about fitment and does not want it.
  13. I am getting my engine replaced by Porsche for my 2001 C2 Cab and was wondering what the appropriate break-in method would be. This is my first Porsche and the dealer who is giving me the car managed to get a new motor. I would like to ensure that I break-in my motor correctly. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
  14. Even though your warranty is up, you may be eligible for a motor from Porsche under the Engine Replacement Program. They will cover some of the cost. Try that avenue first to help offset the cost.
  15. I just got word from my friend. Porsche is going to replace the motor under the exchange program. They have agreed to pay 75% of the cost of the new motor. Does anyone have any more info on this. Am I still getting a good deal? Has anyone done an exchange through this program. Any info would be great.
  16. Does anyone have any experience changing the lights from a 2001 996 to a 2002. I know the bumper will need to be changed, but do the fenders also. I am not too concerned about the bumper since I will fit something else on, but I am concerned about the fenders. Any guidance or opinions would be appreciated.
  17. Guys thanks for the advice and guidance. Once I get the vehicle I will let you know what Porsche did. When my mechanic looked at the vehicle, he saw very little wear on the clutch, oil pump, water pump, etc. He commented that the car was very well maintained, but he worried about the RMS seal. Everything else was fine. I will let you know what they do about the engine and whether they stamp a different number or the same.
  18. Yeah you are right, from you I do not think I will get any help. Let alone want it. I do not see how I get from asking for a simple thing like a manual, and I end up in a debate about what I should and should not do with a forum. Loren can you please delete this thread. Thanks.
  19. LVDell - I did not know it was necessary to donate to this site. I happened to stumble acrosss it when I did a google search. It said nothing about donating. I will gladly donate to the site since I find it very useful and informative about prosches and being a newbie, ever bit of information helps. Secondly, maybe the preacher should do what he preaches. You are the one that came on the thread with the attitude. You made it seems as if I had to have indepth knowledge about porsche cars with the remark "consider helping support this site that Loren has put together with a wealth of information such as manual available as downloads in pdf format, etc." If I had a wealth of information, I would offer some..... If I could contribute, I would.
  20. Guys I need to pick some brains on this. I am a little worried about the car that I am purchasing. My very good friend, I guy I have known for 10 years is the dealer who bought this car for me. He deals exclusively with high end Porsche, Ferraris, Lambos, etc. I would trust him with my first born if I had one. Here is the situation, I was supposed to get my 2001 C2 Cab on Wednesday, but I did not. It was at his mechanics shop getting the Rear Main Seal done and engine mount and general inspection. Again this mechanic works exclusively on Prosches, Ferraris, Lambos, Lotus etc. As they were working on the motor, they decided that it would be possible to pull a few strings and get a brand new motor put in for me under warranty. Rather then spend the money putting in a new seal and engine mounts, they decided to call a few friends and get a new motor installed for me at the local Porsche dealer. Here are my concerns, my car is a 2001 with 30,000 kms on it. When I go to sell my vehicle, if I ever do. Won't the new motor hurt my resale value since it is not original. Why would the car need a new engine after only 30,000 kms. Is the RMS leak issue that much of a concern? Is this common in Porsches. My friend said that it is a good thing that I am getting a new motor, that way I can be the first to wreck it (his words). He said that rather than do the Rear Main Seal and worry about it leaking again, it would be better for me to get a new motor put in and not worry about the rear main seal. In the older motors, there could be potential leaks, even after they are replaced several times, this way I get a new motor and the likelihood of a RMS leak is gone. I am glad that I am getting a new motor, but will it affect my resale later?
  21. I have checked that area and they only have the manuals for MY 2003. I am not sure if I am a contributing member, but I just joined the forums and I just bought my first p car. I did not know you had to be an expert or a long-time porsche owner to use this site. I do not know where to get information such as manual's and stuff, that is why I asked here.
  22. Does anyone have a copy of an 2001 C2 Cab Owners Manual in pdf format. I will not get delivery of my car for another week, but I want to read up on it. If someone could send me a link or the actual file I would appreciate it. nick.lee@sympatico.ca Thanks
