  1. I did an exhaustive search for the same topic several months ago as it is time for my top to be replaced. I had also decided to switch from a plastic to a glass window and after receiving very few answers on the forums I decided to go to the guys who do the installing in my area. I found about six installers who were within driving range because if I had any problems I wanted someone close by. Hands down they all recommended GAAH for a glass window because GAAH has a patented sealing process they claimed was like the OEM seal. If you aren't going for glass then they all recommended either GAAH or Robbins which I understand are one and the same now as one or the other bought the other out. I lucked out and picked a GAAH with glass window up off eBay for $329, it was being sold by the shop that had installed it on a customer's car and after two weeks he wanted another color so it was removed. It looks new but doesn't have the plug for the defrosters so I'll either have to buy one from GAAH or make one. Keeping checking around deals do come up. Hope this helps.
  2. Want to know if your fans are working drive your car into a dusty parking area or field when it is up to the temp they should be on and you'll see dust flying up from both front sides if the fans are working. Learned that the hard way just after I washed and detailed my car then went on a wine tour where we had to park in a dirt lot. When I first got my '99 with 74K miles on it it also ran right at the 180 deg. mark but around 82K mi. it kicked up to as high as 199 deg. on hot days. It generally stays at 189-190 deg. and both fans are working, radiators clear, new water pump and it's a tip. After trying to figure out what changed I read the owners manual one day and it states the temp gauge should be at the halfway mark in normal running conditions. Halfway on my gauge is around 190 deg. As long as it doesn't start creeping up into the 200+ range I don't worry about it anymore.
  3. My '99 Boxster Tiptronic turned 100K yesterday on a winding, challenging Fort Ross Rd. that goes from Hwy 1 into Healdsburg. I bought her with 74K miles three years ago and have not regretted one day of ownership. The only repair of a failure I've made so far has been a water pump replacement. I've kept up all regular maintenance with 5K mi. oil and filter changes. It has been the best and most fun car I've ever owned and I'm looking forward to another 100K with her.
  4. Unfortunately Pedro is no longer selling his mount as buyers were not returning the cores.
