  1. atm is probably on the right track. My guess for the different seats and slightly different location may have something to do with the headroom clearance between the coupe and cab ??
  2. In the winter , many states require oxygenated fuels (MTBE etc. ) Essentially , adding of Methanol or Ethanol . Porsche recommends you change your fuel source if any of the following problems occur : - Deterioration of driveability or performance - Substantially reduced fuel economy - VAPOR LOCK and possible non-start problems, especially at higher elevations or at higher temperatures - Engine malfunctioning or STALLING Read you manual , and verify the above before accusing anyone of making "excuses" I am not saying that you may not have a problem , but maybe the above applies ?
  3. I disagree with the short shifter being hard to shift. I just installed one and love it. I would say there is almost no noticable difference in the smoothness from the standard shifter . But then, I installed it myself, and made sure the cable length was just right. (One thing I found out was that the installation tool which came with it was only good for the reverse gear cable. I had to remove it to get the forward gear cable to fit)
  4. DLO TransPod works awesome, far better than any other fm transmitter I have tried in the past Thank you, I will try the DLO unit .
  5. Has anyone been able to connect an I-Pod ( or other MP3 player ) to the 997 radio ? Is it possible via the CD changer connection ? It would be great to be able to convince the radio that it's just another CD and scroll thru the menu. Failing that, does anyone know of a good FM transmitter ? I have the Griffin I-TRIP and it is not very good. Thanks.
  6. Finally was able to get the factory shift knob off .I tried everything and still dont know how anyone could just pull that bloody thing off. I finally invented my own "knob removal" tool out of a scrap piece of 1/2 " thick aluminum. The rest was easy . I simply replaced the standard shifter assembly with the short shift unit and reconnected the cables the same length as before and everything worked flawlessly at first try. Took the car for a test drive and all I can say is WOW .What a difference . I love it . Anybody needs an almost new factory shifter ??
  7. I just installed the short shifter in my 997 S . I never experienced any of your problems with the standard shifter . In fact , it was extremely smooth in all gears . I just installed the Porsche short shifter myself, and I must say , it is great . It is more "precise" than the standard, but I have no problems getting into any gear . In fact , I simply replaced the standard shifter and using the same cable length , it worked great without any further adjustments having been necessary . The only problem I had was getting the shifter knob off .After that , everything else was pretty straight forward . Simply exchanging one for the other . You should have absolutely no problems . If you do , have the dealer fix it and don't accept "its normal" for an answer .
  8. I just received the OEM short shifter for my 997 S today. I got the shift boot off , and the instructions call for turning the bushing below the shifter 90 deg. clockwise . OK, I turned it , but the stick / boot does not want to come off . I don't want to force anything . Is there a trick to this? Tap it from the bottom? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
