  1. I was just at the dealer here in Austin.  Discussed suspension among other things.  He said the shocks sometime fail (bellows no longer hold air tight when worn).   This causes often the compressor to work all the time, burning it out.  Told me it is quite normal to park Panamera in garage, and overnight it would lower (some air loss).  However, as long as when car is started, it pumps up, it should be good to go and continued to be used.

I am getting no issues on any PTT suspension yet, but noticed takes longer than Cayenne turbo to inflate/change level.  So started contemplating doing recondition of compressor internals.  See kits for about 60 bucks.  Worst case wont make a difference.  Best case, will pump more efficiently, therefore turning on less often.

BTW unless car is engine stopped, it is kind of hard to hear that compressor turning on/off.  Does anyone else hear it well when engine is on?

  2. The car I got just had a brand new battery put in (checked the trunk and it was dated end of 2017 for manufacture date).  So I appear to be covered.  Reason I put it on the list is I continuously see people putting their cars on trickle chargers.  If the car is driven every day there is no reason for that, since battery gets charged on the drives.  Am I not thinking correctly here?  Thank you for posting up.

  3. I have questions about the auto stop/start feature on the Panamera.
When it is enabled, if car stops at a stop light, etc, the engine automatically cuts out (leaving electronics on while engine is off).  When light turns green, driver lifts foot off brake, and engine restarts allowing driver to resume driving.

Isnt continuous start/stop of the engine, many times during any routine driving trip to work/home, a bad thing for the engine?
Typically, starting is one of the more harsh things done to an engine.  Am I incorrect in this train of thought?  If continuous stopping and re-starting is not good for the car, why would a driver want to be using this feature (other than uninformed drivers thinking they are cutting down on pollution)?

    Thank you for your enlightenment.

    970 551 725 00 1E0  Retaining hooks for luggage net (6 per car), black -- US MSRP $11.81

I have been looking, and so far only found it at another online place autoa*****a.com for 12.40 plus about 6 bucks shipping.

It appeared to be showing 12.40 (I assume) for each hook.

You quoted 11.81 for all 6, where is that found at?  Tried sunset porsche parts and it could not find item with this PN.  Thank you.

  5. Anyone can recommend a good transmission set - trans filter with seal and trans pan gasket?  Anything else needed other than fluid?

I plan to get the Pentosene trans fluid FFL 3 I believe, which is the original fluid from my reading.  Looking for everything but fluid to replace mine.

Also, there are many kits there which include the transmission pan.  Surely, the pan replacement is not needed, is it?

    Thanks.

  6. I hope to give some insight on air suspension from Cayenne turbo view (own one for several years), and my Panamera Turbo (just recently got it).

It seems that air suspension is a frequent headache for cars it is mounted on (CTT, PTT, etc).

Often, it is the compressor that is the failure.  It appears to stop pumping efficiently.

Other culprits, are other join points - at valve block or at each shock.

To me, I would assess as follows:

If entire car does not raise/lower, and you hear compressor working:

    - I would first check junctions by putting some soapy water see if you can observe leak.  After that, I would suspect compressor

If one of shocks misbehaves (does not raise/lower):

    - check junction points for that shock at valve, at shock.  Then, level sensor.  Then valve block  (although I dont think there would be anything else in there other than leak at connection)

For compressors, there appear to be 2 options:

    1.  Replace entire compressor - I would do this if compressor is just ceased or does not work at all (after checking appropriate relays/fuses, etc)

    • This option for Panamera is going to be expensive - looks like $600-$1000 for a replacement compressor

    2.  Recondition kit for compressor - there are kits you can buy, remove compressor, replace the parts (I think its piston, some other sleeve and seals)

    • This option runs about $50-$100, and would require removal of compressor, taking it apart to replace parts.  More time consuming but substantial less $$ involved

Hope this helps.  Let us know if you already fixed yours, and how, so the thread can have some closure for future DIYers.  Thanks.

  7. I have been comparing my Cayenne and Panamera air suspension times, to raise or lower.

My Cayenne air suspension is faster.  Looks like the Panamera is lazier.

Looks like I will want to take the compressor out and maybe do the recondition parts swap.

Anyone on here done one?  Need locations and possibly parts to swap.  I know this is likely vert premature but I want it done asap if I can.

If it gets cold, air suspension issues tend to amplify with temperature drops.

  8. Went to local Porsche dealer, who investigated closer about my wheel lock key being bad.
After some time, came out with a print out.
    Cannot do without key.

Apparently these locks are part of an advanced type of locks, they called them Thatcham locks.
In the memo he handed out, it says no dealers have any sets at all.  If key is lost, must be re ordered by dealer from Germany, who in turn orders these to be made somewhere in the UK.  Then the key is shipped.  $180 plus multiple days.  Its the delay that is killing me.
Dealer also told me that they could try remove it brute force.
I went to few local mechanic shops.  Turns out the nut has a sleeve around it, preventing jamming of a socket ont the bolt to remove.

As of now, looks like dealer payment is a must.  If you know of any way to remove, let me know.  Dying to do it.
Here is a pic of the thatcham lock.  If anyone knows where I can get replacement, would be awesome.

  9. ...and thanks to your number I was able to get the number for the hook itself.

It is apparently called baggage net hook.  Panamera Number is G970551725001E0 (for black one).

One place charges 12.40.  Wonder if anywhere else they sell for less.  Really appreciate help here too, again.

Attaching image with parts list for those looking for something similar.  This is for Panamera 2010-2014, body, carpet.

Highlighted in blue, #3, is the part (hook itself).

  10. Panamera Cabin Filter Replacement

After this I hope we will not see any more posts about 'I took the Panamera to the dealer to replace the cabin filter'.  Makes my eyes water thinking how easy it is to do on your own. If you really have too much money, send me some (I can pm you my paypal id), and/or you can send some dough to contribute to this forum.  Come on, if you can afford $250 for cabin air filter change, you can support us here.     Just follow each pic from 1 to 10.  All needed is your fingers, but in ca

  11. Panamera master button switch - buttons replacement

I was trying to find a way to replace switch buttons on Panamera, since one of my master button switches (front driver window button) is missing the chrome trim at the edge if it. I set out to learn how to replace.  Came across the video that shows you how to replace button face itself.  Even though the master switch is removed from the door, one can easily see how this can be done with the switch inside the doors.  Simply unhitch one side of the button and remove the button itself, insert

  12. Panamera air filter replacement

This tutorial shows steps for replacing air filter on Panamera. Does not look hard, but to get full instructions/steps, please watch other turorials in the following order: 1.  Panamera headlight removal 2.  Panamera front bumper removal 3.  This tutorial - Panamera air filter replacement Hope it helps out.  DIY you get to make sure things are right every time.

  13. Looking for a set of 20.

On eBay came across some of these.
Anyone have experience or info on these?
Price appears awesome.   Black would be perfect for me.
They are 14x1.5 28mm long, spline, and black.  Set of 20 for $32 shipped.

My rear tires have 8mm spacers, but I dont think I would need longer bolts (until I contemplate getting 15mm spacers, then would need longer).

    Thanks for input.

  14. Just got the car less than 1 week ago (my weekaverssary is this Saturday...lol), and want to get familiar with the normal behavior of the car.  Here are some questions, maybe someone with the knowledge can chime in to educate me.

I am not showing any issues on the car, and (knock on wood three times) hope I never will.  However, I want this info so I can keep an eye on behavior and maybe catch if it ever takes place on my car.

    Thank you.

    1.  How quick does the air suspension compressor take the car from normal driving level to high mode (in seconds, as an approximation)?

    2.  Are there any air suspension messages/warnings I should be keeping an eye on?  Especially messages that are not issues, but could be one later on.

    3.  What is the average distance in driving between getting message that oil is low?  So from full until time oil level says it is low, how many miles should I expect?

    4.  PDCC - is there anything about this system to keep an eye on, other than the PDCC black reservoir fluid level at max?  CH202 I believe is the proper fluid for this

    5.  What is the proper process to check power steering (PDCC) fluid level - engine off or on, hot or cold?

    6.  Suspension - so far so good, but how does your front end noises start manifesting?  Does it typically start with lower arms, upper, bushings or links on sway bar?  Anyone notice pattern in order of failure?  I have brand new lower control arms, but from having CTT can say upper arms typically make a lot of squeaking noises.

    7.  Cooling system - any particular things to keep an eye on for this sub system?  Other than making sure fluid level is at max?

    8.  PDK transmission - just got the car - no record of transmission fluid change yet.  Recommend change?  59k mi.  Didnt they say never needs changing fluid (lol)?

    9.  Sport plus/launch control - anything to stay away from in terms of using the system?  I have not yet tried it, but want some info on typical usage, what to not do, ways not to do things, etc if I am clear here at all.  Just want to ensure if I use it, i use it properly without speeding up of breakage.

    10.  Electrical system/battery - this is my daily driver if I can help it - any ways to keep that running well?  Trickle charge good for infrequent drivers, anything else I can do to preventative maintain?

Had other questions but cannot recall now.  Will add if I remember.  Greatly appreciate help.
