  1. I always loosen the bolt on the body side before swiveling the arm up, to prevent damage to the bushing. It's a 16mm bolt head and nut.
  2. I imagine it may be easier to get at those servo motors in a right-hand-drive vehicle, assuming they are on the left side of the dash. They can be somewhat challenging on the left-hand-drive cars with the steering column, control modules, and relays in the way. Still no need to remove the whole dash.
  3. I would not waste my money on a fluid/filter change. You will be replacing the fluid when you do the valve body. You can do the filter at that point too. There is a tech bulletin for the harsh 5-4 shift if they look for it. It is not listed with the regular tech bulletins, but it's listed in the workshop manual in the transmission section under "eliminating symptoms", and it states that the fix is to replace the "electrohydraulic control unit", which is Porsche's term for "valve body".
  4. The last valve body I did, I did not need to replace the control unit. Sounds like they are just trying to cover themselves in case the valve body doesn't fix it.
  5. The software reprogram will probably not fix the issue. The only software update I can recall was for a harsh 1-2 or 2-3 shift. From what I remember, harsh shifts in the higher gears were always valve body issues.
  6. I have not used any of those on a Cayenne, however, I do have Bilstein Sport shocks and Eibach springs on my Audi, and the ride isn't "brutal". Otherwise, KW makes a very nice coilover kit for Cayennes that has fully adjustable compression and rebound dampening - to keep the ride smooth, as well as adjustable ride height. It's a good bit more money, but probably the least compromise for what you want.
  7. Servo motor(s) are probably the culprit. You are supposed to use the PIWIS tester to put all of the servo motors in "service position" before replacing any of them, so that the control unit knows what position they are all in when you are done. New servo motors come preset in this service position. What I would do, is replace the servo motor, and see if it works. If not, disconnect the battery for a while, hook it back up and see if the system recalibrates itself. If that doesn't work, then you can take it to the dealer and just have them do a servo motor calibration. The calibration takes about a minute to do with the PIWIS, so they shouldn't charge an arm and a leg for it.
