  1. I have just put one of the 2point5 'Spec.Dock' units into my wife's 2000 996 C2 and I must admit it looks way better than having a cradle as the unit replaces the ashtray. I know they also do a unit that interfaces with the later MOST system that you can control the iPod from either the CDR-23 or the PCM, and I think you will find the price very reasonable. Installation was very straight forward and the post purchase support was great. The Link
  2. 996 572 567 01 01C for the cover and 2 x 999 590 045 40 for the fastners.
  3. Well I finally got round to fitting my 4 stalk switch into my 2004 S. Must admit it went easier than I expected. Only issues I had were: Sourcing the Torx 30 plus a long extension and getting hold of the VW wires locally. But the install was a straight forward process. Just a note of thanks to Richard (for the wiring diagrams); and for the record for the OBC on an 04 S you don't need the wire from stalk pin 6 to the cluster connector plug C (grey) as we thought. Also a note of thanks to Chris for enabling the crusie functions in the cluster and DME. Bring on the next project.....
  4. Or part number 996 552 339 00 01c if you have moved the control unit to the lower console; Normally if you had PCM.
  5. Keith, can you please get in contact with me regarding my PST2 order that I am waiting for.
  6. See the link near the bottom left of the screen (sorry for the length of the link) http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP...5XCQBpkrkcEhFA=
  7. The windshield was: $503 the trim frame was $56 and the fitting was $250. I am still not sure if I am going to insist on them trying to find a window with the deep band. If I get time today I will post a pic or two.
  8. I have just had my windscreen replaced at a local OPC and as far as I can tell the top tint is not as wide as the original. I have checked the invoice for the part number (986 541 901 03) which I believe to be the correct part number for a 04 Boxster S (without the diversity aerials or the rain sensor). I have looked at the window makers stamp and it is Sekurit - Saint Gobain as it should be for Porsche glass (also has the small triangle refered to in a previous post which indicates so I understand that it is Porsche approved). I have compared the tint to my wifes 911 and another 986 which I saw in a parking lot and the top tint is much wider. Has there been a change in specifications for this area or are there two different widths for this tint???
  9. Assuming black airbag try pelican parts with part number 996 803 980 03 8YR at $546 not cheap if your after secondhand try here http://www.911pcar.com/.
  10. Just a thought, sometimes dealers write the radio code on the options sticker in trunk, especially if they have swaped the head unit.
  11. Have a look at this ..... maybe just what you are looking for: http://moweraxle.com/ I have seen one of these up close and its a really cool solution if you have to fit a plate!!!
  12. 'Bah Humbug'....... Which translated into Porsche speak means......'Can't quite afford the new GT this year'!!!
  13. OK its a modern re-write of the 'Christmas Carol' story... I'm sure Hollywood would snap up the rights if they knew TP was up for a 'Part...... Number' in the movie!!!
  14. So did the glass shop do a good job or did they make a mess?
  15. Just a thought.... When you turn the ignition switch does a battery volts go right down, and also do you hear a clicking or slight groaning noise from the engine bay. If you do chances are the starter motor brushes and either worn out or are stuck to the commutator. If it is the later you maybe able to give the starter a thump and they will free up. Either way the brushes will need replacing. Not sure to the make up of the Porsche starter motor. But I am sure someone else may chip in.
  16. More likely given the season.... 'The Ghost of Xmas Past' (aka the ex-boxster owner). Not likely to be the 'Ghost of Xmas Present' as you haven't been good enough to get a new Porsche this year. And not likely to be the 'Ghost of Xmas Future' as he is out driving his Carrera GT !!!
  17. The problem I have is the plug on the left doesn't match up to the socket which is shown on the right. it seems that there should be a plug shaped like the one on the right. The other option I suppose is to remove the socket and splice on the cables directly. What would be useful is the part number for the plug shapped similar to that on the right.
  18. I have just received the connectors from my local OPC to allow me to fit a 4 stalk switch to my car. However, the connector I was expecting for the cruise plug is unlike the connector on the stalk. I have attached a rough diagram of the connector ends, the left one is what I have received (yes it was in a packet with the correct 999.652.972.40 part number on it) the one on the right is the connector on the stalk. Which is correct?
  19. I can see where this topic is heading now.....have to get Loren to add this one to the Porsche owner manuals......
  20. Yes it is covered on the insurance but only after the $500 deductable!!! Wife hates cats and by all accounts cats also have a habit of sitting on the soft top and digging their claws into it!!
  21. Whilst my car was in for its 15,000 mile service the dealer found what appears to be a rodents nest and enough crewing of cables to = $400 of rewiring. Has anyone out there had a similar experience? The Boxster doesn't really have a easily accessible engine compartment so what if any is a solution that works to prevent futher damage?
  22. Also try here as this maybe what you are looking for: http://2point5.com/
