  1. Hello all. I am a previous Porsche owner ('97 Boxster) who is now also considering a classic 911. I am considering going to look at one this weekend, and I wanted to confirm the color. The description on the listing says green, but without a picture I don't know if it is a dark green, light green, metallic, etc. Can anyone provide some insight or pics of the '78 SC in the original green? Thanks in Advance! Geoff
  2. I replaced this back in February, and it was a "knuckle-buster", but it only took an hour or so. My only recommendation is that you go out and get the longest pair of bent needle-nose pliers you can find to remove the hose clips. Also I'd recommend using some grease or moisture at least to ease the hoses onto the new part. Other than that, the replacement wasn't too difficult. One other thing, I don't know what led you to the secondary air injection valve, but you may want to do a quick vacuum check on the valve to be sure that it is your problem. I understand that there is also a check valve that can cause problems in this system as well. Good luck, Geoff
  3. Well, I replaced the air injection valve on Saturday (quite a knuckle buster), cleared the codes, and all appears to be well. The old valve could not hold a vacuum, so I am pretty confident that this was the source of the problem. Thanks again to all who provided insight into this. Geoff
  4. Thanks Tool Pants. I got the part info from another post, but the guy at the dealership knew exactly which part I wanted. Apparently this part is a frequent problem. A couple of questions related to the replacement of this part for anyone who has done it themselves: 1. Is it possible to replace it without removing the passenger-side intake plenum? 2. If not, any caveats for taking off the plenum? 3. Does the gasket between the plenum and the cylinder head/block need to be replaced? 4. Torque specs for the bolts holding down the plenum? Geoff
  5. Never mind. Got it from an earlier post. Thanks! Geoff
  6. I need the part number for the air change-over valve in the secondary air injection system. It is #2 in the image below. Thanks in advance! Geoff Car info: 1997 986 5-spd.
  7. Thanks, Joe. I had seen a couple of posts on other boards about the air chang-over valve, so I'll start by taking that out and testing it once the weather clears up here. While I'm in there, I'll also check out the tube from the electric valve. Hopefully one or both of these are the cause, since everything else on the secondary injection system is buried in the engine compartment! Either way, I'll post what I find. Geoff
  8. Sorry to dig up old topics, but I was wondering if anyone ever came to a conclusion on the cause of this malfunction. My CEL came on this weekend, and when I pulled the codes they were identical to those in the above post. I also have a '97, with 48k miles (Just purchased last week :D ). I haven't done any troubleshooting, except that I had the codes cleared on Saturday and they came back this morning. I do hear the pump cycling on when cold (freaked me out at first...). Any insights would be appreciated. Geoff
